Story
I purchased Murphy around February I believe some years ago from a friend who I was farming for at the time. He was the last of a litter of purebreds. My wife and I wanted a pup around because we had just gotten married and bought a new house. We had a few years of good times and playful memories, he was a good dog. Now that we have kids, including a little one we are trying to sleep train, it’s just not working. As I’m writing this, he is barking. I even bought a female a while back so he’d have a friend. Only made things worse. I get not being fixed is contributing but it’s a lot. The noise is too much and I hate that I don’t have the time to devote to them as well. I do love him and want him happy and to run free. We are also planning to move soon. So I think it has to be done sooner rather than later. I’m desperate to rehome these pups for multiple reasons. And I want to do this right way to ensure that they live happy comfortable lives from here on out. Otherwise, he’s awesome

Story
Meadow is a tricky case. She has lived her life exclusively outdoors, unlike her counterpart Murphy, who lived the early years of his life indoors. I’ve never been able to get her to come inside. So she isn’t house trained. She does well with Murphy but is territorial with other dogs. She does well with my daughter but hasn’t had much experience with other kids. She growls at cats. She’s the sweetest thing ever and timid and likes belly rubs but at the same time she can be fierce and aggressive which could be seen as dangerous in the wrong situation. She’s beautiful and happy though. They’re both purebred and fully attached but have never conceived for some reason. They just need a better home. More room to run and live. I can’t provide that for them any longer. I will truly miss Meadow. She is 3 I believe. Not a puppy. Was the only photo I had on here.

Story
*looking for a low key household* Dog Name: Pau Pau Breed: Lab Mix Sex: Male Age: 8ish Weight: 60 Medical needs: Pau Pau is a distemper survivor. The disease can cause some long-term effect like scarring of the lungs. Due to this, his breathing sounds a little rough but he doesn't require medication. Will be be running any marathons? No! But he is content with short walks. Pau also used to weigh 114 pounds and his previous foster worked hard to get him to a healthier weight, so it's important that his adopter doesn't overfeed him. The thing about Pau is that he has a bottomless stomach and a nose for culinary delights, so you will have to put your foot down and offer him healthy snacks. Housebroken: Yes Crate trained: Yes. However, Pau can be crate/barrier reactive with new people, especially men. Good in the car: Yes Good on a leash: Ok, some light pulling Energy level: Medium Need a fenced in yard: No Dog Friendly: Yes, currently fostered with 3 other dogs and gets along great with all of them If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No Cat Friendly? Unknown (can be tested) Kid Friendly: yes, he was previously fostered with young kids and is currently fostered with two teenagers. If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Due to potential reactivity (and since Ive never personally observed him around younger kids) I would recommend teens Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Pau knows sit, down and is currently working on the place command. He’s the perfect example that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks and eager to learn if it involves treats. Speaking of treats…. Pau Pau came to us from Texas where he was found as a stray weighing a whooping 114 pounds After a 1.5 year diet he is now down to 60ish pounds. That being said, he acts like a 4-legged vacuum cleaner and will try to snatch food if you're not careful. We’re looking for an experienced owner since Pau can be reactive when meeting new people. Meets are best done outside with some tasty treats. Once he warmed up to you, his tail never stops wagging. Literally NEVER. Fosters Location: Delmar, MD Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application Adoption Application | GRASS ROOTS RESCUE www.grrde.org (if you already have an approved application on file email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app ##1959787##

Story
ABOUT GOLDIE As her name would suggest, this lady has a heart of gold! Our sweet Goldie girl is a 2 year old yellow lab mix with a typical goofball lab personality! Goldie came to HAP from a high-intake shelter partner when they no longer had space for her. Despite being in the shelter, nothing could take the smile off her face! Goldie is a complete and total mush with people, frequently tossing her back end into you for booty scratches. While she may love people, there's one thing she loves even more...toys! Whether she's playing with you or tossing a bone for herself, this girl loves toys! She has the most dramatic play bows and the fanciest of prances we've seen. When she's feeling extra excited, she will talk back to you and serve up some (hilarious) sass! **Goldie can get overstimulated by children and would do best in a home with adults only. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
