Story
Saddle up and meet Cowboy Hank, the most adorable pup on this side of the Mississippi. At just 12 weeks old and weighing in at a whopping 12 pounds, this little buckaroo is ready to rustle up some love and laughter in his forever home. Every pup has an origin story, and this is his. Cowboy Hank, along with his sister Mollie Mae, were found abandoned on the streets. These two little bandits were in pretty rough shape, suffering from two different types of mange, full of worms, and skinnier than a tumbleweed. Thankfully, a kind soul discovered them and reached out to us for help. Now, after some much-needed TLC, Cowboy Hank is back on his paws and ready to find his 'pyrfect' family. While Hank’s ancestors were busy protecting sheep from wolves, Hank is more likely to protect your heart from loneliness. He's got the bravery of a seasoned sheriff and the fluffiness of a cotton candy cloud—quite the combination! With medium puppy energy, Cowboy Hank strikes the perfect balance between playful and cuddly. He’s up for a game of fetch or a lazy afternoon nap. And don't let his size fool you; he’s destined to grow into a majestic, gentle giant with paws the size of Texas! With medium puppy energy, Cowboy Hank strikes the perfect balance between playful and cuddly. He’s up for a romp with his favorite toys or a lazy afternoon nap that will make you jealous of his napping skills. Fetch might not be his game—he's more of a "you threw it, you fetch it" kind of guy—but he’ll happily entertain himself (and you) with his toys, putting on a one-pup show that could rival any comedy act. And when it comes to water, he’s more of a land lover—no swimmin’ for this cowboy! If you ever see him near water, you might catch him giving it the stink eye and slowly backing away. This little cowboy needs a hand getting into the car because he’s just a pup and too small to make the leap on his own. However, once he's in, he’ll play for a bit before settling down for a relaxing ride, often looking out the window with an expression that says he's contemplating the meaning of life (or maybe just wondering if there are snacks involved). He’s a budding adventurer who’d thrive with an active family ready to take him on hikes and new explorations, though he might need a boost over any logs or big rocks—his short legs aren't made for mountaineering! Hank’s still working on his leash skills, so he hasn’t been on many walks yet, but he’s eager to learn and loves the idea of exploring the great outdoors. Just be prepared for some zig-zagging and sudden stops as he figures out that the leash isn’t a chew toy or a snake out to get him. Cowboy Hank's social skills rival those of a seasoned politician shaking hands at a county fair. His friendly demeanor is so infectious that even the grumpiest old timer at the saloon can't resist cracking a smile when Hank waltzes in. When it comes to meeting other dogs, Hank starts off a bit like a tumbleweed in a high wind—hesitant and cautious. But give him a minute, and he's chasing his tail with the best of them, forming impromptu doggy posses faster than you can say "yeehaw!" Now, Hank hasn't exactly had a run-in with a feline critter yet, but judging by his laid-back attitude, we reckon he'd greet a cat with a tip of his cowboy hat and a polite "howdy." Who knows, maybe they'd end up sharing a sunbeam for an afternoon siesta. And when it comes to kids, well, let's just say Hank's got more patience than a cowboy at a slow cattle drive. He'll happily trot alongside them, playing cowboy and outlaw or rounding up imaginary cattle with the enthusiasm of a rookie ranch hand. When it comes to potty training, Cowboy Hank is a bit like a tumbleweed in the wind—sometimes he hits the mark, other times he's just wandering. But fear not, with a little patience and a whole lot of treats, he'll be wrangling bathroom breaks like a seasoned ranch hand in no time. As for kennel training, well, let's just say Cowboy Hank is still figuring out that a crate isn't the same as a bunkhouse. And when it comes to chew toys, Cowboy Hank knows the difference between his rope and your favorite boots—though he might sneak a nibble if he's feeling particularly rebellious. Just keep those squeaky toys handy, and he'll be too busy playing the day away to cause any trouble. But beware, this pup's got a voice that could startle a coyote at midnight, and he's not afraid to use it. Whether it's barking at the mailman or singing along to his favorite country tunes, Cowboy Hank believes every woof is justified—even if you might disagree. So, if you're ready to add a touch of frontier flair to your life, consider adopting Cowboy Hank. With his love for life, unwavering loyalty, and knack for entertaining, he'll turn your living space into the best little hoedown this side of the Mississippi. Just remember, adopting Cowboy Hank means signing up for a lifetime of adventures, laughs, and maybe even a few tall tales. So saddle up and mosey on down to the shelter today—Cowboy Hank is waiting to lasso your heart! 🤠 📍 Pickup Location: Hutchinson, KS 📝 Adoption App: https://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/hx000BP7nbQvjHX49Uur80FV3

Story
Navy Wigglebutt's Story -Written by Navy Wigglebutt, a 5-month-old, 40lb male Great Pyrenees/Husky mix. 📍 Pickup Location: Skiatook, OK 📝 Adoption App: https://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/hx000BP7nbQvjHX49Uur80FV3 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I have never had a home before. Kind of crazy right? I have been around for almost half a year and have never truly had a place to call my own. Heck, I didn't even have a name up until a few months ago. How is that even possible you ask? Well, I was part of yet another unwanted litter in Oklahoma. My owners didn't want me or my siblings and figured the best way to get rid of us, was to dump us somewhere. We ended up being picked up and entered the shelter program. We served our stray hold uneventfully and then they transferred us to PPFT. We ended up landing in a pretty awesome foster home, so that is really nice. It just doesn't give that same feeling though that a forever home would. Can you imagine the feeling of security that comes with having a family? The feeling that they will be as loyal to you as you are to them? That they will love you forever and ever, no matter what? That you will always have a place by their side through thick and thin? At least, that is what I have heard that a forever family should be. I have yet to experience it but I sure hope my new family will be all that and more! Now, I am sure you are curious about my name...and if you didn't catch it above...my name is Navy Wigglebutt. I am part of the "Bean" litter and we thought adding Wigglebutt to the end of it would be quite fun. Plus, it is very true. I am quite the little wigglebutt. I love making new friends. It doesn't matter if they are kids, cats, or other dogs. I am a social butterfly through and through and always make the best impressions....or so I am told! I am eager to please and I just know that with some more guidance and training...you will soon have a pup on your hands that even your grandma will be doting over! Trust me, I just know that given the chance...I am going to steal the hearts of everyone I meet! It also helps that I have an amazing personality. I don't mean to toot my own horn or anything, but I am a pretty awesome pup. I will always be up for joining you on your adventures. Walks? Absolutely, as long as you don't mind continuing Count me in! I think it would be so cool to explore new places and scents. Public Places? Ummm...when can we start? What could be better than a walk and getting to make new friends all wrapped into one fun trip?! And if you prefer using the car to get you somewhere, no worries! I may not be big enough to get in on my own yet, but I am working on it...trust me! And once in, I will happily plop down in the backseat and just chill until it is time to get up and go again! This is probably the time to mention that while all the above would be awesome, it is not a necessity for me. I would be perfectly content living a more laid-back lifestyle at the house if my family had a big yard for me to romp around and play in. The real icing on the cake would be if they had other dogs and/or kids for me to play with! Heck, I can already imagine my family and I on a hot summer day, in the yard with the kids playing in the hose water and me joining in and running around with them in the water just having an amazing and wholesome time together. I really love to have fun and can easily keep up with my family, but I am also really good about chilling out and just hanging out with my people inside. I just know I would make an amazing homework buddy, a wonderful and cuddly friend to snuggle up to each night, and someone you can sneak your broccoli to under the table. Well, I haven't actually had broccoli yet but it can't be THAT bad right?! If I were to take a gander, I would think that you are really drawn to me at this point....as you should be(and I mean that in the least egotistical way possible). I am sure the biggest thing going around in your head right now is...how big will I be full grown? Well, I would love to answer that for you...but I just don't know. I know I know...you want me to give my best guess....it doesn't have to be exact but at least a ballpark range. That kinda sucks considering I am not even into fetch, I mean what good are balls if you always have to chase after them?! Back on track though, if I were to guess I think that I am going to be around 80lbs once fully grown. So, if that ends up being the case...there are a few things you should know. First, personal space will no longer be a thing. I won't allow it to be. If I want cuddles, you can bet I am going to still claim that spot in your lap. We can call it extreme cuddling...if you will! Second, I will soon realize that my body has become the prime blocking tool in getting you to stop mid-walk and give me some ear rubs before having to finagle(am I spelling this right...this is such a weird word but it sure is fun to say) your way around me. Lastly, a fur-free home will be a thing of the past. No longer will you have to worry about bare floors or plain clothes. You will soon have a house full of my glorious fur letting you know that my big ole fluffy self is always there for you! Apartment dwellers, how I would love to say we are a good match but alas I am looking for a home where I can stretch my legs, overlook my yard, and just get to enjoy the great outdoors. For my house dwellers...you are in for a treat! I am already potty trained... can we just take a minute to appreciate that you will be adopting a PUPPY that is already potty trained? Now, that doesn't mean you can go crazy and not let me out for like 6-8hrs +, I am good but I am not THAT good. ;) I am also kennel trained so while I believe I can soon earn my free-roam the house badge when you are gone, you can trust that I will be okay in my kennel until that time comes. Let's just not overdo it though okay? For those that have a doggie door, I am a pro at using one so no training is necessary on that front! Well..this is it folks. The moment I have been waiting for...are you going to be my forever? Are you going to make me yours and fill out an application for me at https://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/hx000BP7nbQvjHX49Uur80FV3 *Please say yes, please say yes, please say yes* Once your application comes on, PPFT will send over more details about me and forward your app to my foster family for review. If everything still sounds like a match, PPFT will finish getting you all approved so you can meet and welcome me home!

Chickadee's Story -Written by Chickadee, a 14-week-old, 20lb female Great Pyrenees mix from our Tweeting Tails Litter. 📍 Pickup Location: Skiatook, OK 📝 Adoption App: https://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/hx000BP7nbQvjHX49Uur80FV3 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey there, it’s Chickadee, and I want to share a bit of my journey with you. It’s been a tough road, but it’s also made me the hopeful, loving pup I am today. You see, I came from a home where there were just too many of us—ten puppies in total. Our owners couldn’t find us all homes and couldn’t afford to feed us properly. It was a struggle just to get enough food each day, and unfortunately, one of my siblings didn’t make it. He passed away the day before we were scheduled to come to PPFT, likely because he couldn’t get enough to eat and kept getting pushed out of the way during mealtime. When we arrived at PPFT, we were in pretty rough shape. Dehydrated, full of parasites, and much too skinny. We were all quite sick and didn’t know what the future held. But thanks to the amazing care we received, we bounced back to being healthy and happy puppies. We’ve been given a second chance, and now it’s time to start the search for my forever home. So here I am, excited and hopeful, looking for a forever family where I can bring joy, laughter, and endless tail-wagging happiness. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s been through a lot and is ready to shower you with love, then look no further—I’m your girl, and I can't wait to meet you!
