Story
Violet (A134107) is a 2-year-old Alaskan Husky who weighed 47.1 pounds on intake! 01/23/25 Miss Violet, previously known as Timber is back at the shelter due her owner leaving the state and not being able to bring her along. Miss Violet was said to do well with adults and strangers and to be submissive around other dogs. She does not have experience with children, so please use caution if planning to introduce her to any. Violet has shown a high prey drive towards small wild animals in the past, so she may do best in a home without small animals or cats. She was said to be kennel trained and housebroken and was described as being outgoing, friendly and affectionate. She was said to ride well in the car and to be gentle when playing. She could stand to learn some manners, as she has been known to jump on people. She has been known to dig, so make sure she has plenty of enrichment to keep her occupied! Violet has been working on her commands, already knowing `sit` and `lay.` If you are interested in meeting Miss Violet, please give the shelter a call!4/12/24 Timber arrived at the shelter as a stray after being found at Olnes pond. Timber was initially pretty shy at the shelter, but we have seen her start to really come out of her shell! Since she was a stray we do not know if she has any history with children or other animals. Please ensure you are always doing appropriate introductions with any and all new friends. Timber did arrive at the shelter with an upset stomach and has been on medication which seems to be helping! We do not know if Timber is housebroken and it is hard to tell with her gi upset. She is looking for a patient owner who can help her with whatever she needs as far as potty training, kennel training, and basic commands. Timber is also looking for an owner who can help keep her mentally and physically stimulated. She may enjoy becoming a skijor or bikejor buddy in the future! If you are interested in meeting Timber, please let us know! January 23, 2025, 11:16 pm

Story
Duke (A137233) is an 8-year-old husky mix who weighed nearly 70 lbs at intake!01/17/25 This good ol' boy is Duke! Duke was reluctantly brought to the shelter after a house fire. He is a gentle boy who was said to do well with babies and children of all ages. He was described as being shy but friendly. He can be a sensitive boy. Duke does not like loud noise, like fireworks, and he is afraid of water! He also does not like to bark, but he will growl-talk at you when he wants something, like to be let outside to potty. Duke was said to get along with other dogs, as well as cats. He is an older boy, so he was sent out for a workup and dental courtesy of our amazing Shelter Fund! He is now in tip top shape and ready to find a new couch to laze on. If you are interested in this sweet senior guy, please give the shelter a call!January 23, 2025, 6:29 pm

Story
Alpine is such a sweet and spunky girl. When she first arrived to the shelter, we couldn’t help but notice how stinking cute she was, which is another reason why it was so surprising when she wasn’t claimed by her previous owner. Alpine is trusting and really wants to be loved but can be a little shy when first meeting. She will need an owner who is able to continue socializing so she knows the world doesn’t have to be such a scary place! Alpine is very affectionate and once she warms up to you, she’ll be your best friend. Side note, she thinks she’s a lap dog at times! Alpine does appear to be mostly potty trained but may need some redirection once in her new home. Please keep in mind that she will need time to adapt to her new home! Alpine does walk well on a leash, knows the cue “sit” and is very well behaved in her kennel. She has been friendly towards the other dogs and seems eager to make friends! We can accommodate a dog meet and greet prior to adopting if needed. Alpine would love a home that can provide her with a positive outlet for her energy. We imagine her being the type of girl who loves all things that the great outdoors has to offer! She is such a good girl who could make a very loving / loyal companion!

Story
Cookie (A137247) is an 11-month-old husky mix who weighed nearly 70 lbs at intake!01/18/25 This comical pair of siblings are Cookie and Shaddow! These two were said to be husky and lab mixes, but given the variation between the two of them they could be a Heinz 57 mix of all kinds of breeds! These two were brought to the shelter due to no fault of their own. They have been together their whole lives, but they seem to do well separately on their own as well. These two love to play, but they can be rough at times. They were said to do well with babies and children, but they can sometimes be too rough with littles. Please use caution if introducing them into a home with little ones. They were also said to get along with other dogs, but they have no experience with other animals. Cookie and Shaddow have been known to jump fences, so they will need to be secured or supervised when outdoors. They were said to love being outside though! Both Cookie and Shaddow could stand to learn so manners, as they have been known to get into the trash and to jump up on counters when given the opportunity. They would both probably do great in basic obedience class with a certified trainer! They have also been known to chew, so make sure they have plenty of appropriate chew toys and enrichment to keep them occupied! If you are interested in meeting either Shaddow or Cookie, please give the shelter a call!January 23, 2025, 5:00 pm

Story
Whiskey (A137251) is a 1-year-and-1-month-old AK Husky x Lab mix who weighed 50.6 pounds on intake! 01/20/25 This happy energetic guy is Whiskey! Whiskey is looking for a home that can match his energy and continue working with his needs. His prior owner stated he is the best but does have some behavioral concerns that he still needs help with. Whiskey does love jumping on people when he greets them, can be vocal and a chewer, and his last owner also stated that he can become protective over his food/high priority treats. We encourage his next owner to work with a certified trainer and see how best to set him up for success! He is a smart boy and with some positive guidance he can master anything he sets his mind to! Whiskey was already said to be kennel trained, housebroken, and knows a variety of commands like sit, lay, shake, and roll over! Whiskey was described as having a rough style of play but enjoys romping around with other dogs with similar play styles. He has no experience around cats, pocket pets, livestock, or children/babies. If you plan on introducing him to new friends, please ensure you make appropriate introductions and supervise the interactions! If you feel that Whiskey could be the right dog for you and you are interested in meeting him, please let us know! January 23, 2025, 5:00 pm
