Story
SHE BOUNCES LIKE TIGGER! Getrude is working on socialization! She deserves the chance for socialization in a loving home that understands she startles with noises and needs very consistent routine. No signs of aggression! She is working on playing with toys and is a shy lovely girl with a gentle spirit. According to her foster home, "she want to please humans and dogs-but her insecurity/nervousness can make her movements jerky." Getrude could go to a home with an older, calmer dog to follow. Can't go to a home with another fearful/anxious dog. She loves peanut butter kongs, soft toys, and wants to play with her foster dogs! She is being housetrained, and is receiving antianxiety meds, and priloscec otc. Will need crate training. Will need extra time and repetitions to fully incorporate new commands. Experienced adopter needed who understands a dog with anxiety ; needs fenced in yard. Knows basic commands such as Sit, Paw, Quiet, No, Wait, Nice, Stay patience and routine oriented - willing to continue to work with a DVM behaviorist. She has 2 speeds: really fast or dead stop! :) Diagnosed with global anxiety -(non aggressive), "G" has fallen in love with another Great Dane in the foster home! Gertie knows the following commands-Sit, Paw, Quite, No, Wait, Nice, Stay! Has made great progress!

Story
Holly is still waiting for her forever family--such a great dog who "purrs!" This wonderful Dane is ready to be adopted!  Graceful Holy with lots of affection and mild mannered would like to join your family! Holly is a funny girl sleeping in all kinds of positions that seem to be uncomfortable; but she is just fine! Typical Great Dane lap dog and cuddler! May need slow intro to other dogs; but foster home feels Holly just needs socialization! She has been good in the car; and is good on a leash. Rarely barks but does talk to you! Was used for breeding. Needs secured yard. She is with another Great Dane in the foster home. Holly jumps like a deer when she is outside and happy! Holly is truly a wonderful companion and a very patient older sister to the other Dane in the home. Latest update from foster home May, 2024 indicates that Holly is "a very smart, very affectionate Dane." Holly is ready to find her family! She essentially "purrs" according to foster home and is such a people-person! She has completed all medical! Her favorite thing seems to be standing in front of someone so they have no choice but to pet her and love her! Not good with cats or smaller dogs -could definitley get along with large dog

Story
Cookie came to GDRI due to need for emergency surgery due to an abscess. Procedure was successful and a drain was put in; and has been removed. Will need to be spayed, but all labs are great. Cookie is a velcro dog and wants attention. She's a typical Great Dane puppy and needs obedience training to prevent jumping. She does know sit, shake. She is working on potty training, and doing well. Beautiful smart dog. Loves attention and wants to be petted and around you at all times. When she gets tired, she enjoys cuddling! Needs leash training for walks. She's a very goofy big puppy who does funny things and is constantly curious about her environment. Likes to climb on you so may not do well in household with children under 5 or with smaller dogs. Is now potty trained and doing great in her foster home! Cookie does want to be right next to you at all times, and may need to understand "personal space!" Typical Great Dane puppy with lots of love to give! Eager to please and learns extremely fast! She knows "sit" commands and "shake." She will be spayed on September 4, and then ready to be adopted!

Story
LOCAL TN ADOPTION ONLY. The good.....He is kennel trained. Goes in very easily with treats. Will run right in if a treat is thrown in there. Will bark for a few minutes but settles. If he’s in a crate, in a room alone and he hears a lot of commotion, he will bark. If you’ve left and the house is quiet, he’s quiet. He’s great in the kennel if someone is in the same room with him though. He likes being with his people. He happily snoozes in an open kennel during the day if you’re working from home and the kennel is near your work area.Scooby is a goof! There’s not much he takes too seriously. Besides treats. Treats are serious business! He will do just about anything for a treat. Even stuff he really doesn’t want to do. But treats are life. He’s overall an easy dog that is sweet, happy, cuddly and isn’t overly energetic. He loves playing and is a bulldozer but he relaxes and naps a lot too. He doesn’t require mass amounts of exercise. He is more than happy to lounge around in bed and watch tv with his humans. The bad...He snores. It’s not quiet...He hates small dogs, if your neighbor has one he will make it his life"s mission to eradicate it. He is generally good on a leash until aforementioned small dog walks up, then he will happily chill with you while you recover from your rotator cuff repair. LOCAL ADOPTION ONLY IN TN.The Adoption Fee Includes Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (DA2PPV, Bordetella, Rabies), Deworming, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Flea, Tick and Heartworm Treatment and Prevention, and Sheltering. Adult Dogs are Heartworm Tested and Treated as Needed. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time!
