Story
Ziggy is a 5-year-3-month old Siberian Husky weighing 70 pounds. He came to the shelter due to his owner no longer being able to care for him. If you've never had a husky please do your homework before adopting one! Ziggy is friendly with everyone he meets. Treat motivated. Knows commands sit & shake. He loves to go on walks. His favorite toys here at the shelter are stuffed toys with squeakers. He absolutely loves to cuddle with people! Does well when being brushed. Rarely barks here at the shelter. Does well on car rides. Does not like visiting the veterinarian...at all! He doesn't know his own size so small children are not recommended. His adoption fee is $150, this includes his neuter, heartworm test, vaccines current, deworming, heartworm/flea prevention and micro chipped. His dog license is also required to be purchased for Sandusky County residents at time of adoption, which is an additional $21.00. Please visit the shelter to meet him, we show dogs Monday through Friday 1pm-4:30pm and Saturday 1pm-3:30pm. Once you have visited the shelter, you are then eligible to submit an adoption application for review. Please note, we do not offer same day adoptions and there is a $10 non-refundable application fee.Come and meet your new best friend today! The Humane Society of Sandusky County is open Monday -Friday 1pm - 5pm and Saturdays from 1pm - 4pm. Also, be sure to check us out on FaceBook!

Story
Timber was transferred in from a local dog warden. He is VERY shy at first with people but does warm up very well. He loves other young dogs and follows their lead to show him how great people can be! He is okay with kids but would do better in a home with ages 10+! I think he could adjust to younger, but would be better suited for a less chaotic home at this point in life. He is very playful and does need to be with other dogs. He could run for hours with his foster dog friends! He will require a fenced in yard due to fear of leash. This is also something we are working on. He is crate trained and does very well in it. He’s not as vocal as your typical husky! He is a very loving guy once you put some time and patience into him. He stays right by your side and loves to be close to you! Give him a chance and you will be inseparable! Adoption Application: https://www.nickensfamilyrescue.com/adoptionapplication

Cocoa has her forever home! Meet Sweet Cocoa!! Cocoa is 9 years old and weights 60 lbs. Cocoa is house-trained, and knows basic commands (sit, stay, down). Cocoa is smart and very sweet! She is a perfect house dog and can be left "home alone". Unfortunately, her owner had health issues and could no longer care for Cocoa. Now Cocoa is in a temporary foster home with two doggy pals while we search for her forever new home. Cocoa also lived with cats and is cat friendly. Cocoa loves everyone she meets both adults and kids. She loves car rides too. Cocoa needs to lose some weight but don't tell her we said that!;-) She is spayed, vaccinated and in very good health. Cocoa is a wonderful dog! If you are interested in Cocoa, please submit an online application so we can learn a little about you to make sure Cocoa would be a good match for you and your family. We do not do out of state adoptions, due to our trial adoption process. Adoption fee/donation is $ 75.00 If you have specific questions, please email the adoption coordinator at info@loveastraydog.com If you can't foster or adopt, please consider donating to help us with medical expenses and ongoing care. You can mail your donation to: Love-A-Stray, P.O. Story
Hi, I'm Ralphie. I’m one of 8 puppies that were found as strays. We were born around the beginning of November. Our mom appears to be a German Shepherd/Husky mix, and it’s believed that our dad may be a working breed mix like Australian Shepherd or Great Pyrenees. The MBR volunteers say we are some of the smartest puppies they've ever met – we are doing well with potty training and quickly learning basic commands. My foster mom says I’m a brave explorer, and I can sleep all night in my crate without any accidents. I’ve recently learned that I have a voice, and boy do I love to use it! Right now, I weigh about 16lbs, but I’m expected to be large (50-100lbs) when fully grown. Because of my background, my future family must have an active lifestyle that can handle my high-energy nature. Oh… and be prepared for lots of shedding! Gotta love fur to love me! Families with working or livestock guarding breed experience are ideal, but not a requirement. I can't wait to start my life with my furever family! Fill out an application to meet me ASAP! All dogs available for adoption are in foster homes. Please do not visit the location as it is a privately run boarding, training, and grooming facility. Meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only for approved adopters. Age: 9 weeks as of 1/10/25 Adoption fee: $500
