Story
Bit is the sweetest dog ever. He was a rescued puppy and has grown into a sweet, sweet dog. He loves to cuddle, give kisses and loves people. He is a very quiet dog and loves to lay around. I have been the proud owner of Bit for almost three years now and he has shown me nothing but love and affection. Unfortunately, due to working and living arrangements, I am no longer able to keep Bit in our home and need to place him in his new forever home. I will arrange a meet & greet prior to the adoption for all serious applicants to meet with Bit.

She is a super sweet little momma of six and now it’s her turn to be pampered in a loving forever home. She is very energetic and and clever and needs physical and mental stimulation to live her best life and keep her out of trouble.  She would probably be a great agility dog, or a Hollywood star.  This cutie is a happy girl who loves attention and affection and can't wait to be spoiled by her new forever family.   She gets along well with other canines and felines.  Will you be the lucky one to give this beautiful girl the home of her dreams?Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. The little fella's elderly owner passed away and there was no one else who was able to care for him. Luckily, we were able to bring him here and in a wonderful foster home. He was a bit matted so we had to give him a summer cut!  He is in a home with another dog and cats but couldn't care less about them, because all he wants is a human touch. Can this little ball of sweetness come live out his golden years with you?Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. Story
Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.small sweetie ready to play! SAM NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!  Name:  Sam      Best Guess for Breed: Jack Russell terrier and chihuahua mix   Best Guess for Age:   2 years as of April 2024       SEX: Male   Approximate Weight:  23 lbs   Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats but he can be tested. We would be cautious placing him in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise   Currently Living at:  DC area foster   Special adoption considerations: Sam is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months. We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!   Sam needs to go to a home with a resident dog to help him gain more confidence. We would be cautious placing him in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.   Sam is Looking For:   His forever home! This cutie, through no fault of his own, landed in the shelter. He's looking forward to his new chapter, eagerly awaiting all the sniffy walks he will get with his new humans, romps in the park, and all the adventures they can dream up. He's out of the puppy yips and as a wise, experienced dog, knows what's most important in life: Being safe and loved and under his own roof, and that's right at the top of his wish list. Right now, he's shy and unsure in new environments, so he needs extra patient and loving adopters who will help him become more confident in new places, and a welcoming resident dog who will show him how to dog! In exchange, he offers all the adoring gazes and happy tail wags he's stockpiling at the shelter and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Can you see Sam trotting by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: Sam is adjusting very well and becoming more confident every day. He is still shy when outside and will stay close on walks while he frequently looks at you. He understands going to the bathroom outside but has his favorite places to go - #1 is the dog park!   Inside he is more bouncy and playful. He does have a rougher play style but hasn’t been destructive with anything. He gets along well with the resident dog and they play a lot. I would describe his energy level as medium+. He gets nervous when he sees big dogs and wants to observe them before greeting.   He is learning house manners, basic commands, and takes gentle corrections well. He does very well in the crate and will settle when asked. He loves giving and receiving affection and has the potential to be a snuggler given time and patience so he can fully relax in his environment.   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
