Story
Sassy is currently at county pound but we will pull her if we can find a foster.Sassy and 8 other dogs were taken from abusive owners. Prior to being seized, Sassy lived indoors and never went outside. We have a volunteer who has gone to the shelter and has taken Sassy for walks and reports that Sassy is a wonderful dog! She is good on a leash and loves belly rubs.Sassy needs to be on a strong leash at all times. She gets spooked easily (remember, all of this is new to her) by cars, loud noises, etc.Sassy is approximately 40 pounds. She has been spayed. Sassy lived with dozens of cats prior to being seized and taken to the shelter.Apply to foster Sassy and help her learn to trust people and gain confidence at ricopetrecovery.org

Story
Meet Marko and Phoenix! Their owners rescued them in 2021 but are now hoping to rehome them together due to young children. They are both loving, playful, and would do best in a home with a fenced in yard. Phoenix is a 4 year old female and is spayed/microchipped. She is a sweet girl with a more laid back, independent personality. Marko is a 6 year old male and is neutered/microchipped. He loves being around people with exception to the vet, but his anxiety at visits has improved as trust has been built. Both are crate/potty trained and up to date on shots.

Story
Miss Naomi. Siberian Husky. Possibly a hybrid. She has piercing hazel-blue eyes and unique facial features/markings. She is spunky and fun. Naomi has a neat personality, knows some commands, Loves snacks and belly rubs. When she connects with you she connects. She has been nothing but gentle and sweet with us at the shelter. Gets super excited when she sees us but can be leery of strangers. She has met other dogs and did well. She also met a cat at the vet and was non reactive (but she was very afraid and stressed at the vet so this may have caused her to be disconnected).Naomi is underweight. We are working on that at the shelter. She was found on 7/3/2023 with No collar, No ID, No Microchip in Westfield Township.Morrow County Dog Shelter, Mt. Husky fun facts

Fun Facts:

The Husky's name may be the result of linguistic confusion. It is believed the Eskimos were referred to as "Eskys,"; this abbreviation might have been applied to their dogs, resulting in "Husky." The term "Husky" goes back in written record to 1850.

In 1925, Huskies were responsible for saving the Alaskan city of Nome from a diptheria epidemic. Called the "Serum run," a team of Huskies ran the lifesaving serum to Nome, effectively rescuing the city's inhabitants.

Huskies are a very vocal breed, with a howl that can be heard up to ten miles away!
