We found Rex abandoned in Oklahoma in July 2023, he was nice and friendly so we tried to give him a new life up north. Its been pretty smooth sailing other than a few times a month it seems when he gets aggressive towards our other male dog (who is fixed). Along with the aggression he'll attempt to mark areas where our other dog likes to spend a lot of his time. Rex hasn't shown any aggression towards our kids, and he does like to play with them (chase them around while they scream and screech at high volumes). he does listen to commands sit, down, kennel, and up very well.

INK is living the retirement life! He loves naps and roaming his backyard. Even though he his def he will bark if he sees someone or something approaching the backyard or front door. INK is protective of his yard and home. If we have visitors we let INK outside let the visitor in and then we let INK in to join us. He loves being pet-brushed. He is not the biggest fan of baths but adding some peanut butter for him to eat helps. He loves treats he will sit for his treat. We recommend a little tap or knee nudge if you are behind him so he is not surprised by you. He does have some hearing.

Rowena is a 9-10 year old lab mix (we did a DNA test and it came back lab/chow/golden retriever/pointer and several others) - about 60 lbs. She is house/kennel trained, and definitely wants to learn how to dog! She was found in 2019 living in a wood pile in Oklahoma protecting her puppies, so has some trauma there that needs worked through and a dedicated adopter will do so much for her. She needs a very structured living environment and a strong dog-savvy owner. She loves to be outside so would enjoy a nice physically fenced yard (no invisible fencing with her history, sorry). Privacy fencing will be preferred as she guards her territory. She will not do well in an apartment setting since she has a fear of strangers and needs muzzled on walks in strange places. She has been through heartworm treatment and will require an adopter who will keep her on preventatives and regular testing. She does well with dogs as long as they aren't tiny/can't be mistaken for squirrels or rabbits. She chases cats. She is food protective with other dogs, so will need to be fed separate / in kennel as a precaution. Once she is comfortable with you, she likes to snuggle and give kisses and hugs -- but it may take a few weeks for her to warm up fully. No kids for Roe -- fast movements and small creatures with her don't mix. Her adoption fee is $250. Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato.
