Story
I may be 10, but I like to think of myself as senior in high school, so handsome and young-looking! I’m also just learning how to be a dog! Toys and bones have become some of my favorite things along with lots of love. I really enjoy walks and my foster mom says I’m great on a leash if you don’t mind me exploring both sides of the sidewalk. Since I came to KC REGAP in January, I’ve learned that most humans are actually really nice and now I love to meet new people; I get so excited! I’m not sure about other dogs along the sidewalk, and I definitely don’t do well with small dogs or cats. In the backyard, you won’t find me doing zoomies yet; I haven’t quite figured that out. However, I have discovered my voice and love to let you hear it when I get excited or am ready to play! I’m super gentle with treats!  I am learning the rules of the house and have done okay with my foster sister, but my mom says I would really do well as an only dog! That way I get to get all the attention. My ideal household would be one with older human siblings (teenage+) or adults. I still get startled and will let you know if I don’t like something, but my foster mom says I’ve made huge improvements since I came to KC REGAP. Patience is key with me as I’m still adjusting my personal space; but I will lean in real hard (almost knocking you over) as I show you affection! Story
We are 4 years old and bonded.  Sisters Sophie and Sissy need your help. This loveable pair came to REGAP recently and their situation is a difficult one. Sophie has end stage kidney disease and is undeniably bonded to Sissy. Both girls are 4 years old and have been together since they were puppies. We’re looking for a furever home for both girls. They love people and are sponges for affection. However, Sophie cannot tolerate cats or other dogs (except for Sissy). We’re unsure of what Sophie’s life expectancy will be, but right now she is showing no symptoms of her illness. Both are very happy, personable girls. They love to play and go on walks (they’re both great on a leash). For the home who adopts these pups, REGAP would pay for Sophie’s special kidney diet and anything else needed for her comfort in this hospice situation. Her adoption fee would be waived. Sissy is fine with other dogs. Like her sister, she is not cat safe. When Sophie passes, Sissy will need a canine companion – be it a foster dog or a furever pup who joins the household (this new dog could not join the home until after Sophie passes). We want to give these girls the happiest lives by keeping them together and spoiling sweet Sophie as she lives out her final days. Can you open your heart and home to these sweethearts? Please send any and all questions to: information@kcregap.org We adopt within 1 1/2 hours of Kansas City.August 18, 2024, 2:21 pm

Story
“Big Hearted” Bristol     When you first meet Bristol, it’s almost impossible not to notice his big front feet.  What is even bigger but can’t be seen or measured from the outside is the size of his heart.  Greyhounds are referenced as “gentle giants” and Bristol fits that title in every way. He is gentle with his affections, walking on leash, consuming food or treats, and with all his fellow housemates. Bristol wags his tail happily when he meets people and other dogs alike.  He is easy-going and ready to be a great addition to a loving family.  Might that family be yours? Come meet Bristol and see for yourself. We adopt within 1 1/2 hours of Kansas City.August 18, 2024, 2:21 pm

Story
Roo is probably the most affectionate, loyal greyhound you’ll ever meet! He’s a great snuggler and a fantastic walker who gets much attention for his beautiful, elegant gait on the leash (not to mention his most gorgeous, big, brown eyes). He is the perfect dog-friendly coffee shop or brewery patio companion who stays right by your side and is wonderfully social with people of all ages! He is very well-behaved, quiet, house trained, friendly great in the car and loves nothing more than playing fetch in the backyard. Roo not only adores people, but this sweet, caring boy has also adopted quite a collection of stuffed animals - he enjoys showing his “babies” off to anyone who walks in the room. Although he is not cat-safe, he is impressively dog friendly on-leash, and off-leash with mature, well-mannered dogs of all breeds, providing he gets mindful & gradual introductions. Roo is a big boy with a big heart and would absolutely love a forever home with someone looking for a mature, low-key “Velcro dog” to provide plenty of companionship.   We adopt within 1 1/2 hours of Kansas City.August 18, 2024, 2:21 pm

Roo walks well on a leash and is happy to follow your lead. He likes to watch cars and may want to chase them but is very responsive to slight leash correction.  Roo is a handsome, fawn boy who is 5 years old. He is sweet,  playful, and definitely enjoys being with his humans.  Roo needs help with socialization and learning good greyhound dog to dog manners getting excited easily.  Roo will benefit from being with a family where someone is more home than not.  He is cat safe and fine with other dogs with  a proper intro.  He LOVES his people and will enjoys being with you as much as possible.
