Introducing Luna! Sweetheart Adaptable Courageous Affectionate  Luna is one half of an extraordinary pair of Great Danes who embody courage, kindness, and boundless love. Luna and her brother, Ares, are ready to embark on a new chapter of their lives with you. This lovely lady is a stunning, white Great Dane who exhibits grace and charm that's simply unmatched. Her world is painted in shades of love and determination due to overcoming vision impairments with remarkable finesse due to her hearing and smelling She has proven that strength lies not in what we see, but in the unwavering spirit within. With every step, she demonstrates her determination to explore life to the fullest. Her bond with her brother is something truly special. They continue to find support from each other as they navigate their world safely. Their connection is a testament to the power of love and companionship, and they must be adopted together to ensure that they continue to thrive. They both love to be around their people and soak up the attention. While they aren't that into playing with toys, they do love going for walks and car rides! These two gentle giants can be the perfect addition to your family and can do well in a household with cats and older children. Due to their special needs, a home where they will be the only dogs is necessary. Both dogs are housebroken, crate-trained, and walk well on a leash. Their foster family has also noted they do well during car rides. A physical fence and minimal steps are required due to them having difficulty with hearing and vision. Neither dog has any medical/health concerns, but Ares occasionally requires an ointment for his eye. Are you ready to open your heart and home to this remarkable pair of siblings? If so, please reach out to us by one of the following steps. 1. If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Ares & Luna’s Placement Coordinator at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about them. 2. If you are not yet an approved adopter through UMGDR, you must complete our application process before you can be considered to adopt a dog through our rescue. Please visit https://www.thegreatdanerescue.com/adoption-application to complete an application and submit your $25 application fee to begin the process. This awesome duo is currently located in Presque Isle, WI. Since Luna and Ares need to be adopted together, the combined adoption fee is $430.10. ##1579466##

Story
Introducing Maxwell! Energetic Playful Affectionate Extraordinary Hi there! My name is Maxwell, and I’m a fun-loving, adventurous pup with a heart as big as my playful spirit. Life may look and sound a little different for me because of my vision and hearing impairments, but that doesn’t stop me from embracing every moment with curiosity and joy. I’m on the lookout for a special family who will love and support me just as I am—and I promise to give you all my love in return! When it comes to playtime, I’m all in! My favorite activities include: Chasing after balls and tugging on ropes. Chewing on deer antlers (yum!). Exploring the world on walks and taking in all the new smells. Zooming around the backyard with my famous burst of energy—it’s my happy dance! I absolutely adore being close to my people. Whether we’re playing together or just enjoying some quiet time, I thrive on companionship and affection. Being left alone isn’t my favorite, and I might bark to let you know I miss you, so I’d love a home where someone is around most of the time to keep me company. Navigating the world with limited sight and hearing can be a little tricky, but I’ve got it down! Once I’m familiar with my surroundings, I get around just fine. I may see light, dark, and motion, and I can hear some high-pitched noises, but I mostly rely on my other senses—and the love and guidance of my humans—to help me feel safe and confident. Here’s what I’d love in my forever home: A calm, patient family who understands my unique needs. A physical fence to keep me safe as I explore and play. Preferably a midsize to large yard so I have enough room for zoomies! A calm, submissive doggy sibling who can be my buddy and help me feel more secure. If there are kids, I’d do best with older ones (12+) who have a gentle and calm demeanor. An experienced owner, especially someone familiar with caring for dogs with hearing or vision impairments, would be a huge plus! A family who is home more often than not. A work-from-home position would be awesome! Otherwise, I would prefer if my family isn't gone for more than 6 hours at a time. I’ve had a bit of a rough start in life, bouncing between homes before finding my way to foster care. Now, I’m ready for the stability and love of a forever family who will cherish me for the amazing dog that I am. I may need a little extra understanding, but I promise the love and joy I’ll bring to your life will make it all worthwhile. Fun fact about me: My “zoomies” are a pure expression of my happiness, and they’ll never fail to bring a smile to your face. I’m a resilient, loving boy who’s ready to be your loyal companion. Are you the one I’ve been waiting for? Maxwell is ready to embark on a new journey, and he'd love to share it with you. Please complete one of the following steps to make Maxwell a part of your family. 1. If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Maxwell’s Placement Coordinator at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about him. 2. Introducing Meeko! Outgoing Playful Loving Alert Hi there, I’m Meeko! I’m a handsome, sweet, and energetic Great Dane with a heart full of love to give. I might take a little time to warm up to new people, but once I get to know you, I’m all in! My affectionate nature will quickly make me your favorite four-legged companion. Here’s a bit about me: Training: I’ve mastered basic commands like sit, down, come, and shake, and I’m housetrained and kennel-trained. Health: I’m neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, and in great shape! Loyalty: Once I trust you, I’ll be your biggest fan and will always be ready for love and attention. I have plenty of energy and an adventurous spirit, so daily exercise and mental stimulation are a must to keep me happy. My ideal forever home will have: A secure yard: A 6-foot physical fence will keep me safe as I explore, play, and practice my recall skills. I need a midsize to large yard so I have enough room for all of my zoomies! Experienced humans: I can be stubborn at times, so I need a strong leader who can provide structure and clear boundaries. I’m not shy about speaking my mind—I’m a vocal guy who barks at just about everything! This makes me a great watchdog, but it also means I’m not the best fit for city living or apartment life. If you have kids, that’s great! I’ve been affectionate with kids in the past, but I’ll do best with older, experienced children who are comfortable around big dogs like me. A strong male presence in the home would be wonderful—I really enjoy bonding with the men in my life. I enjoy the company of other dogs, but I need slow, supervised introductions to make sure we get along. I’d prefer a home without cats for now, but once I’ve bonded with my new family and learned the ropes, we can revisit that idea. I love to spend time with my family but I do well being crated for 8+ hours during the work week if needed. I know I have a few areas to work on, like my barking and pushing boundaries, but with the right family and consistent guidance, I’ll continue to grow into the best version of myself. If you’re looking for a loyal, energetic, and loving companion, I just might be the perfect fit. Let’s start this adventure together! Meeko is a bundle of love and energy ready to embrace the world with open arms. If you're an experienced Dane owner who can help Meeko thrive, please reach out to us. Meeko is eager to find his forever home, where he can embark on endless adventures and share his heart with you. Please complete one of the following steps to make Meeko a part of your family. 1. Introducing Tiny Tim! Affectionate Goofy Active Social  Hi there! My name is Tiny Tim, and let me tell you—my personality is as big as my paws! I’m a cool, confident Great Dane who knows exactly what I want in life: love, structure, and a strong, compassionate leader to guide me. My outgoing nature and magnetic charm make me a social butterfly, always eager to make new friends and brighten everyone’s day. I thrive in an environment where I can be my best self, surrounded by people who appreciate my larger-than-life spirit. When it comes to energy, I’m a true dynamo! Whether I’m going on a walk, running alongside my favorite human, or breaking into the ultimate zoomies in a wide-open space, I embrace life with boundless joy. Adventure is my middle name, and I can’t wait to share it with my forever family. I may be deaf, but that doesn’t stop me from being a star pupil. I’ve trained at the Becket School of Canine Training, where I’ve mastered commands through visual cues and touch. The best part? My training comes with lifetime support to ensure I keep growing and thriving with my forever family. I’m ready to show off my skills and learn even more with you! While I am ok with meeting other dogs in public, I prefer my personal space at home, so I’d do best as the only pet. Cats? Not my thing either. I’m happiest when I have my humans all to myself, and I promise I’ll reward you with endless love and loyalty. A physical fence is a must to keep me safe while I explore my surroundings. If you’ve got kids, I’d do best with older ones—teenagers who understand and respect my space. Here’s what makes me happiest: Long walks, runs, and outdoor adventures that let me stretch my legs and explore the world. Breaking into zoomies—it’s my favorite way to show off my playful side! Learning new things and practicing my training skills—it keeps me sharp and confident. Spending quality time with my humans. I’m all about building strong bonds! What I’m not a fan of: Sharing my home with other pets—I like to have my space. Environments without structure—I thrive when I know the rules and expectations. I’m looking for a home with: A physical fence to keep me safe during my outdoor adventures. A strong, loving leader who will provide the structure and guidance I need. Teenagers or adults who understand my needs and love me for who I am. An active family who will embrace my adventurous spirit and keep me engaged. Fun fact about me: I might be deaf, but my ability to communicate and connect with my humans is second to none. My training, enthusiasm, and loving nature make me a one-of-a-kind companion. If you’re ready for a larger-than-life best friend, I can’t wait to meet you and start our adventure together! Tiny Tim is ready to become a beloved member of your family. Story
Hey there, I am Gordy aka Gordon (when I’m not listening) and Gordito Crunch (when my foster mama is playing with me)! I am an almost 3 year old Great Dane/Great Pyrenees mix. That just means I’m extra great of course!  I have the Great Dane height and body but a Great Pyrenees head with the Pyrenees shedding.  I was originally surrendered as a puppy due to having special back legs. I was adopted to a wonderful family but recently was surrendered back to rescue because I can be a strong personality. I get that from the Great Pyrenees side.  I love hard and love attention from my humans but don’t enjoy people I don’t know initially. I take my job of guarding the home seriously and need my humans to communicate and prove to me that they can control and protect the house so I don’t have to worry about it.  I recently spent a month with a really nice lady who taught me really fun things like walking well on leash, a strong place command, heel, come and all of the other skills I need to be a well mannered boy.  I really love to play with toys and other dog friends as long as they are not dominant. I’m a total goofball but have shown resource guarding over food with other dogs. I prefer to eat my food and bones in my kennel.  I really love my kennel. I sleep there at night and when my foster parents are gone. I will counter surf if left unattended.  Remember how I was surrendered as a puppy due to having special legs? Well, I still have special back legs. I was born with slightly twisted femurs so I walk a bit differently and have arthritis in my back knees. I love to run and play but can be sore after playing all day long so I occasionally take gabapentin to help. I also require daily joint supplements to help my bones stay healthy.  I currently take anxiety meds daily. I have been on these since I was young to help with my desire to protect the home. These meds cost about $90 for a 90 day supply so any future adopter needs to be able to continue to pay for regular medications.  Foster Mama Here: Gordy is the bestest boy. We fostered him when he was a puppy as well. We do not let him greet visitors at our house and require him to stay on his bed in a “place” while visitors are here. He is also happy to stay in his kennel. He does like to meet people slowly and at a good pace. Once he knows and trusts you he will forever welcome you as a family member of his.  Gordy has so much potential and loves so hard. But he will require owners who can set strict boundaries in the home and hold him accountable. His breed and genetics make him want to protect his home and people but if you a set boundaries he is such a great listener.  We walk him on a prong collar and he is eCollar trained. His adopters will need to commit to continued use of these training tools and also meeting with his board and train trainer to learn about everything he knows.  Gordy loves the snow and playing outside. His favorite is his doggy pool in the summer. We have 4 other dogs in our home and he plays with all of them.  Gordy lived with kids in his first home. He was very protective over them so we do not recommend he go to a home with children under the age of 12. He has been thriving with a farm life and would do best outside of the city. ##954057##

Story
Kota here! That’s right, I finally put on enough weight to begin the hunt for my forever home!  I am a 2.5 year old male Great Dane. I have a fawn coat with Merle splotches on my ears.  Though I can coexist with other dogs I am looking for a home where I am the only animal and a family who understands that I want their love all for myself! Because of the situation I came from I still think I need to fight to survive when food is present (human and dog food). My foster Mama says they understand why I feel like that and doesn’t want me to ever have to worry about that long term. I will bark while walking when I see other dogs so I am working on my manners.  I LOVE human attention and snuggles. I am a smart boy who is kennel trained, potty trained and know sit, down, stay, off and out. I love to play fetch in the yard. I LOVE vet visits - again give me all the human attention always! Foster Mama has been working with me on patience for my meals. I know I need to sit and wait until she tells me “ok” for my food. Because of my resource guarding with other dogs a fenced in yard would be ideal - that way I can run and play without a care in the world! I am currently in foster care in the Twin Cities.  ##2208464##

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi there! My name is Hercules, and I’m a 3 year old Great Dane. I’m on the smaller side on the Dane scale, but definitely still 100lbs of love and energy.  A few things about me, I love to run and play with toys, I’m very loyal, I’m ok with sleeping all day or I’m happy to help you around the house with all your tasks. I love to be involved and part of the party. If you’re doing things that I can’t help with, I’m very content in my massive kennel where I sprawl out and chew a bone, or cuddle up in a ball and nap. Some things that are important to know before meeting me is my foster mom is adamant I go to someone or a family that understands large breeds, how to keep me safe, and most importantly how to read my body language. Per the Great Dane breed I’m a bit judgmental at first and prefer to meet new people out of my kennel, with my handler near, and I like to be the one that decides if I want to come to you and when. Once I feel calm and get a good wif of your vibes, then I’ll let you know you’re cool by letting you pet my back and booty. Deep down I’m a big cuddly lap dog that loves to lean into yah to relax but sometimes getting to that takes me a little time. I’m hopeful that whoever adopts me will give me plenty of time to bond with them directly before I start meeting a lot of new people and pups. Speaking of fellow pups, I tend to do well with most other dogs, but like everything introductions should be slower and controlled. I was intact till just a bit ago so between my size and manly posture and lingering testosterone still flowing through my body it tends to be other dogs that don’t like me first and then I choose based on their reaction to not really care for them. My foster mom runs a dog boarding business out of our home so I do get a ton of exposer every day to new dogs and random people from time to time and she is happy to help anyone that is interested in adopting me move forward with training, behavioral & posture explanations so you will know all my cues and can take over as my person so I can live a long healthy life with you going forward. I know my bio blip is a little longer than just Im a cute cuddly puppy, but I promise you that I’m a gosh darn good pup that’s really looking to settle in to their forever home and love on someone everyday. And just a reminder if my pictures don’t do justice - I’m extremely Handsome and 10/10 puppy eyes  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Story
Welcome Jinx to CCPAL Rescue. Jinx is a 2 year old Great Dan mix. He is tall and lanky like the great Dane and has the shy quality. He is a good weight and he is good with other dogs. He has lived with a large female and male in his home. He does know sit and is good on leash. We assume he is potty trained as he had an older man owner. His owner is in hospice care and is not doing well. A good Samaritan stepped up and helped them. She asked CCPAL to take them in and help them find a new forever home. He settles down nice and likes to lean in to his person. He would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. We would love someone familiar with the Dane personality or someone who has had a large breed dog before. He would be a great man dog. He takes direction well and bonds deeply very quickly. He naturally likes men as he lived his life with one. He would be content being the only dog or being with another dog. He is not the dominant one of the 3 pack. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions.
