Story
About Me: Names: Mae Young Breed (or best guess): Maltese Shih Tzu type mix Approximate Age: 3-6 yrs Gender: F Approximate Weight: around 10 lb Adoption Fee: $495 -$100 sponsorship from her foster family Requirements: patience to train for leash walking, another dog is helpful Why In Rescue: Owner passed away update from foster home: She potties and poops on the pee pads almost every single time. I think she’s only had one poop off of the pads since she’s been here. Unfortunately, she doesn’t seem to know what to do outside yet. And the weather sure hasn’t helped. Hard to spend much time out there. She is still quite timid and shy. She seems more playful in the morning and will give me kisses and roll around and be silly. But she is still pretty wary. Her favorite spot is on my couch. She will run and jump up there when she is anxious. We are still sleeping on the couch together. She hasn’t really snuggled with me much yet. But she will let me pet her and seems to enjoy ear scratches. She doesn’t play with toys. She eats her food well. She especially likes the wet food. She’s not very treat oriented. She is very quiet! I rarely hear her bark. She has never once growled or snapped or anything like that. She let me clean her eyes, even though I know she didn’t like it. She is very submissive. She doesn’t really interact much with my dog. They mostly sniff each other and then walked past. They will lay next to each other, but that’s about it. So I do think she could go to a home without another dog. When I’ve left her alone for a little while, she seems to be just fine. She doesn’t seem to bark or get stressed out. I think she mostly hangs out on the couch. Which is a big change for me! Evie was very stressed when left alone and would bark the whole time. A lot like my dog. Even though she doesn’t snuggle and is still timid, she does like to be where I am. When I’m in the shower, she is outside the door. When I go upstairs, she will often come up and check things out. And like I said, she is always on the couch when I am (and when I’m not lol) She is really a joy! I hope she learns that she is safe and loved and isn’t so skittish with human contact. Mae’s foster has generously donated $100 towards her adoption fee to help her get into a new home. Starla Saxton and Mae Young are the final two girls from the Wrestler Pack looking for homes. They are quite bonded with each other, but could be separated as long as there is another dog in the home. They are still working on learning leash walking. These girls deserve a great home! Original Profile: The Wrestler Pack is a group of young dogs from 3-6 whose owner passed away. They were left in poor grooming condition and had fleas. They have now been clipped, bathed, treated for fleas, and updated their vet care. They have been started on vaccines, deworming, flea/tick/heartworm preventative. Prior to adoption they will be spayed/neutered, heartworm tested negative, rabies vaccinated, microchipped and passed a veterinary exam. The have also received dentals if needed. They are all friendly dogs but seem to have never walked on a leash. They may have spent much of their time outside, so we don't know about their housetraining. They do want to be with other dogs and get along well with each other, so may have separation anxiety if there isn't another dog in the home. (Don't have another dog, think about adopting two if you have the time, space, and finances. There is a reduced adoption fee for adopting a pair.) We don't know if they have been exposed to children or to cats. The little ones who have gone into foster homes are doing very well! If interested in meeting/adopting one of these dogs, please fill out the pre-adoption application, and we will have you come in to meet the various dogs so you can find one (or two) that have the personality you are looking for. We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com. Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs. Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home. Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age. We are located in Mukwonago, WI. Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs. Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt. Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog. All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax. Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer. Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections. To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value). You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts. You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee. For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets. If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work. We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home. If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed. We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time. Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out. We do have a 30 day trial period. For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $100 within 30 days of the return of the dog. Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment. The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS January 5, 2025, 2:17 pm
