Story
Hey there, I am Gordy aka Gordon (when I’m not listening) and Gordito Crunch (when my foster mama is playing with me)! I am an almost 3 year old Great Dane/Great Pyrenees mix. That just means I’m extra great of course!  I have the Great Dane height and body but a Great Pyrenees head with the Pyrenees shedding.  I was originally surrendered as a puppy due to having special back legs. I was adopted to a wonderful family but recently was surrendered back to rescue because I can be a strong personality. I get that from the Great Pyrenees side.  I love hard and love attention from my humans but don’t enjoy people I don’t know initially. I take my job of guarding the home seriously and need my humans to communicate and prove to me that they can control and protect the house so I don’t have to worry about it.  I recently spent a month with a really nice lady who taught me really fun things like walking well on leash, a strong place command, heel, come and all of the other skills I need to be a well mannered boy.  I really love to play with toys and other dog friends as long as they are not dominant. I’m a total goofball but have shown resource guarding over food with other dogs. I prefer to eat my food and bones in my kennel.  I really love my kennel. I sleep there at night and when my foster parents are gone. I will counter surf if left unattended.  Remember how I was surrendered as a puppy due to having special legs? Well, I still have special back legs. I was born with slightly twisted femurs so I walk a bit differently and have arthritis in my back knees. I love to run and play but can be sore after playing all day long so I occasionally take gabapentin to help. I also require daily joint supplements to help my bones stay healthy.  I currently take anxiety meds daily. I have been on these since I was young to help with my desire to protect the home. These meds cost about $90 for a 90 day supply so any future adopter needs to be able to continue to pay for regular medications.  Foster Mama Here: Gordy is the bestest boy. We fostered him when he was a puppy as well. We do not let him greet visitors at our house and require him to stay on his bed in a “place” while visitors are here. He is also happy to stay in his kennel. He does like to meet people slowly and at a good pace. Once he knows and trusts you he will forever welcome you as a family member of his.  Gordy has so much potential and loves so hard. But he will require owners who can set strict boundaries in the home and hold him accountable. His breed and genetics make him want to protect his home and people but if you a set boundaries he is such a great listener.  We walk him on a prong collar and he is eCollar trained. His adopters will need to commit to continued use of these training tools and also meeting with his board and train trainer to learn about everything he knows.  Gordy loves the snow and playing outside. His favorite is his doggy pool in the summer. We have 4 other dogs in our home and he plays with all of them.  Gordy lived with kids in his first home. He was very protective over them so we do not recommend he go to a home with children under the age of 12. He has been thriving with a farm life and would do best outside of the city. ##954057##

Story
Kota here! That’s right, I have finally put on enough weight to begin the hunt for my forever home!  I am a 3 year old neutered male Great Dane. I have a fawn coat with Merle splotches aka freckles on my ears.  When I first came into rescue I came from a neglect case and was found  tied to a tree, emaciated, with many parasites and open sores. I slowly gained weight but initially had a hard time understanding I don’t need to fight for my food. I showed resource guarding behaviors but after being neutered and getting to a healthy weight I am much more comfortable with other dogs around food.  I need a family who is confident and comfortable implementing boundaries around food and resources such as furniture, beds, etc. Doing so will help me learn I don’t need to protect these things in a new living situation. I am comfortable sharing all of these things in my foster home now. I currently eat my meals in my kennel so I don’t have to worry about sharing food and prefer to continue to eat in a safe space by myself. I can however happily sit and wait for a treat with other dogs around me! I do love to play tug and share toys with my foster brother and sister.  I am learning how to play appropriately. I can be a bit vocal when I get very excited but I listen to my foster parents when they tell me to calm down. I love to wrestle with other non-dominant dogs. I would probably do best with dogs over 25 pounds due to my size, energy and play style.  I LOVE human attention and snuggles. I am a smart boy who is kennel trained, potty trained and I know sit, down, stay, off and out. I love to play fetch in the yard. I LOVE vet visits - again give me all the human attention always! Foster Mama has been working with me on patience for my meals. I know I need to sit and wait until she tells me “ok” for my food. I am also learning “4 on the floor” as in an be a bit jumpy with my favorite people. I just am so excited to see them I can’t contain myself! Even though I am 3 I am a higher energy boy who loves to run and play. I would love an active family.  Recently I have started going to the local indoor dog park and have done SO well playing with other dogs and meeting all the new human friends.  Kota will be most successful with a family who will continue to utilize a crate, attend training classes, and is willing to continue to work on his socialization.  I am currently in foster care in the Twin Cities.  To learn more about me reach out to my rescue! ##2208464##

Story
Hi Friends! My name is Magnolia but everyone calls me Maggie. I am a spayed, female Great Dane that is 1.5 years old. If you are looking for a funny girl who is well trained and has a willingness to please her family, then I am your girl. I am a cute petite lady that loves attention and playing. My interests are eating water biscuits, wiggling my butt, and playing with all the toys at once. I am well trained and listen to commands; however, being consistent will keep me out of mischief. I am fully potty trained, and crate trained, but I am vocal during the day while in the crate. I sleep in my crate at night and I am so worn out from my busy day that you won’t hear me make a sound. I would like to find a forever home that will continue being consistent with my training and take me on walks. While I've been able to do ok with other doggos, I'm not predictable and therefore need to be the only pet in my forever home. If there are family member doggos that might come by, I'll need to be muzzled at all times with them, even if it seems like we are getting along nicely. I love my muzzle, as I know I get to have a good time when I'm wearing itl!  Sometimes I can get overwhelmed with chaos and get too excited so a Great Dane savvy family is what I’m looking for.  I can’t wait to find my very own home because I am a lover that appreciates attention. ##2319866##

Story
If you’re looking for the happiest dog you’re ever going to meet, Sterling is the one for you! Don’t let his pictures fool you—this guy radiates joy and positive energy. He wants to meet everyone because he believes every stranger is one snuggle away from becoming another best friend!Sterling has stunning dark grey Weimaraner coloring with a Great Dane head and floppy lips combined with a lab’s happiness and size. He has such a gentle, loving temperament. He’s about 3 years old and underweight at 54 pounds—he’ll probably be 65-70 pounds once he’s filled out. This resilient stray wandered into his foster’s front yard on a freezing day, shivering until his soulful eyes melted our hearts.Sterling is potty trained, knows basic commands like “sit” and “down,” and gets along beautifully with his foster’s large female dog, small female dog, three cats, adults and kids. He did great meeting the whole pack at the rescue, too!Sterling adapts well when left on his own and has been taught good manners—no begging, no barking or any jumping on furniture. If you sit on the floor, he will plop right next to you, eager for your company. Sterling is ready to settle into his forever home. He’s an easily trainable, happy-go-lucky kinda guy, and he will become the loving 4-legged companion your family has been missing.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.March 12, 2025, 6:56 am

Story
Welcome Jinx to CCPAL Rescue. Jinx is a 2 year old Great Dan mix. He is tall and lanky like the great Dane and has the shy quality. He is a good weight and he is good with other dogs. He has lived with a large female and male in his home. He does know sit and is good on leash. We assume he is potty trained as he had an older man owner. His owner is in hospice care and is not doing well. A good Samaritan stepped up and helped them. She asked CCPAL to take them in and help them find a new forever home. He settles down nice and likes to lean in to his person. He would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. We would love someone familiar with the Dane personality or someone who has had a large breed dog before. He would be a great man dog. He takes direction well and bonds deeply very quickly. He naturally likes men as he lived his life with one. He would be content being the only dog or being with another dog. He is not the dominant one of the 3 pack. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions.
