Story
Hello! My name is Karoline. I`m a large girl with a fluffy coat and I`m ready to find a home to call my own! When I arrived at TCRAS, I was very shut down and afraid. My amazing caregivers here have been very patient with me, and slowly but surely I have come out of my shell as I learned that they could be trusted. Now, I`ll even go for short walks and play in the snow when I`m with somebody that I trust. My friends here say that I have made amazing strides with training, but I am still very shy and unsure with new people and new situations. I`ll need a special owner who will go the extra mile for me and continue my structured training in a loving environment. Will you give me a chance? If you would like to know more about me or are interested in adding me to your family, please call TCRAS at 719-686-7707 to set up an appointment!

Story
Hi there!! My name is Cherry and I am a big, beautiful girl looking for my forever home! I love people and I enjoy going on walks, hanging out on the couch, and playing in the snow. I am deaf, meaning that sometimes I can startle easily when woken up, but that doesn`t stop me from giving all the love to my human friends here at the shelter! Because of the startle response that I have, I would do best in a home without children under the age of 12. If you think I would make a good fit for your home, please give the shelter a call at 719-686-7707 to schedule an appointment to meet me!

Story
Floyd was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2262540##

Story
I am looking for a home for my Great Pyrenees. Teddy. He absolutely loves people, the most social, loving dog I've ever known. Great with kids, he is around them all the time and is very gentle. He is well trained in all the basics. We live on a ranch in Sedalia, the GM felt like he didn't fit. He is free, I'm not looking to make any money off of this, but I will need to meet you to know he is going to a good home, I won't give him to anyone I'm not positive will be good for him. I'll send him with some toys, leash, bowls etc. He turns 1 year old in early February, not sure of the exact date of birth, I got him in early May of 2024, so he's had a good solid upbringing so far. Will do great protecting your herd, animals and family. Well trained around horses. Great judge of character. Needs to be around people, isn't high energy, doesn't need a lot of space. He just likes to be with people. Good with other dogs but should have supervised introductions.

Story
We took Yeti in from a friend at 4 months old as his original owner backed out of taking him. He is a sweet boy, potty trained, but a big chewer and barker. We have tried everything these past 10 months to keep him from chewing and barking - with very little luck. He has soooooo many toys to chew on yet he still prefers more than toys. He needs a large yard that he can roam/protect/bark all he wants without neighbors getting upset. We have 2 other dogs (the brindles in the picture) that he gets along with great. We also have 3 cats, one which thinks she's a dog so she'll play with him (the other 2 are anti dogs). He is very reluctant to car rides. I've tried several times since we got him, with no luck. My husband has to pick him up and take him to the truck - hence why no vaccines more than Rabies and what our friend did prior to obtaining him. He also became a dad at less then a year old.... our brindle female went into heat 3 months early and well now I have 3 puppies as well.

Story
Sika is a 6 year old Great Pyranees Catahoula leopard dog mix who comes with a personality to match. She is a true Pyrenees with the drive of a Catahoula. She loves patrolling the yard / house and will be vocal when things are amiss. She would do well as a 70/30 indoor outdoor dog as she loves to be outside but is accustomed to coming in for water food and nighttime. She is snuggly and oh so soft but will likely want to lay somewhere cool like tile flooring or a bath tub. She loves playing catch with a ball or frisbee! She would do better as an only dog or with other male dogs as her breeds are not comparable with other females it seems. We would like her to go to a home who’s familiar with the breeds as her behaviors are special and we believe should be treated as such. A home without kids or with older kids is preferred. She is accustomed toddlers who know to leave her be and has not been left alone with children due to the high drive of her breeds. Please ask any questions!
