Story
Meet Dale, a 2-year-old neutered male Labrador Retriever mix.Dale is a fun loving boy with an energetic personality. He loves to get out into the play yard for some action and is always ready for a walk in the park. Dale is a large and handsome man, weighing in at 78 pounds. He knows the sit command and is even working on down. He is too active for cats and finds chasing them exciting so he does need a home without felines. Dale is going to make a great companion for an active adopter. He would love to have a nice yard to call his own.Come meet Dale today, he is currently located at the Yakima Animal Shelter. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop.

Story
Meet Spike is a 2-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer,Spike is a perfect mix of moderate energy and a friendly personality. Whether he's enjoying a game of fetch or just hanging out with his best buddy, Zeus, Spike is always up for a good time. His friendly demeanor and playful nature make him a joy to be around. Looking for a loyal companion with a zest for life? Spike is your guy!Spike was in a foster home for a while and here is what his fosters had to say "He was very intelligent and did know basic commands. He is house trained however he doesn't like to be out alone. Simply letting him out to go, he will turn around and come right back and want to go out again. He is very calm if he has a person within sight. He seems to have a lot of Doberman traits. He will nudge you constantly to be pet and have belly rubs. He was fine with our kids they just basically ignored each other. We have barn cats and it started out fine and they would be on the top of the fence on our porch, and he would sniff them no big deal. We have chickens and he was fine, but he made the hens nervous and tried following me in the gate while I was feeding them. He is a beautiful dog but...... He needs to be with a homebody person or someone who works from home. He bonds to one person primarily especially female. He warmed up to my husband fine after a few days, but you can tell he is more affectionate and listens to the lady of the house more. He needs to be kenneled when someone leaves. He loves being outside and somewhat fetches a ball. He doesn't bring it back but easily lets you take it back from him. He is a bit of a messy eater and leaves a few kibbles here and there but is not food aggressive at all. He is the sweetest dog not a mean bone in his body. He does alert bark well when someone comes to the door which was a plus living in the country. Kids called him Rocky the rocket ??. Spike just didn't seem right for such a sweet dog.
