Story
Hi my name is Curly and I have a great story to tell. I am a good boy that’s shy and unsure at first. People, car rides, and loud noises scare me. So I need a home that is quiet and 1-2 people at most would be best. I do great with other dogs, they bring me out of my shell. I know I’m not for everyone but I am the right one for the special person, who can work with me and go at my slow pace, who won’t get frustrated that the world is sometimes scary to me and I need time and help figuring it out. I really want to be loved and give you love, it will just take time, trust, and understanding. I am kennel trained, house trained, and like the backyard. Leash walks are not my favorite but I am working on that. Since I am scared, I like to be able to go in and out of my kennel when I am scared or just feel like it. If you want a special dog that’s not like everyone else, but will always hold a special place in your heart…. I am your boy! I have been around dogs and cats with no issues. I've also been around kids, but I prefer to keep to myself when little ones are around. I'm also crate and housetrained, neutered, heartworm negative, and have age-appropriate vaccinations!  If you're interested in adopting, please email your phone number to rockcityrescue@gmail.comAugust 20, 2024, 12:05 am

Story
Hi, my name is Moe! If you are looking for a special dog, you are barking up the right tree! What makes me special is that life started out a little shaky for me and has left me more nervous and scared than the average dog. With time, understanding, patience, and building trust I will open up and be the best companion you could want! As the saying goes, I stick to the 3’s. I need 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks of a consistent routine and time to learn it & 3 months to start feeling at home. At first, I am more comfortable with other dogs and people really scare me, so I would do best with an outgoing friendly dog in the house to show me how to feel comfortable and confident. As time goes on, I get more used to humans but would do best in a single-person home or just a couple (too many people or a lot of children will be too much for me). I like my kennel and my safe dark space. I will come around and hang out more when I trust it is safe. I am kennel trained and working on being better with the leash. If you are looking for an amazing but special dog who needs a little bit of a calmer lifestyle, I am your man!!!! Email your phone number to rockcityrescue@gmail.com for more info! Story
Delta is a beautiful 3-year-old lab mix with a heart full of love despite her tough beginnings. Rescued from a heartbreaking situation where she spent her early life chained, Delta carries a small scar on her leg as a reminder of her past, but she doesn’t let that define her.Though shy when meeting new people, we will need someone who understands shy dogs and will be patient with her until she feels comfortable. Delta’s gentle nature shines through once she feels safe. She's learning to enjoy the world around her, especially the joy of walks on a leash and basic manners. Delta gets along well with other dogs and has shown little interest in cats, making her a versatile companion.Delta has also tested positive for heartworms, but she’s currently undergoing treatment and on her way to recovery. This special girl is ready for a loving home where she can continue to heal and thrive. Could that be with you?Give Delta the second chance she deserves—she’ll repay you with a lifetime of loyalty and love.To make the best possible match for you and the pet, please follow the link below to complete the Adoption Application. Story
Oria is a beautiful fluffy girl who is three years old and weighs in around 55 pounds. She is a mix of Golden Retriever and Great Pyrenees and that may make you think, "BIG DOG!", but honestly, she's not really all that big, she's more "fluff". :) Oria is not only a beauty, but she is also a sweetheart AND has absolutely everything you are looking for in a dog! Honestly, she has it all ... she's social, does well with men, women and children, other dogs and even cats! She walks well on leash, rides well in a car, and is crate and house trained. What more could you possibly ask for!? Oria has been vetted (got all of her shots, kennel cough vaccination, flea, tick and heartworm preventative and was spayed) and was found to be heartworm negative. She just has everything going for her ... EXCEPT she's homeless. If you would like to set up a meeting with this sweet, sweet girl, please start with the Adoption Application! The link is just below. Story
Maverick entered the OOTW program a couple of months back after being found wandering as a stray. It was immediately noticed that Maverick had a severe infection in both his eyes and his rescuers took him to a dogtor where he was diagnosed with entropion, a condition where the eyelashes grow backwards and poke the eyes, causing extreme irritation, infection and discomfort. Fortunately, this condition is completely fixable but Maverick's rescuers needed to find a rescue group who could afford to have this surgery done! Ta-Da ... Out of the Woods to the rescue and Maverick was welcomed into the program. Maverick had surgery on his eyes on March 19 to correct this issue and while he was snoozing, the vet neutered him, checked him for heartworms, injected his rabies shot and his microchip! He has recovered nicely and he's all ready to go!Maverick is a mixed breed who is believed to be Chesapeake Bay Retriever and Rhodesian Ridgeback, however, he's not going to be as large as either of those breeds so there is probably some other breeds in there as well! We believe he will reach a top-out weight of around 55 pounds. Maverick has a nice sturdy physique and a short coat of chocolately brown fur. On his chest he has a big beautiful butterfly marking in white! This pup's foster mom is doing an incredible job training Maverick and he already knows several commands, plus he is leash trained, doggie door trained, crate trained, rides well in a car, and enjoys other dogs and even cats! Maverick enjoys play time outdoors with foster siblings and you can also find him lounging in the sunshine on nice days! We believe he would do well with children of any age and he would also do well at a dog park because he seems to enjoy meeting new doggies. We've seen zero aggression when meeting other dogs.If you are thinking about adding a new pup to your home, take a look at this handsome boy and start with the Adoption Application.
