Story
Hello, my name is Emerald, and I am a gorgeous girl! I'm currently up to date on my vaccines and have been spayed. To meet one of our adoptable pets or to start the adoption process, please access the adoption application on our website, www.crossroadsanimalrescue.org or download and email it to crossroadsanimalrescuesc@gmail.com. We will then approve you (sending in the application does not obligate you to adopt) and we can set up a time for you to meet one or more of our pets. You can then pay the adoption fee and officially adopt after meeting your new family member. Alternatively, you can do the adoption over the phone before meeting your new pet. The benefit to this is that we will hold the pet for you. However, the adoption fee is non-refundable if you changed your mind after adopting over the phone. Most of our pets are obtained from animal control and therefore we are not certain of their breed or breed mix. We list breed mixes that they most resemble or that their former owners said they were. However, we don't make any guarantees about breed - it is a best guess! Our adoption fees include the spay/neuter surgery, deworming, vet exam, and up to date vaccines. It also includes microchipping as well as heartworm testing or feline leukemia testing. We are happy to adopt out-of-state (and even out of the country!) but transportation for the adopted pet is the responsibility of the new pet owner. If you cannot adopt a pet at this time but would like to support our rescue, please click on the "Sponsor a Pet" button. Your donation will help feed the dogs, cats, small animals, and horses at CARE. Please email at crossroadsanimalrescuesc@gmail.com or call us at (864)972-9906 for more information. This phone number will reach Crossroads Animal Hospital, which is the home of CARE. During business hours, a receptionist will be able to speak with you regarding our adoptable pets. After business hours, the only way to contact CARE is via email. Our puppies and kittens are also eligible for 10% off the rest of the vaccines in their puppy/kitten vaccination series at Crossroads Animal Hospital. Most adult pets are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Puppies and kittens may have the surgery before adoption or we may have new owners return later for the surgery. For more information about CARE and to see our adoption application, go to our website, www.crossroadsanimalres

Story
Nellie is a super sweet dog who has had lots of obedience training and knows lots of commands! She knows sit, down, shake, place ("break" to leave her place), heel, and drop it. She is housetrained. She loves to run, swim, hike, and play but also loves her snuggles. She is an awesome dog who happens to have some anxiety around other dogs that can show up as aggression, so she needs to be an only pet in the household (she's been fine with us walking her near other dogs on a leash - we just don't let her actually approach them as a precaution). She's never shown any human aggression but since she is nervous around new people/situations, we recommend no young kids/toddlers in her new home. She does take a daily anxiety medication that we just started for her to help her adjust to being in boarding and to a new home. She may be able to transition off this medication once she is used to her new home. It is not expensive, so don't let the meds be a reason to not consider this adorable and very smart girl as part of your family!

Story
Odin is a 9 year old Labradinger. He is the epitome of his definition when you look up his breed. At his age, he isn't very playfull with other animals, but has no problem playing with his human. That doesn't mean he's not good with other dogs, he just doesn't typically have their energy. We currently have a cat and he does not bother her, but does keep his distance and prefers it that way. He has never attacked her. Just warns her when she gets too close to stay away. He doesn't want to be bothered. He is well kept and fed with good food. At this time, I am fostering him in order to keep him from being euthenized. We live in the city with barely a yard and no fencing making it harder for him to get proper excercise. He loves the sun and loves to sunbathe, but he is definately an inside dog. Born and raised indoors. Basically he neds more room and more attention. Our work schedules don't allow us much time fro him other than an occasional walk around the blocks and a little downtime.
