Story
2/12/25-From Bo’s foster: Please welcome Bo 25-002, a very sweet 2 yr-old male Golden Doodle. Bo was surrendered to GRRoIowa in January by a Good Samaritan who found him on Craigslist. He was being given away because his owner received him as a Christmas present and decided he wasn’t what he wanted for Christmas. I’m glad he realized that so now we can find a home where he is wanted! Bo has the face of a Golden Retriever with Doodle waves on the back of his head and ears. His fur is very soft and fluffy. He does shed so he needs to be brushed or combed regularly. He is a big dog with a long body and long legs so he can rest his head on my dining room table with no problem. We were told he weighs 66#, but at the first visit, our vet’s scale showed 75#. Then when he went to get neutered a few days later, he weighed in at 70#. He is healthy and was neutered last week, so he is ready to find his forever home. When someone comes to the house, Bo gets very excited and jumps up for attention. We are working on paws on the floor so he doesn’t do it to me anymore, but loves new people so he gets over-excited. He needs training because he is so strong. He loves to go for car rides and walks, but really pulls on the leash and even with the harness that I have, so I think he needs a different kind of harness or gentle leader. Bo has a high prey drive, so he shouldn’t live with cats or small dogs. He chased outdoor cats at the Good Samaritan’s home. A fenced-in yard would be ideal, but if his adoptive family will take him to training and work with him to keep him safe, then someone without a fence could be considered. Bo is a young dog who loves to play. My dogs are senior former breeder dogs who don’t know how to play, but he keeps trying to engage them. He entertains himself with toys and Nylabones, so he doesn’t need to have another dog in the house. When I can’t watch Bo, he is kenneled and sleeps in the kennel at night. He is completely housetrained and either paces or stands by the door when he has to go outside. Because of Bo’s size, any children in the home should be at least 8 years old so younger children don’t get knocked down by him. He loves to be by people, so he will follow me wherever I go. Bo is such a sweetheart and will be a great addition to someone’s active family! If you would like to meet him, please complete an application form on our website. https://grroiowa.org/adoption-information/

Story
Meet Pepper! A gorgeous, petite aussie doodle lady at 35lbs. She is about 2 years old, and came from a situation where she was very neglected. Zero grooming and probably little to no positive socialization. Therefore **please read** what her needs are before applying! Pepper will be one of those pups that will take months to truly come out of her shell. For example, it has taken 3 weeks for her to want to lay and relax in the same vicinity as her foster family, but has little interest in being touched or even looked at. Her foster mom describes her as a lovable weirdo! She will need a more relaxed home with at least 1 other confident dog in the home. She feeds off the confident, 7yr old GSP in her foster home, but also gets along with the others as well as cats. She has done great with kennel training and leash training. Pepper is easily startled, and will flee as a response. We'd recommend a fenced backyard for her forever home as an extra safety measure. Working with dogs from these situations can be a process, but SO rewarding. If interested in meeting Pepper and learning more about her progress over the last month (which has been so great to see), please submit an application at www.foreverhomedogs.org. Meets will be setup with approved applicants only after January 20th.All adoptions are $300 per dog for puppies under 1 year, $250 for adults 1 - 9 years old and $150 for senior dogs which include spay/neuter, micro-chipped and up-to-date on required shots. Senior dogs, at our discretion, are adopted out at $150 per dog because we know they will have less time with your family and may eventually have more needs as they get older. But we feel these dogs deserve to live out the rest of their lives as part of a loving family.

Story
Tucker is a two year old 25ish lb Aussiedoodle. He was a breeder release and is under socialized so will need a special adopter willing to put some work in with him. We are working on potty training, he’s still occasionally marked so he does wear a belly band when he’s out of his kennel. He is good with cats and other dogs around his size - he does better with another animal to follow around for confidence. He does sleep in a kennel at night, but the kennel has to be in his foster mom's bedroom or he barks because he doesn’t like to be alone. He does bark in his kennel when his human leaves, so would not recommend an apartment/shared walls in his forever home. He is still very very shy around new people and can be a little nippy out of fear so would not recommend young children due to his horribly neglectful situation before he came to us. However, since being in rescue for a month he does get happy zoomies, wags his tails and comes for snuggles. His adoption fee is $250 and he is fully vetted. If you have the right type of home for Tucker and want to meet him, please put an application in at www.foreverhomedogs.org!All adoptions are $300 per dog for puppies under 1 year, $250 for adults 1 - 9 years old and $150 for senior dogs which include spay/neuter, micro-chipped and up-to-date on required shots. Story
Meet Miss Peggy. Peggy is a 3 year old poodle who came to us in December from a breeding situation. She is a timid but very sweet girl. Peggy loves to play with other dogs and it gives her so much confidence to have another dog in the home. This will be a requirement for adopting her. She is more comfortable with women than men right now. In the past couple of months, she has come a long way and she will continue to improve in a patient home. Dog beds and chew bones are her favorite things. We will require a fenced yard for her safety as she could be very hard to catch if she gets loose before she develops a trusting relationship with her adopter. Peggy's adoption fee is $250. If you are interested, please fill out the adoption application on our website. www.foreverhomedogs.orgAll adoptions are $300 per dog for puppies under 1 year, $250 for adults 1 - 9 years old and $150 for senior dogs which include spay/neuter, micro-chipped and up-to-date on required shots.
