Story
Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.small sweetie ready to play! SAM NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Sam      Best Guess for Breed: Jack Russell terrier and chihuahua mix   Best Guess for Age:   2 years as of April 2024       SEX: Male   Approximate Weight:  23 lbs   Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats but he can be tested. Sam cannot go to a home with kids under age 15.   Currently Living at:  DC area foster   Check out this video of Sam: https://youtube.com/shorts/N-9ZEnGu1XM?si=Vof5zYEnwQRfa8Iq   Special adoption considerations: Sam needs to go to a home with a resident dog to help him gain more confidence. Due to his shyness and nervousness, we do not recommend him for a home with children under the age of 15. Sam is nervous around men as well. We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.   Sam is Looking For:   His forever home! This cutie, through no fault of his own, landed in the shelter. He's looking forward to his new chapter, eagerly awaiting all the sniffy walks he will get with his new humans, romps in the park, and all the adventures they can dream up. He's out of the puppy yips and as a wise, experienced dog, knows what's most important in life: Being safe and loved and under his own roof, and that's right at the top of his wish list. Right now, he's shy and unsure in new environments, so he needs extra patient and loving adopters who will help him become more confident in new places, and a welcoming resident dog who will show him how to dog! In exchange, he offers all the adoring gazes and happy tail wags he's stockpiling at the shelter and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Can you see Sam trotting by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: Sam is adjusting very well and becoming more confident every day. He is still shy when outside and will stay close on walks while he frequently looks at you. He understands going to the bathroom outside but has his favorite places to go - #1 is the dog park!   Inside he is more bouncy and playful. He does have a rougher play style but hasn’t been destructive with anything. He gets along well with the resident dog and they play a lot. I would describe his energy level as medium+. He gets nervous when he sees big dogs and wants to observe them before greeting.   He is learning house manners, basic commands, and takes gentle corrections well. He does very well in the crate and will settle when asked. He loves giving and receiving affection and has the potential to be a snuggler given time and patience so he can fully relax in his environment. Medical: Sam was heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! She is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we arrange for a follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  Sam has already completed all these steps and tested negative at her six month test!    Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.   Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!  Please visit us online at    www.luckydoganimalrescue.org   .    BE A FOSTER!!!    Fosters make it possible for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue to save and care for homeless and abandoned dogs!  To learn about fostering, please contact    fostering@luckydoganimalrescue.org   ! To learn more about our upcoming events and to see which event she will be attending, please visit our event page at https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/ (*please note that the specific event pages are typically updated on Fridays with information on which dogs will be attending which events*) Meet Amelie, a joyful 6-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix who’s ready to make 2025 your best year yet! Amelie is a spirited pup who loves walks, playtime, and cuddling on the couch (gently nudging you if you're not sharing enough of the blankets). She loves people and dogs alike. Amelie is house-trained, treat-motivated, and eager to learn more tricks. She already knows how to "sit" but she would prefer to dance on her hind legs for a treat. Amelie doesn't seem to mind city noises and would be happy in a house or an apartment, so long as she has lots of cuddles and a consistent walk schedule.

Story
If you're looking for a best friend that will want to join you in all your outdoor adventures, ride in the car with you for any field trip, then snuggle up at the end of the day to watch a movie, then look no further! Jax is a 12 year old, 16 lb Jack Russell Terrier. But don't let his age fool you, he is still full of fun and energy and is ready to begin the next phase of his life! Jax had an owner all his life, who he sadly lost in November. Jax would love to find a person, or family, that has the time and love to dedicate to him. He's probably prefer to be an only dog, but he'd be okay in a home with other dogs as well, preferably smaller dogs. He had some separation anxiety when he first moved into his foster home, but who can blame him after the loss he went through. He's mostly house trained and can now stay home alone for a few hours. Jax is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $250 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system. Story
Snuggle Bug Alert!! Slinky is that dog who would be happy if you just carried him around all day long and only put him down for couch snuggles. He is an A+ cuddler and is a little comedian to boot. Slinky has lived successfully with cats and dogs, including a grumpy foster sibling and an overly playful one. He likes stuffed toys and plenty of lap time. Slinky lost his home when his human ran into some legal troubles. People familiar with Slinky and his history reported that his previous took him everywhere he went and carried him like a baby. This, apparently, is how Slinky believes he should live. :-) Slinky needs some time and a gentle intro to warm up to men, but has done well when given a bit of space to decide they are okay. He does very well on a leash and loves a good walk. Slinky is one of our Silver Paws dogs, which means he is over 7 years old and has gotten a senior-specific vet exam and bloodwork. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines and routine diagnostic testing. His adoption fee is $250. For more information about Slinky, email bhutcherson@petconnectrescue.org **If you're viewing this on Petfinder, please visit www.petconnectrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**
