Story
Meet Bear, a 7-year-old Lab mix with an 85-pound frame and an even bigger heart. Bear is fully house-trained and crate-trained, often heading to his crate on his own when he wants to rest. However, he’s such a good boy that he can be trusted to roam freely around the house. Whether it’s snuggling in bed with you or finding his own cozy spot, Bear loves being close to his humans. Don’t let his age fool you—Bear has plenty of energy! He enjoys two walks a day, each around half a mile to a mile long. With his stamina and playful nature, he thrives on exercise and would be thrilled to have a fenced yard where he can stretch his legs and play. Bear doesn’t know a stranger. He gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and people of all ages. His enthusiasm for making new friends is so strong that he might just pull you over to say hello. Whether it’s a furry friend or a new human, Bear is always eager to make a connection.  This is another reason that fence will come in handy. Bear is strong and would likely break a tie-out if he really wanted to go say hello and make new friends. This smart pup knows all the basic commands like sit, stay, down, and heel. He walks nicely on a leash, staying to his person’s right side, and even sits patiently at crosswalks—though he might need a reminder if another dog catches his eye. At home, Bear is pretty chill. He enjoys lounging around, following his person from room to room, and chewing on hard bones (soft toys don’t stand a chance!). His friendly, outgoing, and happy nature makes him a joy to have around. His ideal family will appreciate his energetic spirit, enjoy his playful antics, and love his affectionate nature. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and fun companion, Bear is your guy. Adopt Bear and discover just how wonderful life can be with a furry best friend by your side!   His minimum adoption fee is $195 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents.    He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
We're thrilled to announce our awesome "Go Big and Go Home" adoption special! We have a bunch of incredible dogs who weigh over 50 pounds that are eagerly waiting to find their forever homes. And guess what? Starting now until the end of February, you can take one of these amazing companions home for just $99! How amazing is that? Don't let this fantastic opportunity pass you by to bring home a furry friend with a big heart. My name is Mama Bea, and I was discovered in a rural area near an animal control facility. At the time, I was pregnant with a litter of 12 puppies, much to the surprise of the animal control staff who found me when they returned one morning. As luck would have it, this occurred during the week leading up to Thanksgiving, and the local rescues were unable to accommodate me. However, a kind-hearted individual graciously picked me the Friday after Thanksgiving and drove me 4 hours to my current foster home. I genuinely enjoy it here as I have formed friendships with the children and dogs in the household. While I attempted to engage with the cats, they have not reciprocated, so I have respectfully ceased my attempts. While my foster home is wonderful, deep down, I yearn to find a permanent and loving home that I can truly call my own. Adoption fee is $275 and is available on 1/13. All Pet Central animals are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped (registration included), and current on parasite prevention. Story
Hello, my brother passed away a few months ago and left behind his 9 year old fur baby. I came out here to help my mom during her grieving process but now have to go back to California. My grandparents will not accept her and I can’t leave her with my mom. She hasn’t been okay since his passing and does not want to deal with taking care of her. I would love for her to find a good home and be loved as she deserves. She’s a fairly great dog and loves to express her sweetness daily. She is house trained but not the greatest with strangers coming up to the front door. She’s a lazy girl and very good and well behaved with car rides and showers. I don’t believe my brother ever got her spayed or got her needed shots so I apologize in advance for this.
