Bono- could be 3 to 5 year old Flat-coated Labradoodle-- he sure has that happy-go-lucky doodle personality!! He does shed- so we really aren't sure. He was in an over-crowded shelter in Wichita, Kansas when I first learned about him. So far he is doing GREAT in temp foster care-- playful with the other dogs, ok with the cats, but great with kids. We would like to find him a happy-go-lucky super fun outgoing family in the Chicago area that could help with his spunky personality. Bono would benefit from daily walks and he absolutely needs a fenced in yard. If you have a fun playful dog in need of a buddy, Bono might be the dog you need!! Scooter was rehomed from a family out of state. He is a loving dog who loves to play. He is a little over a year and still learning his size, weighs 65lbs. He did not have much exposure as a pup, and needs a relaxed environment. He can have a lot of energy, and would need a yard. He loves to play, and cuddle. He can bark at strange noises and when he wants attention. However, is usually quiet in the crate unless he whines to signal that he needs to go. He would do best as an only dog and adult-only or no-children household. And since he is still learning his size, he may be best suited for an experienced adopter. He has a crate, toys, and food to take to a new home.

What a young and silly boy sporting a wiry goatee! Tucker is a 2 year old Labradoodle and he is looking for his new family. He has traded in outdoor farm life for indoor living and thinks it is really swell. Initially he is a little hesitant about meeting new people, but a treat in hand helps him forget his fear and he is happy to meet new people. He fostered in a home with multiple dogs, but we have found that when he is one of two dogs, he tries to protect his new family from the other dog so we prefer to place him in an only dog home. He is hesitant about getting in a car, but once he is in, he is a great rider and seems to enjoy it. He is a very large boy and currently weighs 70#s He is very happy to hang around the house and get pets or to go out in the fenced yard and poke around while is foster mom does yard work. While we are not up to speed on all of the nomenclature for doodles, we do know his mother was the lab and his father was the poodle. His hair is actually great as it is wavy and wiry, but not the grooming nightmare of most doodles. If you have an active family and are looking for a doodle with a great personality that does not have the crazy grooming needs of the curly coats, Tucker may be just the guy for you. Ember is a very energetic and fun medium sized pup (55lbs). She's young (1-2yrs) and vibrant and looking for a home where she can participate in family activities like hikes and walks and Netflix nights. She's as good of a snuggler as she is a jogging companion. Her fur is soft and fluffy and she is lower shedding but we CANNOT guarantee hypoallergenic. She is strong and requires a fit owner who can handle a large and active pup. She did have some matting that resulted in dry skin (hence the shaved spot) that was exmained by a vet who performed a skin scraping to ensure there was no mange or underlying condition (test results were negative). She should be kept on a high quality kibble with fish oil supplements. Ember is located in Houston TX and can be picked up there or we can discuss transport options. Her fee is $850. Full transparency, Walter is a high needs dog with a bite history. He has bitten both owners, our child (1year old) and one guest. Walter is a 4 year old labradoodle purchased from a breeder as a puppy. He is sweet (most of the time), loves walks, chasing after a ball, seek and find games, and seek and destroy games. His high needs: -highly anxious. Loud noises, new people, etc. -resource guarding -reactive -sensitive to grooming (both professional and owner) -barks for attention -jumps when greeting -needs regimen/ schedule and lots of exercise for best behavior He knows all basic commands: sit, stay, down, roll, shake, come He loves kongs, destroying cardboard boxes, squeaky toys, walks and car rides. We are very sad to rehome him but cannot give him the attention he needs and do not want to live in fear he will bite our young child again. Most of his behavior is predictable if you are able to read his body language.

Now they even sleep in bed with their foster mom and dad. July 2024: Happy 3 year birthday girls. We never thought it would be this long to find them a forever home, but I have some new insights into what the girls are all about having baby sat them for a week while their wonderful foster parents were on vacation. As I have a houseful of happy dogs, it did take Poppy a bit longer to feel safe. Allie was happy to meet new friends right away. I do think Poppy is a little protective over her little sister. It took the girls a few hours to feel safe with me but Poppy started trusting me a little sooner than Allie. FOOD was very helpful for us becoming friends and if we find an adopter for our bonded sisters, it won't take long for them to trust if yummy cheese and treats are part of the process. I was also happily surprised how the girls figured out our routine of going in and out and feeling safe in a cage. I didn't have any problems soaking down Allie's kibble and I also added some thawed raw food which she loved and which she was able to eat. These girls would be great candidates for a Farmer's Dog food home-- although I really liked giving them both some yummy, healthful raw. After 2 days the girls were comfortable with all my dogs that's when I started taking photos. They were raised with a lot of dogs in Mississippi- but they started getting attacked by the resident pack and that's when we had to move them north. Around day 5 or 6, both girls really felt comfortable with their new friends and went in and out with no issues. At that time I gave them more freedom to hang out with us which made Allie especially happy so that she could go in the toy box. Both girls are affectionate when they are not afraid. Their foster mom and dad have done a great job with cuddles on the couch and taking them on dog walks too. When Allie is happy, she will nibble on your fingers and Poppy LOVES her head rubbed. Poppy also enjoyed being brushed. Our bonded sisters have waited nearly 3 years to find a forever home-- I am hopeful the perfect family is out there. They are very sweet once they feel safe and are often found cuddling on the couch with their foster dad. As both were recently diagnosed with tick borne disease, treatment is going well. It's just a nightmare in Mississippi with ticks being around all year long. At least we know and we are always transparent with all our adopters if this is a health concern. Our girls have been through so much to get here, we hope we can find them the most perfect loving home. Allie and Abby are a bonded pair of sisters. Abby aka Poppy is in good health and was the best companion to little Allie who needed major surgery to save her life. This is all documented in their Facebook album. Their mom and 2 brothers have moved to Illinois, and we are hopeful we can find a loving family in the Chicago area that can continue to help Allie with her moistened food regimen now that her surgery is over. The girls are best buddies and love to snuggle and cuddle together.
