Monica is a sweet but shy girl that came to use when her elderly owner was unable to take care of the large number of dogs in his care. She is very sweet, loves attention, but she is shy and will cower away until she knows she is safe with you. She is great with other small dogs, she is a bit scared of cats probably because she has not had much exposure to them. Monica is excited to go outside and do her business, but due to her being so shy she is not good at communicating her needs. She has been doing very well with puppy pads in her foster home. Monica would probably do best in a home with another small dog that can show her the ropes. She is spayed, recently had a dental vaccinated, and micro-chipped. Sheena is a darling Maltese Poodle mix who thinks the world should revolve solely around her. In fact she has a unique ability to make all other dogs seem invisible in her ideal world. She wants to be the center of your universe and if you have other plans, she will happily remind you otherwise. Some may compare it to “only child syndrome.” In return for your undivided attention, Sheena will worship you more than parishioners would of the leader of their cult. She will stay by your side and love you with every ounce of her 15 lb body. Sheena isn’t sure how she ended up in a rescue when we know her devotion to her former owner must have been unparalleled. She is certain that if you give her a chance to bond with you, she will love you forever. She needs someone home more often than not, as she learns how to be alone and grow her independence and confidence. She is fine with or without other dogs, as long as she has humans to dote on her! What can we say...she loves hard! Like many of our rescue dogs, We are not sure how well housetrained Sheena is. But with gentle persuasion, some consistency, structure and praise she should be easy to train. Sheena is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks Sheena’s adoption fee is $450 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Adoption fees also allow us the ability to put funds towards the next homeless or unwanted dog in need of rescue! Mia is an adorable, shy, quiet little girl who had a bit of a rough start in life. She was abandoned by her owners in an apartment and according to the landlord there she spent most of her time locked in a cage. She likely had little socialization as well. She has gotten lots of love and attention here at the rescue as she is a favorite of several of the volunteers. Mia is about 3 years old. She is learning about house rules, leashes and walks. She is so passive and we are trying to bring her out of her shell and teach her how a beloved family dog should live! She weighs about 6 lbs.
