Story
Meet Hera, a 5-year-old Great Pyrenees mix with a heart as big as her fluffy self. Hera's previous owner passed away, and she's now looking for a new place to call her own. This gentle giant is the sweetest with people, never meets a stranger, and gets along great with kids. Hera is a total couch potato who loves to lounge around, whether it's on the couch or in the yard. Hera is a classic Great Pyrenees, which means she'll bark at passersby, making her a great pretend guard dog, since she sounds loud and scary but is actually a giant marshmellow. She's lived with one dog before but isn't a fan of dogs she doesn't know. Hera should be the only pet in the household as she prefers not to have other dogs in her face. However, she's calm around them as long as they leave her alone, making walks and vet visits a breeze. If you're looking for a gentle, loving, and loyal companion who enjoys a laid-back lifestyle, Hera might be the perfect match for you. She's ready to bring her sweet and calm demeanor into a new home where she can be the star of the show. If you're ready to adopt within the next 24-48 hours and want to learn more about, meet, or adopt this pet, you can start the process in one of two ways: Come in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30p-3:00p. For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) coming in ASAP is the fastest way to adopt! **OR** Click on the pink "Adopt me" button to submit an adoption inquiry. Watch your email for a response from us! Adopting through this process will take several days and highly desirable pets are likely to no longer be available. PLEASE NOTE: Adoption inquiries are not holds or reservations. Pets are adopted by the first person we talk with who is a good match for the pet's needs. Multiple inquiries are accepted for each pet. All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter -treatment of fleas & ticks -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.

Story
Noey is a 5 year old female purebred Great Pyrenees. She has been great with our family for the past couple years, but with the growth of our family, we feel our home may not be the best place for her. She definitely requires more yard space, plus more attention than we have been able to provide. She is a very loving, sweet, and caring dog. She's been proven to be a great protector, especially against wildlife and strangers. She's very expressive and will always display her emotions as obvious as she can. When she is happy, she is very energetic and as goofy as can be for her breed. She does not do well with living with other dogs, however. We had fostered another dog for only a couple months and was not willing to really share anything. She was very protective of her stuff. We hope to find her a 1 dog family, with enough yard and time to give her everything she could possibly want.

Story
We have more dogs being turned into rescue. We will keep our site update as they come in, are vetted and determined ready to be adopted. If you have never had a Pyr Puppy you need to read this : http://www.nepyresq.org/page/i-want-a-great-pyrenees-puppy-50.html The application process is to go to our website and fill out an adoption application form. http://www.nepyresq.org/page/adoption-process-47.html We do not accept INVISIBLE fencing for the following reasons: 1) Most Pyrs ignore the pain and go through it. 2) This is a guardian breed and this fencing does not keep people or other animals out of your yard. The Pyr could take them as a threat or be attacked. WE do not allow them to be tied out. It makes them aggressive. If you do not have a fenced yard then a fenced area would be acceptable. Most of these dogs are not a dog park breed. They bark a lot and can bother your neighbors.

Rose (aka Rainey) - DOB 10/27/2017 spayed female. She was ours and one of the Iowa 5 dogs we took in back in 2018. She was adopted in 2019. The Owners are not well. She is good with other animals. Extremely shy of new people but no aggression there. She will do best in a home with another dog. Rose will need time to warm up to you. She MUST have a fenced yard. She will take time for you to be able to touch her and to leash her. You must earn her trust. Please go to our website if you are interested in one of our dogs. Story
Juniper (aka Juni) is a beautiful, energetic young female about 3-4 years old. She was a stray that was not claimed. We can't imagine why. She loves to play with toys and other dogs and is especially fond of kids. This girl is definitely a socialite and would love an active home with siblings, both human and animal alike. She is a bit of a digger and escape artist so she will need a VERY secure fenced yard. A run will not work with Juniper as she needs the freedom to play and run to get out her wiggles. Juniper is spayed, in great health, and has had all of her shots. Once she’s in your home, you’ll want her love forever! She would make a great therapy dog. She is in a foster home in West Springfield, Mass. She is microchipped. Please go to our website if you are interested in one of our dogs. It explains the process and has an application you can fill out there. . If it goes through you will get an email from nepyresq@gmail.com with the next steps of the process. http://www.nepyresq.org/page/adoption-process-guidelines-48.html
