Story
Spike has a story with us and we’d like to share it with you. Spike is a three year old Husky mix. He came from the Northwest Territories SPCA when he was 8 weeks old. He was a happy friendly puppy who loved the female dog, cat, and kids in his foster home. He was adopted as a puppy and then abandoned, dropped at the neighbour`s house when he was 7 months old. She only realized he had been a rescue pup from his microchip when she took him to the vet. He had a limp and she contacted us saying she cared for him but he was too puppy for an older lady. We brought him back into care and we realized that he would periodically limp. The vets said he was born with a shorter back leg, and it was accommodating his active lifestyle but starting to cause him consistent pain. He would need to be on pain medication or have it amputated for better quality of life. So BARS decided to give him a pain free, active, happy life and amputate his short leg. It was a tough few days after surgery but he healed up amazingly. He is running, playing and back to his best self. Spike is ready for a family to love him forever. If Spike could speak he would ask for lots of outside space, a safe place to sleep at night. Cats, cats and more cats, as he absolutely loves them and protects them. He is good with female dogs after proper introductions but hasn’t had much luck sharing a home with another male. Spike loves toys and can carry multiple toys in his mouth at once. He is a smart, funny and vibrant character that will add so much love and excitement to your home.

Story
Hey, I`m Ghost, I`m a beautiful year old husky mix. I will need a fenced yard as the Husky in me makes me want to run and explore. I am good with other dogs, cats, and kids. I am a very happy go lucky girl. I know my basic commands and have good recall when off-leash. I love people so much that I like to cuddle on their laps.

Story
Poppy is currently one of EHS's longest residents and would love to find her new family soon! To help, her adoption fee has been partially sponsored by generous donors. EHS volunteer comment: "Poppy is a joy to walk. Easy going, and tranquil with an affectionate nature. She may give me the occasional jump on our walks or a kiss on the hand but she's just showing her love and sweetness. She is a quiet girl and is happiest enjoying the great outdoors. She likes human companionship, pets and scratches and her house training is very good."This sweet girl loves the great outdoors and will be your perfect companion for all your adventures. Whether it's a hike in the mountains, a walk around the park, or simply running around the yard, Poppy is all about fun and exploring. Poppy is friendly, loving, and ready to find her forever home. Story
PK is a beautiful fun-loving Husky/German Shepard. I am hoping to rehome PK as I work a lot and it saddens me to see him unstimulated and unhappy when I am not home. My disabled mom has also developed an allergic reaction to PK and I am not able to keep him for much longer. PK is very energetic, so having a big space to run and/or having regular walks and play time are important. I am hoping that PK will be adopted and find a loving home that could provide him with all the love and attention that he needs and deserves. I will be providing $400 to PK's new adoptive parent(s) to help with giving him the best possible comfortable living conditions.

Story
Beautiful husky girl Chiquita, born April 2023, is looking for a home. She is approximately 41 lbs. Her mum and littermates were often seen wandering in the area of the SPCA PV sanctuary and staff and volunteers saw them in deteriorating condition due to a diet heavy on garbage and took them in to give them the care they needed. After she got refuge in the sanctuary, she lived through a hurricane which heavily damaged the shelter, and she had temporary refuge in a home that unfortunately had a landlord that didn't allow dogs.. but in that time, she learned what a home is and what it is meant to be loved. Chiquita is an energetic girl so she’d love a yard with some space to burn off some zoomies but was in a foster home in an apartment. She loves the beach. Her foster mom just loved her, described her as a fast learner, and a great cuddler. She has learned basic commands - sit, come, waits to eat her food. She isn't destructive in the home and did well in the car. She is selective with other dogs, and can be reactive, and would squabble with her siblings. Kids make her nervous so she'd prefer a quiet adult home where she can learn more about the world. Chiquita would be best in a home without cats as she shows high prey drive. Video of Chiquita with her shelter friends: https://www.facebook.com/spcapv/videos/1401202434079126 She is now healthy and vaccinated. If you think you might be her happy home, please contact us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com for more information. Chiquita is currently in Mexico but would love to join her forever home in Canada
