Story
Meet River, a 6-year-old lab mix ready for her next adventure! River’s perfect day involves long, leisurely walks (she’s a pro on the leash—she could probably teach a class on it!), followed by an epic game of fetch. While she walks great on leash, she does sometimes get a little over excited when she sees other dogs and can be a bit loud about it, so she would do best in an environment with lower dog traffic to help her be the best she can be. That being said, she does enjoy dog friends and could potentially go home with a well matched doggo!River is a sweetheart with her adult friends, but is pretty uncomfortable with the young ones, so an adult-only home would be her dream come true! If you`re looking for a fun, (housebroken!), fetch-loving lab then River may be the fit for your home!If you think this dog could be a good match for you and would like to learn more, stop by our Cape Cod Adoption Center to speak with our staff about her. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 1pm-4pm – no appointment or application needed. Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they are interested in and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.

Story
Lola is a sweet and social lady looking for a home of her own! She enjoys going for walks and snuggling on a cozy blanket. Lola loves meeting new people and getting pets and snuggles, but she is still working on her manners when she greets new people. She seems to be a quick learner and is excited for a family who can continue teaching her manners using positive reinforcement! Lola has lived with another dog and could likely do so again with a slow introduction. She could also likely do well with older kids who can participate in her training! If you think this dog could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available dogs. Preparing your home for your new dog or puppy ahead of time can help ease the transition for your new pet and set you both up for success should there be a dog that’s a good match! To learn more about how to make the first few weeks with your new dog or puppy the most successful it can be, please visit www.mspca.org/petresources. Meet Scotty! - I will be in the Boston shelter for meet + greets Friday 1/24 & Saturday 1/25, come say hello!Scotty and his brother Derek were found roaming outside with their mom in Mississippi. These brothers likely had very little interaction with people before being brought to the shelter. Because of this they are very shy but are learning to trust humans. Collars, leashes, and living indoors are all new to them. They are each looking for a home (separatley) with a patient owner and friendly resident dog. They both LOVE dogs! In their new home they will look to the resident dog to teach them how to be social and live indoors. An ideal home for Derek or Scotty would have a social dog to help them come out of their shell. Scotty is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team. For more information on Scotty or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements. Story
Meet Coal: A Miracle Puppy Coal is a 10-month-old Lab mix who has overcome incredible odds and is ready to find his forever home. This sweet boy’s journey began in Texas, where he was found on the side of the road, unable to use his hind legs. Initially thought to be injured by a car, further medical investigation revealed that Coal’s paralysis was caused by a bullet lodged in his spine. After a successful surgery in December to remove the bullet, Coal has spent the past six weeks recovering and adjusting. While it’s unlikely he’ll regain sensation in his hind legs, the surgery has prevented further complications, and he’s learning to thrive with the help of a wheelchair provided by a nonprofit on a “lifetime loan” that will transfer to his adopter. Coal’s boundless puppy enthusiasm and love for life shine through despite his challenges. He’s an energetic, snuggly boy who adores people and other dogs. He’ll need the same training, exercise (modified for his needs), and mental stimulation as any puppy his age. He’s curious about cats—his limited mobility means he can’t give chase, so he might do well with a dog-savvy cat, but not one that’s too timid. Coal is already crate-trained, up-to-date on his vaccinations, and neutered. However, his special needs require a dedicated adopter who can provide physical and financial care, including expressing his bladder and bowel (a lifelong requirement) and monitoring for potential bladder infections. His ideal home is single-level with minimal stairs and plenty of outdoor space for him to explore and play. Apartment living won’t suit this boy’s needs. Coal’s journey from Texas to Massachusetts is nothing short of miraculous, and he’s ready to bring love and joy into the life of his adopter. If you’re looking for a resilient, affectionate, and playful companion, Coal may just be your perfect match. Are you the one to give Coal his happily ever after? If you are interested in finding out more about Coal, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Coal is being fostered in the Worcester area. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.)   To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   PLEASE READ:     •    If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this.     •    All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date.     •    Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments.   Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well.   Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation.   For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application. ##2285348##
