Story
Meet Zara, a sweet and gentle 4.5-year-old Havanese weighing around 10 pounds. This shy girl takes her time warming up to new people and dogs, but once she trusts you, she’ll be your devoted companion. She’s a bit skittish with loud noises but shows her brave side by cautiously investigating what startled her. Zara enjoys the simple pleasures in life—playing in the backyard, curling up to watch TV, and soaking up belly rubs. While she’s still mastering house training, she does well with a consistent schedule and is eager to learn.
Zara is an independent little pup who can handle stairs with ease and sleeps quietly in her crate through the night. She’s not a picky eater, making mealtime a breeze. Though she may take some time to come out of her shell, she will thrive in a patient and loving home that understands her need for a gentle approach. If you’re looking for a quiet, loyal companion who will reward your kindness with unwavering love, Zara just might be the perfect match for you!
Zara is currently being fostered in Union, NJ. Her adoption fee is $600.
Zara is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well.

All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
