Great news! My adoption fee has been paid by someone who loves me and wants me to find a great home. Here's what you need to know about me:My foster knows me better than anyone! Here's what they had to say about me during my time with them:"Snickers is an intelligent young dog that is looking for her best friend to explore the world. She is nervous of new things first as she has not been exposed to many adventures yet, and will need someone who will let her take things at her pace. In her foster home, she has discovered dog toy boxes and playing with other dogs is a great way to spend her time. She enjoys going for walks but is a little wary of loud vehicles and strangers. She is a very sweet dog that just needs to trust someone with her love. Can you help her discover her best life?"It's recommended I meet any dogs or kids living in my new home before I'm adopted. I just want to make sure we all get along.I need a home without cats. We just don't get along - even if they don't mind me, I can't be in the same home with them.I'm currently in foster and ready for my new home! If you're interested in meeting me, please email adoptions@southwesthumane.org. Primary Color: Tri Color Weight: 55 Age: 2yrs 1mths 2wks

Video 1 (copy and paste into a new browser window) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLS7qQ0Yj1I Video 2 (copy and paste into a new browser window) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8F91z-04nVI Badger is a husky mix who was listed at the shelter as 8 years old. When he first arrived, I thought he was much older and that he would be a hospice case. He was stiff and frozen in fear and skinny. He would barely move. I put him in a kennel with younger dogs and he soon found his youthful spirit again and is like a different dog now. I don't know his age for sure but he has lots of life and happiness left in him and I think he is younger than 8. He weighs about 60 lbs now. He learned how to climb out of the 6 ft chain link kennel but he doesn't stray far from it except to follow me on walks. He goes down the pond to take a dip but mostly just hangs out by the kennel. So while he has the skills of a husky to escape, he doesn't have the urge of a husky to run off and go explore. I don't even put him up when I leave because he doesn't go anywhere. He is great with other dogs but sometimes doesn't know how big he is so he wouldn't be good around scared little dogs. He is fine with my chihuahuas but they are very bossy and not scared of anything. For that reason, I also don't think he should be around cats. To be clear, he is not aggressive at all, he just tries to play with everything and with his size that just wouldn't work with a dog or cats that's scared of him. He is very food motivated and walks well on the leash as well. He is an awesome boy and I am glad he didn't die at the kill shelter. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue/reviews (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 2, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative) Adoption fee: $550 (includes the $250 cost of transport from Oklahoma and all vetting listed above) Adoption application (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 FAQs (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://docs.google.com/document/d/12eb_SRtk1AzaBl87UltcLJ24MjH9UhQm_LE77iWZEQA/edit?tab=t.0 Desiderata Rescue is Oklahoma Licensed Rescue #95

Story
Video (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://www.youtube.com/shorts/TsHi5JVRxEM Fate is a funny, happy, loving girl. She is about 7 months old. Her and her siblings were dumped in a plastic tote at only 3 weeks old. Sadly, most of them broke with parvo and only Fate and her sister Faith survived. She loves playing with all friends, going on walks, playing in the pond and creek. She likes to be with her humans but also likes to just explore the woods on her own. She has been around dogs of all sizes and cats since she was rescued at 3 weeks old. She is currently still in Oklahoma where she was rescued but she can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. Story
We adopted Yuki in October from Oregon Dog Rescue. It breaks my heart to think of rehoming her because she is the sweetest girl, but her and our 7 year old dog are not integrating well so we are making the tough decision. She is curious, cuddly, and super playful. She hasn't had any aggressive tendencies in the 4 months that she has been with us - gets along well with other dogs, loves to sit by our infant niece, and has had sleepovers with cats as well. She knows all of the basic commands - with me, sit, stay, down, go potty. We have worked with a trainer the last month and work with her everyday ourselves. She is VERY treat motivated which makes her super easy to train. She does have a lot of energy (as puppies do) but is fine when she gets plenty of exercise and mental enrichment. We take her to the park daily, loves running. I think she would do best in a home that has either a dog that's on the younger side that can put up with puppy energy, or a home without another dog.
