Story
📣 Calling all Southeast BC and Southwest AB friends! Everett is a 1 year old male husky, available for adoption through PIF but currently being fostered outside of our usual area. We are hoping there may be potential adopters near the East Kootenay region to allow for ease with meets etc. Everett also LOVES the snow, the mountains, and the cold - So he would be well suited to stay in the Rockies if possible! 🏔 Everett has a lot of traits that are typical of huskies - He is extremely smart, sweet, stubborn, and has a high level huskitude. He knows basic commands, but has the potential to learn so much more with proper training. Like his sled dog ancestors, Everett has a VERY strong pull drive. He is 70 solid pounds and puts his full weight against the leash (…and even more if he sees another dog), so his human will need a strong upper body - and also a strong desire to take him on outdoor adventures! Everett loves to run, play, and explore. He would be a great hiking, snowshoeing, or jogging buddy. He isn't the kind of husky who needs a marathon every day, but he does need more than just a walk around the block to keep him from going squirrelly. Everett has a beautiful off switch after he's had adequate attention and time outside. And like most huskies he sheds, a lot 😁 Everett is all heart when it comes to his people. He loves so hard, and is extremely loyal and affectionate towards the humans he knows and trusts. He follows his people everywhere, melts into a puddle of floof with belly and chest rubs, and is the happiest dog in the whole world if given the privilege of full-body-contact snuggles. However, when it comes to people Everett doesn't know or trust he can act unsettled and be quite protective of his yard/home/personal space. He appears to be most triggered by adult men of a large stature, and has air snapped at several men who reached or moved into his territory. Everett will need a home with a well fenced yard and without frequent visitors, where his social circle can remain limited and his human interactions be calm and controlled. He would thrive with a human who is is steady and confident, who is understanding of his breed, and who has experience with reactivity. Everett loves to roughhouse and would do very well with a young, energetic, large breed doggy sibling (though he can be a bit of an attention hog, so would also be content on his own!). Like most huskies he has a prey drive and should not be around cats, small dogs, chickens, or puppies. Homes with children of any age, including teenagers, will not be considered out of an abundance of caution. Everett is crate trained, house trained, and non-destructive when left alone inside. He is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccines, but potential adopters should be aware that Everett is suspected to have a condition called Zinc Responsive Dermatosis. Specific to northern breeds, Zinc Responsive Dermatosis causes Everett to be prone to ear infections, eye infections, and skin lesions around his mouth and muzzle. Everett's symptoms are well controlled with diet (nothing fancy, just a special kibble found online and in most pet stores that is high in the nutrients he needs), however he still experiences the occasional flare-up. Everett's current vet has established a great treatment protocol, so the frequency/severity of his symptom flare-ups is decreasing. This condition is lifelong though, so Everett will need a family who is comfortable with caring for the physical needs of a ‘dermatology dog' (if you've been there, you'll know…), and who is prepared for the additional costs associated with more frequent veterinary visits. So if your social life is small, your love of outdoor adventures is big, and your heart is shaped like a husky, we'd love to hear from you. Everett is such a good boy and he deserves a very good home.

Story
If you want to bring a little joy into your life then you'll want to bring home Joel! ♥️ This guy is sweet and loving, bouncy and silly, full of energy, chatty, a dream to walk on a leash and just one happy dude! Joel is an 18-month-old Husky that is approximately 45 pounds. 🐶He does great with other dogs that match his high energy as he wants to play nonstop! He doesn't love sharing food with other dogs though, so eating solo is recommended. If other doggos are around, Joel just wants to play, but he will have a sweet snuggle when he's solo with his humans. 🥰 🧑‍🤝‍🧑He does love all humans big and small, he thinks everyone is the best thing ever and his bestest friends! He is a little mouthy when playing so he will need to keep learning that that is not ok! Kids can reach into his bowl and feed him without issue though, so the resource guarding is only reserved for other dogs. Joel is a dream on the lash, no pulling or concerns there. 🧠He is also a smartie, this guy thrives on brain games when he can't run and play! He also loves the finer things in life like laying down on the top step of the pool to cool off. 🏊 He is still learning all about potty training, but is picking it up quickly and having less accidents. Joel takes a moment to calm in his kennel and will whine, but does settle. He will chew any bed left in the kennel with him. 🐈He will chase a cat if they run, what dog wont?! But he shows no signs of aggression and is very curious. Jumping for joy for Joel? Click below.

A little bit about me: - Good with new people - May be good with dogs pending successful introduction - No cats or small animals - Unknown with childrenAre you ready to meet your newest adventure buddy? If you lead an active life and love any form of water, we may have the perfect companion for you!Storm came to us after weaning her litter of puppies, having shown an incredible amount of resilience and care, but now it's her turn to find her perfect forever home!Storm has an abundance of energy and is always ready to explore new places and meet new people. She has an intelligent, curious and playful nature, meaning she would likely excel in agility, with puzzle toys, or as a jogging partner, but she would need regular mental and physical stimulation to keep her happy. She also loves to "help" with the hose and play in the pool, sometimes bobbing for tennis balls to be thrown for her.Storm may be able to live with another dog who doesn't mind her high energy, or when she plays a little rough, but is not suited to living with cats or small animals. She would love to be the center of attention in her new home, promising to make every day brighter with her playful antics, sweet nature, and to return the love she gets many times over.If you are interested in adopting Storm, please submit an application to the Shuswap branch through the link below!https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Red Brown Weight: 23.8 Age: 1yrs 2mths 3wks
