Story
Meet Wyatt, the wise 7.5-year-old Lab/Bully mix, who holds the title of one of the longest shelter residents. Despite his extended stay, Wyatt remains easy-going, smart, and walks gently on a leash. With a repertoire of commands like sit and shake, he's ready to impress his future family with his intelligence. Tested great with cats, Wyatt proves himself to be a well-rounded companion, although he can be selective with other dogs. We recommend setting up a meet and greet with your dog before adoption to make sure it's a perfect match.Adoption Fee: $100, includes spay/neuter, and all veterinary care as needed. If interested in meeting, please stop in during open hours, Tuesday-Saturday 12-5:00 pm. We recommend leaving your dog home for the first meet.Photo Credit: Tiffany Hamilton Photography

Story
Sweet Pea is a stunning 4 year old girl who arrived as a stray and sadly was not reclaimed. She has a stunning red coat that shines in the sun and she's believed to be a Labrador mix. Sweet Pea has shown us she's a loving and attentive dog who loves toys and loves play time! We don't know her history with other dogs so meeting others before adoption is best.Adoption Fee: $200, includes spay/neuter and all veterinary care as needed. If interested in meeting, please stop in during open hours, Tuesday-Saturday 12-5:00 pm. Story
Hi! Are you looking for a new friend who will be happy just hanging out with you? Well, here I am! My name is Gunner! Look deep into my soulful eyes and you're sure to fall in love! I love absolutely everyone. Well, except other dogs when I'm out on a walk. Instead of taking me to dog parks or doggy daycare, where I'll likely be too reactive, I would really love to go on hikes, take walks, and have some backyard playtime instead. If you have room in your heart and home for me, I'm waiting to meet you!If you would like to meet me, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. I am neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care I have received.**Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

Story
Hi!  Thank you for clicking on my photo to read about me. My birthday is October 31, 2023.  Isn't it cool that I was born on Halloween?  I'm sure glad I wasn't given a spooky name...I like being Pete.  The vet says I'm a lab/pit mix and that when I'm all grown up, I should weigh 40-50 pounds.  I have fur like a lab and even have cute, webbed toes.  When I was just a tiny puppy, I was attacked by a big dog and hurt very badly.  I had a tear in my trachea and my cheek bone was broken.  I spent time at the ER vet before being transferred to a specialist to have surgery.  My foster mommy took really good care of me and kept me calm while I healed.  Do you know how hard it is for a puppy to stay calm???  I had to stay in a crate and wasn't allowed to play with the other dogs.  It was torture!  Those days are over now, and I can play with my big brothers all day long.  Well, we play really hard and then nap for a few hours.  There are more photos of me sleeping than of me getting into puppy trouble. My big brothers are 100lb labs. They've helped me forget all about that big dog that wasn't nice to me. When I was little, I liked to use them for pillows, but I can't get away with that anymore.  There is a 4 year old who comes over every day and I love her!  We play and then we cuddle. I don't have much experience with stuffed toys because one of the big dogs just destroys them.  We have lots of chew bones, and I like to pick up sticks in the yard.  I'm a good boy outside and don't get into nearly as much trouble as I did when I was little. When I have to go potty, I ring some bells hanging from the door.  I sleep in bed with my foster mommy and I sleep through the night most nights.  If I do have to go out, I go out, take care of business, then come right back in to bed.  Mommy is retired and home most of the time, but sometimes I have to go in a crate when she isn't home.  I don't like it very much at all and like to voice my opinion about it.  I'm getting better about it, but it's something we're still working on. I probably shouldn't live in an apartment, though. I would love a fenced yard so I can run around and burn off energy.  Another dog to play with would be a definite bonus.  I'm not sure a home with tiny kids is best because of all my energy and strength as I grow, but my foster mommy wants what is best for me and she will make sure any new home is the perfect fit for everyone.  Please contact her right away if you'd like to talk about me.  **All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neuter. All animals will be spayed or neutered, tested for FIV/FeLV or heartworm, given age-appropriate boosters and rabies, dewormed, flea treated, and anything extra that is needed to give this animal a wonderful forever life in a permanent home. Adoption fees are usually $50 for cats and between $150-$250 for dogs, unless the pet is sponsored or we are running a promotion. Please visit our website at sheltertohome.com for information on our adoption process.**August 18, 2024, 11:58 pm

Story
Thor is a guy with a big heart and an even bigger personality. He loves people and craves attention from anyone who is willing to give it to him. He has a confident demeanor and likes to be in charge, often acting as a leader among the other dogs at the rescue. However, this strong-willed attitude may be due in part to his need to lose some weight. As a bull dozer of a dog, Thor's energy and strength can sometimes be too much for his own good. With proper care and exercise, he can shed those extra pounds and become a healthier, happier pup. Despite his flaws, Thor is a lovable and loyal companion who just needs a little extra help to reach is full potential.FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TNAdoption fee Includes Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (DA2PPV, Bordetella, Rabies), Deworming, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Flea/Tick/Heartworm Prevention, and Sheltering.
