Story
Please note: this is a courtesy posting. Dog is currently with owner, and they will receive the application. This dog is not the rescues, we are just trying to assist owner find a good home for their dog. Required: live in Rochester NY area. Meet Ross! Ross is a 4.5 year old mixed breed who is a very playful, inquisitive, and loving dog. He loves meeting new people, and loves to zoom around the yard. He also enjoys a quiet day at home where he can be found relaxing, snoozing, laying down outside in the sun, or being a fantastic couch buddy! Ross is excitable on his leash when he sees other dogs, so he does take some anti-anxiety medications to help him with this. With this being said, he takes the job guarding the house very seriously, so outside squirrels and strangers: beware! Ross is housebroken and so good about that. He is not destructive at all, and does not require a crate. He is so smart and knows commands like sit, stay, and shake. Treats are his favorite, but he does love food in general! Ross is in excellent health, and is a truly lovely boy and would make a great dog for a family with older children, or someone looking for a companion. Ideally- he would require a fenced in yard so he can run freely outside and work on his "herding" instincts! To meet with Ross to see if he might be a good match for your home an adoption application is required. https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication This dog is a courtesy posting, we are helping the owner find a suitable home for this pup. Applications will be forwarded to the owner so they can contact you.

Story
Bingo is a 3 year old neutered male Lab Mix. He is recently in from Tennessee. He has a cherry eye which VFA will have done and pay for as soon as it can be scheduled. Bingo is a sweet boy who is good with other dogs. He is also microchipped. Bingo is currently at the Shelter. Volunteers For Animals periodically pulls dogs from other shelters to free up space; this helps avoid euthanizing healthy, adoptable animals. We are able to do this through the generosity of many people such as the originating shelter staff, transporters, foster volunteers and others who help with pulling fees, vet bills and finding good homes once they are here. The adoption process includes an application that is completed by the potential owner. If there are multiple applications on the same animal, the animal will go to the best home for that particular animal - not necessarily the first application. Fees for the rescues animals can range from $100 to $300 per animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If you are interested in any of the Rescue dogs, please email us. Do not call the Shelter regarding rescue animals - they have no information about these dogs. All rescue animals are in foster homes with volunteers - NOT at the Shelter - unless otherwise noted.  Here is the adoption process:   To adopt an animal you must complete an application and be approved. There is a $60 fee for any animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a $35 deposit which will be returned upon proof of surgery. All dogs must be licensed before leaving the Shelter. Please note that public offices that issue dog licenses are not open on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats must leave in a carrier.   Thank you for considering a homeless animal.March 1, 2025, 8:01 am
