Felix is an approximately 2 &1/2 year-old male min-pin who comes to PAWS from a CT animal control where he was picked up as stray. Felix is a friendly little guy who enjoys meeting new people and is good around other dogs. Felix can be a bit of a resource guarder and requires an adopter who will be a confident leader with him and continue with his crate training. As long as Felix's food and toys are confined to his crate and he is not allowed up on the couch, he does amazingly well. Felix was adopted earlier this year and did wonderfully with his new mom. He was just settling in and fully letting his guard down when she suddenly uprooted him and moved into a new shared residence. This raised his anxiety levels and resulted in a bite when a man he had never met invaded his space. His owner then panicked and abandoned him at a local animal control. Despite this sad turn of events, Felix was happy to greet all of his old friends at PAWS. He loves going on walks with all of our volunteers and playing in the yard. His training at his prior home has actually helped him immensely as we have not seen much resource guarding since we took him back. Although he plays well with other dogs, due to his resource guarding, a household without another dog or cat would probably be best for him. We believe that he would also do best in a single person household so that he does not develop any guarding behavior of one person over the other. Felix is microchipped, neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.

Story

Pacer, a black and tan Miniature Pinscher, about 4.5 years old on 5/19/24, was rescued 2 years ago. He was morbidly obese and appeared to be in a catatonic state when we got him. He was so terrified that he completely shut down and moved so little that we were concerned that he wasn’t even breathing. We took him to the vet to bring him up to date on vaccinations, but decided to wait until he was less terrified before we put him through the trauma of being neutered. He was neutered and vaccinations updated on 5/31/24. Pacer, unfortunately, tested positive for heartworms and is on the slow kill, doxycycline protocol. Pacer will do best in a quiet home with an experienced dog owner. Due to his fearfulness, he will not be considered for homes with young children. Pacer is located in Arkansas. He currently weighs about 15 pounds. His adoption donation is $500 which includes the $165 transport fee. If you would like to give Pacer the loving home he deserves and help him develop into the confident little guy he can become, please complete the first step in the adoption process by filling out an online adoption application. DOB 5-5-2024 Gideon is a very handsome kid! He loves to play with the other little dogs, likes toys and of course attention! Gideon is up to date on all shots and medical for his age. His tail has been docked and dew claws removed but has beautiful all natural ears! When Gideon grows up he will be around 10 to 12 pounds. His adoption fee is 400.00 and his transport charge is 165.00. HEARTS is our transport service and they are wonderful! Blue Man is a very handsome silver gray 6-year-old min pin that weighs 13 lb and is looking for a home since his original mom is in stage 4 breast cancer. He has lived with another black and tan min pin girl and they have had several litters over the years. We ideally would love for the two of them to go together but we feel that they could live separately. This boy is extremely sweet and oh so handsome and wonderful on a leash. He is almost housebroken and does not pee in the house but sometimes will do number two but is getting better with that every day. He is very good with other dogs but we don't know about cats since there are none in his foster home. He is a calm boy and would be a prize for someone to love. He loves to be under the covers and will snuggle and sleep at your feet. If you know the breed you know their traits their intelligence and their devotion to their human. If you would even consider to you would be double blessed with double love. Our little lady Mia is a 6-year-old min pin who is 14 lb and talks to the world. She is extremely aware of her environment and surroundings and any new things that come within her realm of sight. She will bark to make a comment. This girl is loving and adores being under the covers at night with her foster mom. The min pin breed is such a smart and intelligent dog and she has been with another male that is a companion but we feel they might be able to live apart. She is not housebroken as yet. She's a little stubborn on that but nothing that a diaper couldn't contain and also work on controlling that training. She walks beautifully on a leash is great around other dogs and probably would be fine with cats if tested. She's good with meeting new people but will bark at first till she gets to know you. She is not an apartment dog because of the barking and we wouldn't want your neighbors to be upset. She is happy and stable and very workable on some of the things that she is falling short on. If you would love this beautiful girl and have the time to work with her on the house breaking element she's ready to go. Kennel trained and leash trained and people friendly along with dogs, this girl really can be the total good package. Hi everyone, my name is Canelo. I’m a handsome tri-color MinPin/Chihuahua mix, 1-year-old, 12 lbs and I was living a hard life near San Antonio Texas. My 2 brothers and I, and our owner were living in a homeless camp in the woods and were hanging out at a convenience store one very hot day when a lady stopped by and offered us water. Instead, our owner offered to sell us, so that nice lady bought us and is now our foster mom. It was scary at first and it took some time to make friends and relax. We had never been in a car or lived in a house with air conditioning, or had regular meals, or went to a vet, but we all adjusted and are loving it now (especially the AC in summer in Texas)! I am a very sweet boy, still shy at first when I meet new people, but give me a day and I’ll warm right up. Then all bets are off and I’m happy and playful, playing with doggy friends and doggy toys, and snuggling beside you while we watch TV. I’m now housebroken and know how to use a doggy door. I’m well-behaved and can walk okay on a leash. I hear many wonderful families on the East Coast would be happy to have a sweet little dog like me, so I can't wait to meet them and get my life started! * 4 Little Paws is based in CT.
