Story
Hi, I`m Luther! My sister, Lisel, and I became homeless on a rainy Saturday morning, September 14, 2024. We were discovered munching on a torn bag of dog food when the animal shelter arrived to help us. Kerry, the shelter director, opened her vehicle`s hatch, and without hesitation, we both jumped in to escape the rain. Even when we reached the shelter and the hatch was opened again, we stayed put, feeling safe for the first time in a while.I have a light brindle coat that`s quite striking, if I do say so myself. Lisel, on the other hand, has a darker brindle pattern and doesn`t photograph as well—but don’t let that fool you; she`s the better playmate when it comes to other dogs. Cats? Well, let`s just say we`ve had our share of run-ins, and we`re not exactly fans. We`re both heartworm negative, sterilized, up-to-date on vaccines, and ready for new homes—whether together or separately. We love toys, running, and playing. I walk well on a leash, though I`m a bit head-shy, unlike Lisel, who’s a total trooper. If you’re looking for a loyal companion or two, come visit us at the West Memphis Animal Shelter. We can’t wait to meet you!

Story
January 2021- Della and Darby are still looking for homes to call their own. This year they will have been in our rescue for 8 years!!! Della and Darby were rescued at 6 weeks old with the rest of their siblings. The rest of their siblings got adopted but for some reason these two never found their forever homes. We have tried everything we can think of to find these two awesome dogs a home to call their own. They have the deck stacked against them, they are black dogs who are older, they have to go to a home together and there cannot be any other animals in the home. They do take a little while to warm up to new people but once they they are your best friend. They are both spayed/neutered, up to date on shots, housebroken, crate trained, love to go for walks, and play in their pool when it gets hot. We know finding them a home might be a long shot but we aren't giving up on these 2. If you are interested in giving these two a home to call their own please contact us, you won't be sorry.

Story
Zoey is a female one year old lab mix who weighs 50 lbs. She was adopted last year as a pup from a local family. She was Janie at that time. She had been fostered with other dogs with no issue. Her new home had older small dogs in it and I dont think they welcomed the new, energetic larger sized pup. She now cannot get along with those dogs, she is too big for them. She desperately needs an outlet for play! Janie loves her Kong toy! She is crate trained and house trained. She is heartworm negative. We need a foster or adopter for Zoey. Story
Kimi is a stunning 10 month old lab mix! She was found living under a house with her two siblings, Robert and Khloe, who have both since been adopted. She is the last one in her litter left to find a forever home and hopes that her time for adoption is coming soon! Kimi is kid-friendly, loves other dogs, and is cat tolerant. Her foster mom reports that she doesn’t love the cats but she doesn’t chase them or react to them at all. They simply are able to coexist in the same space together and live in She is very playful with her canine foster siblings and would enjoy the company of another dog in her forever home if possible. She loves to be with her pack! As the youngest pup in her foster home, she's the queen of the house. Kimi is more of a homebody, as she would rather be on the couch or at home binging Netflix on a rainy day. Due to her history prior to coming to Happy Tails Canine Rescue, Kimi is not the biggest fan of walks because she is still a little nervous of strangers, but she is learning to trust more every day. Being patient and loving to her is important and a big way to win her trust. She likes to sleep under the big bed in her foster parent's room. She cleared out a spot under there with her canine foster sister and goes to bed when her parents go to sleep. What a good girl! Kimi is 40lbs and a very gentle lady. She takes her treats with manners, She likes to be outside and is very relaxed in the yard, enjoying the time sunbathing and feeling the wind on her face. If you want a well- mannered, lower drive, cuddle bug, then Kimi is your girl!
