Story
I adopted Tykotae about 9 months ago from a shelter. He was shy to new people at first. Not sure if he was socialized before then. He may have been a stray for awhile. He now is very friendly to strangers and loves to meet other dogs. Since he is a Husky mix, he has a high prey drive and will run off quickly. Traits tend to lean toward the Husky part of him. A secured fenced yard is a must to keep him protected. You have to keep him on a leash before opening doors or he will sneak past to run off. As time passes & he bonds with you, him wanting to bolt subsides a bit except for prey. He loves looking out our windows most of the day. He loves walks as well, but tugs quite a bit. Be careful in hot temps because of his long coat. He is a loving dog and enjoys chest rubs. He loves to play, fetch (fenced yard), but can be mouthy/grabby. He would make a great dog for the right person who can be patient. There is an adoption fee to make sure he is adopted to someone who wants him & not resold

Story
My sister & I found Diamond on Facebook. Her previous owner was extremely willing to re-home her & showed no signs of remorse or anything. She is spayed/neutered (I can provide those records). However, she is NOT house trained at all. Despite NUMEROUS attempts to train her outside of our townhome, she refuses to go outside or even hint that she needs to go outside. This makes me believe that she is not well-suited to live in a townhome/apartment. She needs her very own house with a nice big fenced in yard. She also has a major jumping/biting issue. Nothing my sister & I try to do to train her is working. She is good with kids when she's calmed down, however, when riled up too much, she can very easily knock young children over & bite to no extent. So, in part of this re-homing process, young children are not recommended. In conclusion, Diamond needs an actual house to live in, a nice yard to run around & potty in, & experienced OR willing to train owners.

Husky Alaskan Malamute

Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Akela was snatched from the jaws of unwarranted euthanasia around Christmastime by my father-in-law. She had spent her first year of life chained in a backyard. Since my father-in-law does not have the space for a husky, he asked if we would consider taking her in. The trial run went well! Akela was aloof for a few weeks, but soon she was the most affectionate dog I had ever had! You could tell she was feeling love for the first time in her life. Once Akela became comfortable, she and our senior dog began having conflict over food. We now feed them separately. In play, Akela gradually assumed the dominant role. Tragically one night, she redirected her aggression toward our senior dog and tried to kill her. It breaks our heart, but we knew then we had to rehome. Akela adores her humans!!! She would thrive in a home with dog-savvy adults and no other dogs.
