Story
We adopted Zora from a last litter program. Went through Cali-K9 training program and is incredibly well-behaved and obedient. Super intelligent. She knows many commands and is sociable around people and older kids. Loves attention and play. She can be left home alone both free roam in a room or in a crate. We are surrendering Zora because she has anxiety which normally does not surface but can be triggered when she is startled/scared. Zora bit husband two years ago when a coffee mug fell and he quickly reached to pick it up. She has developed specific response towards husband where she alternates between periods of anxiety and calmness with him. We have attempted calming aids and other behavioral modifications but Zora does not get along with husband and still gets anxious with him. Infant in home presents new safety risk given her anxiety and we really want Zora to have a comforting home she deserves.

Story
Maui is a beautiful, sweet, and silly 75lb Double Doodle (her wisdom panel shows 45% Labrador Retriever, 32% Golden Retriever, 22% Poodle, and 1% Flat-Coated Retriever). She came to SPAR facing life and death, having to undergo her second gastrointestinal surgery. She luckily pulled through the surgery and the weeks of recovery. She had previously had a foreign body removal 6 months prior as a puppy. Maui is looking for a special home. Having already used two (or more) of her spare lives, her body cannot afford another foreign body removal or gastrointestinal surgery. She cannot have access to any toys or anything left out she can chew on (blankets, dog beds, her leash, plastic dog bowls, etc). She sleeps in her kennel at night and is great around other dogs of all sizes. She is learning about cats in her current foster home and might be okay around dog-savvy cats. She would be okay in a home with older kids that understand the safety concerns of leaving things out where Maui can get into them. She has decent leash manners and enjoys going on walks. She is very smart and would love to take additional obedience classes to bond more with her new family. Maui also has already had an incisional gastropexy, so no future risks of GDV, or “bloat”. If you are interested in meeting Maui, please complete the adoption application. We go through a multi-step process for our dogs that includes meeting at the fosters home, a home inspection, and reference checks.

Story
Leo is a gorgeous 3 year old Great Pyrenees mix who was rescued from death row at the Contra Costa County Animal Shelter. He is an active, happy, affectionate, dog friendly dog. He is potty and crate trained, knows basic obedience, can do a number of tricks, walks great on a leash and is very eager to please. The perfect home for Leo would be an active family with older kids and another dog. We do not recommend children under 10 in the home, as Leo can jump on them when excited and is prone to resource guarding his food. Leo would thrive in an home where he can go on regular walks and get the love he deserves. If interested in meeting wonderful Leo, please complete an application at www.jellysplace.org. Leo is neutered, microchipped and UTD on vaccines. Leo is available for adoption and qualified applicants will be contacted. Leo's adoption fee is sponsored by a Jelly's Place volunteer.

Story
Are you looking for a fun, dog-friendly dog to explore the Bay Area with? Then Moose is your guy! This 2 yr old gorgeous chocolate lab mix has been waiting a year for his forever family. But he still has the biggest smile and is ready to run, fetch, play and be part of the family. Moose is a champion fetcher and like all labs, also likes the water (though he's not too sure about the swimming part.) He's good in the car and wriggles with excitement when he knows he's going somewhere for a new adventure. He's even down for a bath afterwards! Moose is super sweet but can be a little reserved at first. But never fear, he will warm right up and be your new buddy. This guy is GREAT on a leash, very attentive, checking in with you during the walk or run to make sure he's on the right path. He's also very food-motivated, which makes him even more attentive and easy to train. Moose is a young boy with a lot of energy and will thrive in an active home with a yard and another dog (though certainly not required.) He could also be a great role model for a less confident dog who needs to come out of their shell. Come meet him today - you won't be sorry! Moose is crate trained, potty trained, neutered, microchipped and UTD on his vaccines. Applications are being accepted and qualified applicants will be contacted. Moose's adoption fee is being sponsored by a Jelly's Place volunteer.

Story
Clover is a beautiful 2 yo black lab mix with a soft, lush coat that looks and feels like Velvet. Clover is initially reserved when meeting new people, but once she is comfortable with you, her affection knows no bounds. Clover likes playing one on one with male dogs and does well with cats. She is great on leash and loves to ride in the car. Like all labs, she also loves the water. Clover was successfully in a foster home with another dog and a 16 year old - she can sleep with her human or in a crate. Due to a change in housing, Clover is now back in the Shelter. Clover is the perfect family dog - don't delay - she won't last long! Clover is spayed, up to date on her vaccines and microchipped. If you are interested in meeting Clover, please complete an adoption application at jellysplace.org/forms.
