Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.8/5/24 Meet Bruno! This handsome boy is currently at the Arkansas Paws in Prison program. See the end of this post for more info on the Paws in Prison program. He will graduate from the program in about 7 weeks.  Bruno loves kids and other dogs! He weighs about 80lb and is very strong. He seems to be a Lab mix. Maybe mixed with Great Dane or Mastiff but we don't know for sure! He’s a gentle giant who thinks he’s a lap dog. He is sweet and loves to play ball. He loves to romp and roll. And to him there’s nothing better than a backyard and a ball to fetch. He’s huge fan of fetch. Bruno is a friendly, social and affectionate 2-year-old. Right now, though, he’s lacking leash manners. But the inmate trainers will teach him the right way to walk on a leash. There is something about Bruno that is inviting, compelling and captivating. He’s a lab mix with a lab personality and warmth. Bruno is big, but goodness, he’s such a great guy! If you aren't familiar with the Paws in Prison program, it is a training program where dogs are paired with 2 inmates. These inmates have gone through training themselves, to learn how to properly train the dogs.  Once enrolled, the dog lives at the prison with the inmates for 8 weeks. During that time, they are trained in basic obedience. They learn skills like house training, basic commands, leash walking, manners, etc. The inmates and the dogs all meet with the trainer once a week in a common area, where all the dogs are together, and each week they show the trainer what they have learned, and get assigned new tasks for the following week.  Each inmate keeps a journal on their dog. The journal is passed along to the adopter one the dog is adopted. The journal tells all about the dog, what they have learned, what they still need to work on, likes/dislikes, etc. At the end of the 8 weeks, the dog goes thru the Canine Good Citizen test.  Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations. Story
Charlie is a wonderful boy that just wants to be part of the family. He is kind, enjoys playing with other dogs and is respectful of cats. Charlie loves nothing more than going on long walks. Although he really enjoys being inside, you can often find him sleeping in the sun in the back yard. He is truly a gentle giant and enjoys taking a nap on the couch.

Story
Behr came to us through no fault of his own as his owner’s living situation had changed. He was hopefully going to be an emotional support dog as he has an easy going temperament. He still has some puppy energy and would benefit from romps in the back yard , possibly with kids and or other dogs which would be the best fit as he does not enjoy being on his own very much. He is house trained and crate trained.and he is neutered and pexied. Behr is super smart and and takes to training easily as he is very food motivated. He walks nicely on leash and enjoys time with his person.

Story
My name is Dixie and I am 8 months old. I came into rescue with my sister Dora. I am happy and playful and enjoy playing outside with the kids in my foster home and also with my sister. Dora is the more out-going one of the two of us, so when there are a lot of people visiting the farm, I watch Dora to see if it is ok to come over and say hello. I am very good at eating, sleeping and playing but I need more practice with walking nicely on the leash. If you think that I would be a good fit for your home, please contact your local chapter of the MAGDRL today!
