Story
Dom's foster home is still learning about him, and he will be available for adoption on 9/7/2024. In the meantime, feel free to submit an adoption application. Hello there, I'm Dom. I'm a laid-back, easygoing guy just looking for my forever home. They say I'm probably a Husky and Shepherd mix, which makes sense with my striking looks-I've got this cool black and tan coat with just the right amount of fluff, and hey, check out my eyes! One is a bright blue, and the other is a warm brown. People tell me it gives me a unique, mysterious vibe. I was found as a stray, so the folks here don't know much about my past, but that's okay because I'm all about living in the now. I weigh in at a solid 54 pounds, which is just perfect for those who want a medium-sized buddy who isn't too big or too small-I'm just right! I've already been neutered, so I'm ready to move in whenever you are. I'm super chill around other dogs and even cats-no drama here, just good vibes. I'm the kind of dog who's happy to go with the flow. Whether we're taking a stroll or just hanging out, I'm your guy. I promise to be a very good boy, no matter what we're up to. So, if you're looking for a calm, loyal friend who'll always be by your side, I'm right here, waiting for you. Let's make some great memories together! Dom's adoption fee is $275. Story
Macy arrived at NCCR in mid-November after she was discarded by a breeder who had no further use for her. She is an approximately 10-year-old female Husky. Macy seems to be at least partially blind in her left eye. She is a friendly girl who seems to love attention and petting and enjoys being with people. She knows how to walk on-leash, but enjoys her down time as much as her walks. Macy is able to climb low fences, but seems to do well with the shelter’s 6’ fences. She may need work on house training, but seems to be doing very well with it as long as she is kept on a routine schedule. She does not seem to like other dogs much - probably a result of being a breeder mom, she had to always watch out for her pups! Typical of Huskies, she is a shedder, but she loves to be brushed, which makes grooming much easier! If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an  Adoption Application.  *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you.   If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them. NYS Registration #RR028

Story
Kavic arrived at NCCR in mid-November after he was discarded by a breeder who had no further use for him. He is an 8-year-old neutered male Husky. He is quite friendly and loves attention from people. He also knows how to walk on-leash, and is enthusiastic about playing with his toys – he always has a ball in his mouth! He will need work on house training, but catches on quickly with supervision and consistency. Typical of his breed, Kavic can be quite vocal at times, and he enjoys digging a good hole to lie down in when it’s warm outside. He may be able to get along with other friendly dogs if introduced very gradually 1-on-1, but may do best as the only dog in the home. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an  Adoption Application found at caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application.
