Story
Welcome Zara to CCPAL Rescue. She is a 1-year old Lab mix dog. She is about 40 pounds and looks like a good weight. She is decent on the leash and good with other dogs. She does do her business outside on a schedule here at the rescue. She is a little shy and when scared has the reflex to run. She would do best with a person or family that is more of a family that likes time at home and isn’t the type that has lots of social gatherings and wants their dog to go many places like Starbucks etc. She would be perfectly content being a companion for a more stay home family. She would be fine with children or a cat. She was with Sam here at the rescue which is the Rescue cat. She is fully vaccinated, spayed and healthy and ready for her forever home. She is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. She is currently in Texas at the CCPAL Rescue. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Story
STAR was found as a stray in rural Oklahoma by a police officer in an abandoned home. The humane society was contacted about her and they asked A Lab for Life to help her out, and of course we did! STAR has been with her foster for a couple of months now. She's estimated to be about 4-6 years old. Storms don't bother her, as long as she can be near her person, but fireworks are a different story and she does not like them at all. STAR does have a strong prey drive, and has brought her foster multiple "presents, so cats are not recommended with her. STAR is potty trained, and good to free roam the home, as long as there's nothing left on the counter for her to investigate! STAR rides in a car well, and her foster says she's pretty sure she is the sweetest-natured dog she has have ever met. STAR loves attention, but isn't your typical cuddler, just likes to be near you. She does have some skin allergies that are being treated, but that isn't surprising after being left alone to fend for herself.

Story
Sweet IAN is a stunning 95 pound 3 year old guy. IAN loves his people with all his heart. While IAN enjoys playing with others, he occasionally doesn't want to share his family's affection with others living in the same household. Because of this, we think IAN would do best as the only dog in the home. IAN is crate-trained. He loves to ride along and snuggling is a must! IAN is fantastic on a leash!

Story
Hi! I'm BART. My foster mom says that means Brave and Resilient Trooper. She thinks my life before foster was super scary since I army crawled out of the shelter when she came to get me. But being BART, I am making a comeback! I am working on learning to trust people and new experiences. Thankfully my foster family has shown me all the love, patience, and "atta boys". My foster mom says I am the best boy and she is really hoping I go to a family who loves me as much as they do. I am potty-trained and house-trained. I am not crate-trained but I don't need it. In fact, from the very first night, I have never gotten into anything I shouldn't have. I really don't roam much as I prefer my safe place to anything else. I'm a low-key kind of guy. No jumping from me. I greet you by beating my thick tail against the floor, the wall, or whatever is nearby. But I'm not likely to get up...you'll just have to follow the sound of my tail! I am a patient boy during bath time and my foster mom says I am amazing on a leash! I get along with my 2 canine sisters, who are age 7 and 11. Some things I love are belly rubs, chewing on my bone, long, lazy naps in a comfy bed, chewing on my bone, staying inside and did I mention chewing on my bone!? I like an occasional, leisurely walk, emphasis on occasional and leisurely with a capital L. There are some things I don't like at all: Thunderstorms are one but my mom gives me Composure Pro from the vet to calm my anxiety and lays next to me during the worst of the Oklahoma storms. I also don't like other male dogs. Nope, not one bit! No, thank you! Loud noises and sudden movements startle me. And a raised hand with your palm facing down will cause me to flinch. I've lived with my foster family since December 30th, 2022. My foster mom is so proud of how far I've come and what I've overcome! I am looking for a quieter home where my people are home most of the time. I would be okay being the only dog or in a home with a calm, submissive large breed female dog. I just want to be loved! If you have room in your heart, I have room in mine!

Story
Michelle is a beautiful chocolate lab who came to A Lab for Life from a breeder. Michelle is like many other dogs we have received from breeders - she has spent most of her life outdoors, so the concept of potty training is very new for her. Michelle's foster dad is trying really hard to work with Michelle and her sister every day to build her confidence by providing love, care and training.
