Story
BELLA, 9-30-24, female JRT/chi mix, ~15.8yo, 7.4#, SEIZED w/Tippie Like Tippie, Bella came into the shelter in late September as part of a humane case. She was underweight and in terrible shape with crusty skin and anemia from a flea infestation. Her teeth were so bad that one fell out as she received a vaccine. Now on to the good news. Despite her advanced age (15.8 years!), Bella has recovered well after a dental procedure and excellent care in her foster home. She is soaking up the good life and eats and sleeps the day away. She has the cutest little skip to her walk, especially when she wants fed. Bella is not housetrained, most likely due to her age. But if you can get past that, she is a very easy dog. Bella deserves the chance to finally relax—a forever home is the last step. Please call the Athens County Dog Shelter at (740) 593-5415 to meet Bella.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Introducing Russ ~ Hub Cap! Little Russ has a sensitive side. He is very loveable if you give him a little time. Life probably was not all that good to him, so he is a little cautious. His handler in the prison program said that he has come a long way. He is a quiet guy who does not bark and prefers soothing sounds and soft touches. He is not rowdy, so I bet he likes his friends the same. He is leash trained and crate-trained. Russ has been working on some commands in the prison program and is current on his vetting. He has not been kid or cat tested. He would love to continue his growth in his forever home. Russ will be quietly waiting. Story
Hoss is a handsome 2-year old male Terrier (possibly Jack Russell Terrier) mix who was brought to the HSOV on February 13, 2025 by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden along with his best friend (Rose) who had shared his home. Hoss and Rose have been entrusted to our care for the past four weeks or so. They were surrendered to our shelter recently and are ready to find a new home (together) as a bonded pair. This cute young man has a brown-and-white short smooth coat, a long tail, and an adorable symmetrically-marked face with expressive brown eyes, a long slender muzzle, and short floppy ears. These photos were taken on March 9th, 2025 when HSOV Kennel Tech Emma Dahlgren accompanied Rose and Hoss for their outdoor photo sessions. Both of these little sweethearts wanted only one thing ... and that was loving attention from Emma. They kept putting their cute little paws on her and looking up with hopeful eyes to politely ask for attention (and to be carried in her arms) ... And naturally it worked like a charm. Hoss and Rose have sweet dispositions but aren't enthused about being in small floor crates instead of a spacious home (and who could blame them). Please don't judge their behavior in their floor crates. They have a lot to talk about when you first meet them and converse in the only way they know how (bark, bark, bark) ... But they are totally different pups when they are outside those crates. Hoss weighs 22.6 lbs. Hoss and Rose will be neutered/spayed before being adopted by their new family. They are very bonded with each other, so we feel that it is in their best interest to be adopted together.
