They are high energy puppies and are very loving. They want to play with everything... goats, cows, people, other dogs and cats (so non dog savvy cats would not be good with them). Sunshine is a beautiful and friendly 3 year old Golden Retriever. Initially when she came into rescue, she was very timid and shy. Now her favorite thing is cuddling up with her human on the couch. She also really enjoys stuffed toys and will usually have one (or several) wherever she goes. Sunshine gets along well with both of the resident dogs and the resident cat. She has been friendly to everyone she has met and loves attention! One fear she is still working on conquering is going outside. When Sunshine goes outside, her teeth will chatter, she will drool and pull to try to go back inside especially if there are any loud noises. Because of this, she hasn’t quite conquered potty training yet. She is 100% trained on potty pads when she is indoors and will go potty outside when she goes out. When she has to go, she has a tendency to try and go to her potty pad first. I think a fenced in yard where she could freely explore would be ideal. Sunshine had a hard start to her life but has come so far already in such a short amount of time. Dunne, which is pronounced “Dune,” is a very special boy who made the journey all the way from Afghanistan to come live in Minnesota. He is a sweet, gentle, 50 pound golden mix born 1/1/22. He is starting to adjust to his new surroundings and has learned so much in the last few weeks. Poor boy has not had much for socialization, we are working with him but needs more time to learn to "be a dog" we recommend he is the only dog for a while. Dunne loves to be around his people so much that being kenneled is hard for him. He is not a fan of the kennel, he gets calming treats when we have to leave or when he has to be in his kennel. He loves car rides and loves to be brushed and pet. He nudges your hand for neck scratches. He also loves getting a bath. He is very concerned about pleasing others and is easily trained.  He has a very mild, sweet disposition with a low energy level. He would probably love a doggie companion to help show him how cool it is to be a dog in the USA. He will be a dedicated companion with lots of love to give. Hi, my name is Peony but my foster mom calls me Awnee. I’m a female Golden Retriever born 4/6/24. I am a very happy and snuggly girl. I love people, kids and other dogs. My foster mom has taken me swimming in the pool. I do okay but she thinks I’d do better in a lake where I can enter slowly. I haven’t used a leash but I did have a harness on and didn’t seem to mind it. My foster mom thinks I will be fine on a leash. I am doing well learning to sit, stay and lay down. I don’t really care for my kennel but I don’t mind being in a pen. I was outside during the fireworks and I slept through the whole thing so I don’t think loud noises will be an issue for me. I ride well in a car and just lay down to sleep. I am alone when my foster mom runs errands and that is the one time I know I have to be in my kennel. Otherwise, she is home most of the time. I do sleep through the night. I will bark when I am frustrated but stop fairly quickly. I am not house trained but do use a potty pad. My foster mom thinks I will pick this up pretty quickly with a schedule. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    I’m on the hunt for a very special loving home who is willing to work diligently with my confidence.  I’m extremely shy and am much braver on the outside than I am on the inside.  I love my kennel as I use it as my safe space.  When I feel nervous or unsure, I retreat there and hide. I’m very, very sweet and still learning all about receiving love and affection and I do like it!  I do enjoy hanging out with people but I also have a mischievous side when I think you’re not looking.  Away from home is hard for me.  I am so nervous and freeze with anxiety.  I will bolt if I get the chance.  So I will need a fenced yard as even leashes are new.  I am 99% potty training when on a schedule and am clearly crate trained, since that’s where I feel the most safe.  But I do know some commands like “sit, outside, go potty.” If you say “in” by my kennel, that’s when I know you want me to get inside.  So I’m super smart!  I would love to have another confident dog in my forever home to help me learn how to be a dog and teach me all the things.  You’ll find me to be loving, gentle, shy, sweet and absolutely precious.  But if you are patient enough to help me over my anxieties, I promise to reward you with all the love and affection you expect from a dog . *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared.  Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses .   Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.   Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans.
