Story
Ladies and Gentlemen - Domino "Never have to worry about what is worst or what is best" Oh oh Domino Domino was found as a stray and never claimed. He was born in March of 2022 - we think :) He is an 80 lb Lab mixed with an energetic goofball. He should be fine with older kids and adults. He isn't overly fond of the other dogs here, so he might do better as a single dog until he gets used to being in a home setting again. Domino also should be in a cat free home. Domino has a big personality and loves attention, he keeps a clean kennel here, so the transition to home should be easier. Domino really wants a home and a family. Will you come and make his dreams come true? All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition. Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes. They are still available for adoption, and meet and greets are done with pre-approved applicants only. If you have any questions feel free to send us an email at freeborncohumanesociety@gmail.com, send us a message on Facebook, or call or text 507-377-8501.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sonya came to the shelter from the city pound on 4/4/2024 when her hold was finished and no one had claimed her. She's about 2 years old and looks to be a black lab/pit bull type mix. There could be some other breeds in there, too. She's very loving and full of enthusiasm. She has been vet checked and spayed and her fee is $125. Sonya will need plenty of basic training. She is a very energetic young dog who will require regular exercise. We do think she would do best as the only pet in the home, at least until she gets some good training and socialization under her belt. She will need some time to decompress from the shelter environment as it has been causing her a lot of stress. An adult only home would be best (teens are fine). NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Please keep an eye on your emails if you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 29, 2025, 6:21 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hetty is a delightful mixed breed gal who arrived on January 30th from our city pound when no one had claimed her. She had a surprise on board and gave birth to 6 puppies on February 11th. She has now completed her mom duties and is getting ready for the next phase of her life - a forever home! She has been vet checked, vaccinated and microchipped and will be spayed on April 22nd. Her fee is $150. Hetty is a very exuberant and bouncy young dog who is about a year and a half old. She will require some good exercise and basic training. She's very eager to please! We do think she would prefer to be the only pet in the home right now as she becomes accustomed to life outside of the shelter. Kids over 5 would be best for this gal. She is a loving sweetheart of a girl! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Story
Ares was rescued from a kill shelter in CA by a private party. They then rejected Ares off of transport. Following is the write up by the volunteers who know him the best. 🎖Ares leashes up fine and walks OK on the leash but definitely some room for improvement there. Upon returning to his kennel he walked right in and just stood there for me to take his leash off.❣️ He has a perfect sit and loves posing for pics. His dog tests went well he seemed relaxed around them and OK with sharing space. Likely best match with other calm dogs.🐌Please allow slow intros to resident dogs for success. That means weeks to months not hours to days.📆

Name: Asa Age: Puppy / DOB: 5/25/24 Gender: male Breed: Shepherd/Labrador/Terrier mix Weight: 60 lbs Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: Testing Available upon request Child friendly: yes House trained: yes Crate trained: yes Energy level: Moderate Temperament: sweet, snuggly, docile, easygoing Requirement: Not apartment appropriate, but could be in a condo or duplex Adoption Fee: $450+tax To adopt, go to:   www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html About Me:  Heeeeello Internet! My name is Asa and I love to snuggle with my loved ones which includes both the furry or human types. I know I am a big boy but I love a cozy lap to snuggle on. I am learning new things in a nice cozy foster home. This is the first home I’ve ever lived in, if you can believe it. I was part of an “oopsie” litter; my siblings and I went right to the shelter when we were big enough. Due to this, I am working on building my confidence because I didn’t get to experience many of the things most pups do. I promise I’m a nice boy but new people and situations make me feel tender inside. I’m looking for a forever home that can give me grace, be patient with me and help me continue to gain confidence. Oh and did I mention how handsome I am?!  Not to toot my own horn but my coat coloring is truly one of a kind.  If you’d like to meet me in person, please fill out an application soon!   From the foster family: Asa has been an absolute joy to have in our home. I can always count on him to tire out our resident dogs (he LOVES to play with his canine companions) and warm my lap when he’s done.  Asa did take some time to come around and be comfortable here, and I’m sure he will when he goes to his forever home as well, but he’s worth the patience.  He is such a sweet pup… he has the kindest eyes and will melt your heart when he looks at you with admiration.  His future forever family will be so lucky!   March 17, 2025, 11:55 am

Name: Vanitee Age: Puppy / DOB: 11/23/24 Gender: female Breed: Labrador/Terrier mix Weight: 20 lbs Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: yes Child friendly: yes House trained: yes, on a puppy potty schedule(frequent bathroom breaks) Crate trained: yes Energy level: Moderate Temperament: sweet, snuggly, docile, easygoing Requirement: Not apartment appropriate, but could be in a condo or duplex Adoption Fee: $550+tax To adopt, go to:   www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html About Me:  Hi!! I’m Vannie (aka Vanitee) At least that’s what my foster mom calls me. I’m still figuring that part out.  I’m a go-getter! Holy moly, have you seen the different toys there are?! My favorite ones are the wrapper scrunchies and squeakier ones… Okay, never mind; I don’t have a favorite. Anything I can carry around and squeak and wrestle is awesome!!  My foster mom   keeps telling me I’m the best girl and so pretty. I already know that  I think my best features are my ears and velvet skin.  I LOVE to play with my golden foster brother. He   and I wrestle and he helps me go outside to potty. Oh yeah, did I tell you I’m potty trained already?! Well, almost. My foster mom makes these bells in the door that make noise and I know it’s OUTSIDE time. She then says potty and I know what she means, but I have to sniff the air and watch my foster brother first, and then I potty and get a treat.  I’m also really good in my kennel. I’m quiet and walk right into my kennel when it’s time to eat, and while mom is working in her office.   I get super wiggly when mom takes her lunch break and I know I get time to play!  I sleep best when I sprawl out and belly up. It’s the best and so cozy next to my foster mom or dad.    I’m trying to learn how to come and sit. I promise I’ll get it. My parents are working hard on it and I’ll keep trying as long as they keep the treats coming.    Well, I don’t know what else to say other than I’m ready to see what other fun stuff this place can give me. Because you know I’m just a puppy, but life is amazing and I want to experience it with you!! Let’s go!!  Of Note, Vanitee's spay appointment is March 18th    February 27, 2025, 10:16 pm
