ATTENTION:  All of our dogs are in private foster homes.  We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs.  If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to www.secondchancedogrescue.org and complete an application.    We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. // // Meet Sherlock! He is a 24lbs, 3 years old, white Poodle mix. Sherlock loves humans and will bond to all his primary humans quickly. He will also play well with other dogs. Sherlock has lived a difficult life and as a result is very food and treat motivated. Clear boundaries are needed for Sherlock as he has an oral fixation and wants to nibble on his humans to express affection. The oral fixation is easily corrected with food and treats, but probably not appropriate to live with children under that age of 12. He loves to snuggle and will love you deeply if you’re scratching him. Sherlock can be unsure of new humans and new environments and needs a moment to acclimate. He walks well on a leash and rides well in a car. Due to his past life, Sherlock does have some abandonment trauma and will always prefer to be with his humans rather than home alone. His Foster says he can be alone at home for a few hours but will be sitting at the door waiting for you the entire time. He is house/potty trained, neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Can you give him the great life he deserves? Sherlock’s adoption fee is $300.   All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to  www.secondchancedogrescue.org  and complete an application today!    All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.  February 21, 2025, 2:40 pm

Story
Meet Morita, this little piranha is the cutest baby you will ever meet. A little puppy full of energy and excited to make new friends. She loves to play with dogs and cats, she is usually very friendly and sociable, she adapts easily to new environments, and loves to play with balls, small stuffed animals, ropes, and anything you give her, she is in her naughty stage, and she is too adorable, easy to train, she is in potty training, she still has some accidents but it is normal in a puppy. He is also learning to walk on leash. She has no problem wearing clothes, bows or having a ponytail. She likes to sleep in a big and comfortable bed, or sleep in bed with you, she usually follows you around the house running, even if you walk, she is tiny, haha, she likes to play biting (but it doesn't hurt, it's just because she is a puppy) Intelligent, adorable, loving, she likes to give lots of kisses, she welcomes you with joy when you come home, and she knows how to ride in a car.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application.  If you would like to try a Foster to Adopt trial, please fill out an Adoption Application.  If you are only interested in temporarily Fostering one of our rescues, please fill out a Foster Application.   Meet Ro!Rohanna is an adorable baja mutt small breed. She looks like a little terrier with a wire-haired around her face hence we believe she likely has poodle mix and of course some sort of smaller breeds too. Rohanna has longer skinny legs, a bit taller than some of her other siblings. We expect she will grow into the 15--25 pound range so likely 20 pounds. Ro was rescued along with her 6 siblings. All have been adopted except for her sis and best friend Rohini. Both sweethearts are fostered together along many other arwob rescue dogs and cats. If anyone is looking to add TWO friends to their home, THESE girls would be a dream partners. They aren't bonded but compliment each other so fantastic. They look different as Rohana is taller and thinner while her sister Rohini is a little low rider and thicker (sturdier looking ha!) they do have the same color pattern. We know these girls so well since they have been with her foster since New Year and came in weighing only 6 pounds and 2 months old, sadly they haven't found their home but we can say you will not find more loving well behaved sweeties than these babes (ok, we are biased) but they have not been nothing but a pleasure to foster and have hosted as they never give any trouble. They are healthy fully vetted and done with their medical. Super social and loving with people, fantastic with all dogs personalities as well as cats. Not barky small breeds, fantastic in the crate as they sleep 9hrs at night without a problem and through the day they take a couple hours in the crate for naps. We can't say enough how happy someone will be to adopt one or both girls. If they can't be adopted together it would be perfect if they can be adopted by someone with another dog or plan on having them involved with many dogs through the days to have canine friends and companionship. They adore humans but if you are looking to add a dog to your home for solely your companionship, these girls are not the ones for you. They need doggy friends in their life. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application. We set up meet & greet appointments, do a home visit or send them the address for some meet & greet locations, paperwork and suddenly they said they are not ready or spouse is not ready, etc. These fur kids have a very hard day the day of their appointment. Due to travelling we hold their food, so they won't get car sick. We bath them, some of them are schedule for grooming as you know it is stressful for them; then they have to travel with us picking up other rescued fur kids, and so on, it is a very stressful hard day for them for people to just cancel at last minute or not show up or do show up and just say they are not ready. Our time as well as your time is valuable. Please don't waste valuable time that is so precious for a rescued pet. Every single wasted time is a time that an animal will die because we didn't get to them on time to help them. In addition, of wasting gas and grooming fees which are paid by volunteers. Please take the time to put your shoes in the shoes of the volunteer and most of it to put your shoes on our rescued fur kids!! Please take a minute to tell yourself if you are ready to adopt and for this commitment. LIVE!! LOVE!! LAUGH!! ADOPT A RESCUED HOMELESS PET AND SAVE A LIFE!!

Story
Maury is 7-8 years old and weighs 16 lbs. He’s playful but has a calm temperament. He’s friendly and outgoing. Maury was left abandoned on the road to BAS this past summer, and had an injury to his eye. Our vet tried to save the eye but eventually had to remove the eye. He’s still adjusting to only having one eye and, while he’s social with other dogs, very active dogs may be overwhelming for him. If you would like to meet this dog you can read about our adoption process and submit an application on our website at: http://www.bajaanimalsanctuary.org/dogs.htm  December 5, 2024, 11:17 pm

Story
Paloma was found in the streets of Los Angeles. She had a few minor injuries that she has already recovered from. Paloma is about 1 year old female poodle/maltese mix. She weights 15 lbs. She may get to 20 lbs max when she is fully grown. She is spayed and her shots are up to date. Her blood work came back clean. She is in great healt! Paloma is a smart and friendly girl. In just a few weeks, she learned to use the pee pee pads, to walk on the leash, and to wait until she is walked to go potty. She sleeps in her own bed throughout the night. She gets along with my three dogs. I have taken her to hang out with family and friends, and she loves EVERYONE. Paloma enjoys playing with other small dogs and kids. I have not introduced her to large dogs or cats, but I think she will be fine with both. She loves chewing on toys. She is not destructive, but she has stolen a few socks to play with them. Asking for a $250 rehoming fee to help me cover her sterilization and vet bills.

Story
Meet Crystal! 12-year-old Crystal was entrusted to our care through the Final Wish Program after her dad passed away. She spent her life as a beloved, devoted companion, often curled up in his lap. Since November, Crystal has been living in a loving foster home, where she’s shown what a sweet and gentle soul she truly is. Crystal doesn't ask for much— just someone to love her and let her love them back. She is a sweet, gentle soul who is great with other dogs. Crystal is potty trained and goes to the door when she needs to go out. She doesn't exhibit any separation anxiety when her foster mom leaves the house. Crystal prefers to graze on food, or will enjoy brunch and a late dinner. She is a champ about taking her meds in a little meatball (or other yummy treat.) Crystal has limited vision but seems to see some light. She has learned the layout of her foster home and feels very safe walking around without any guidance. Crystal enjoys sunning herself and toddling around the yard. Crystal loves sleeping in dog beds and getting tucked in with a blanket. She also loves to be held and snuggled, but she's also surprisingly independent. If you have spot in your heart to love and nurture a sweet little soul, baby Crystal is for you! To meet Crystal, please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org.

Story
Meet Beckham! Beckham entered Riverside Shelter as a stray, and unfortunately, he wasn't claimed. After the shelter reached out for an exit plan for this little guy, we scooped him up to become a Frosted Face on November 12th. Beckham is around 12 years old and weighs just under 18 lbs. Doesn't he look like a puppy after being groomed? Beckham went on a two-week Frosted Fling, so he could recover from dental surgery in the comforts of a home, while we learned all about him! His Fling Mom reports: "Beckham has been such a laid back little dude. He toddles about our home. and it really is just the cutest thing. He reminds us of a little panda bear. Here is what we’ve learned - "Beckham was initially not eating well while onsite at FFF, but this guy is a total foodie n the home environment and will supervise you if you’re cooking or eating. He often stands at our feet in the kitchen or stands next to the table while we eat. It’s the most heart melting thing when he peers up at you hoping for a bite. He will try to steal kibble from other dogs’ bowls, so keep an eye on this guy! Beckham is totally unreactive to our pets. He has no issues with dogs or cats. He would be fine in a home with or without other pets. Beckham snoozes A LOT! His favorite pastime is taking naps. And when he is out, he is out! He won’t even lift his head if you pet him. Beckham takes his medication like a pro! He is only on one and has had no issues with it while with us. Beckham loves little treats. So far we know he enjoys salmon skin and apple chicken sausage dog treats. Beckham is a pacer and will make little laps about the home. We just let him do his thing, and he eventually finds a spot to settle in. Beckham is quiet and not a barker. We have only heard a single low bark out of him once. And that was to let us know he needed to go potty. He has been totally quiet otherwise. Beckham is just the mellowest guy with the sweetest eyes. He is hoping that his forever family will find him before the holidays are over. He sure would love to be someone’s companion and he promises to be an extra good boy." Beckham is currently on another Fling while he waits for his forever family. Might that be you? To meet Beckham, please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org.

*This is a courtesy listing.* Meet Chewbacca! Chewbacca is a sweet, cuddly, and playful 8-year-old Poodle mix who is looking for a loving new home alongside his best friend and brother, Rubio. Unfortunately, due to a housing issue, their owner had to make the recent heartbreaking decision to rehome them. Rubio and Chewbacca have spent their entire lives together, and it's important for them to find a home where they can stay together. Chewbacca and Rubio are loyal and affectionate pups who are great with kids and other dogs. They enjoy playing fetch and going for walks, and they are always up for a good cuddle session! Chewbacca and Rubio love car rides and are happy to join their humans on fun outings to the beach or off-leash dog park. Whether it’s running in the yard or snuggling up with you on the couch, they are truly wonderful companions. If you’re looking for a pair of sweet and fun pups who will fill your home with love, Chewbacca and Rubio might be a perfect fit. They can’t wait to bring joy to a new family! *This is a courtesy listing.* Urgent Foster Needed for Sweet Senior Dog - Prudence I’m moving overseas on January 28, and I need help caring for my dog, Prudence, until I can arrange her relocation. Unfortunately, my new apartment does not allow dogs, and the person who had agreed to take her can no longer do so. Prudence is a lovely, gentle dog with a lot of heart despite some health challenges. She had her right front leg amputated about five years ago due to cancer, and she now has a new tumor on her right rump that can’t be removed. Thankfully, she is not in any pain and has a calm, low-maintenance routine. Prudence is a quiet, affectionate dog who loves to sleep next to you and is content with short walks around the neighborhood. Health: No medications needed. She is in stable health despite her physical limitations. Behavior: Prudence is very patient with children (I’ve had my niece and nephew, ages 4 and 8, interact with her) and she’s great with cats. She loves company and is fine with gentle pets from little ones. Special Needs: Prudence's three legs make her more prone to falling, but she’s a trooper. She has some difficulty with balance but otherwise leads a peaceful life. What Prudence Needs: * Someone who can provide a safe and quiet environment, ideally with no other high-energy pets. * A foster home where she can continue her calm routine of eating, resting, and taking short walks. If you’re interested in fostering Prudence or have any questions, please contact me at: grantdittmer@yahoo.com or 858-882-7471. Thank you so much for considering giving her a safe, loving place to stay. *Frosted Faces Foundation has not assessed this dog medically or behaviorally.*

Story
Mr. Fluffer needs a family! Hey there! I’m Chuck, a lovable 7-year-old, 22-pound Bichon Frise with a big heart and an even bigger smile. My journey started when I was found wandering around San Diego, dirty and matted. Thankfully, the kind folks at the San Diego Humane Society took me in, but I spent my days there feeling pretty shut down and alone.  Then, TAP came in to save the day, and my life has been looking up ever since! As for my health, I’m already neutered, but I do have some GI issues that need to be managed with a special diet. I’ll also need a dental appointment sometime soon to get a tooth removed — but hey, who doesn’t need a little TLC now and then? My foster parents say I’m the sweetest boy ever! I adore cuddles and just being close to my humans. Since I’m a bit of a seasoned pup, I enjoy bursts of playful energy but also know how to kick back and relax. While my humans are away at work, I’ll happily snooze the hours away.  I’m super easygoing and keep my family smiling with my silly antics. Some of my favorite things include belly rubs, car rides, playing fetch, nice walks, and staying hydrated (I take my water bowl very seriously!) I’m a bit of a protector and will bark at strangers when I'm outside or when guests come over. Sudden movements can make me jumpy, too, so I'm still working on feeling secure in those situations. I can be a little territorial at home, but with patience and introductions, I tend to warm up. As far as my training goes, I’m fully potty-trained, but I can have an accident here and there if a full bowl of water is left within my reach.  I’m not a fan of crates, but with a little encouragement, I’ll go right in and sleep inside one throughout the night.  When left alone during the day, however, I’d prefer to skip the crate and nap on the couch instead.  After all, I’m not the destructive type and do completely fine with full reign of the house without causing any trouble.  I do have a bit of separation anxiety, though, but after barking for about 15 minutes when left behind, I tend to settle right in.  While I’m a dog-friendly kind of guy, I don’t need another pup in the home but wouldn’t mind a chill doggie sibling who likes doing their own thing. I’d be happiest in a mellow home with someone who’s around most of the time. But if you do need to leave for work, don’t worry — I manage just fine for 6-7 hours on my own. If you’re looking for a sweet, funny, and loyal companion who’s ready to shower you with love, I just might be your perfect match. My adoption fee is $150 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.  If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/.  You can also check me out on Instagram at @Fluffysfosterfriends. ##2274947##

Story
Nicholas was pulled on the day of his euthenazia date.  He was not doing well at all at the shelter and was terrified.  But almost immediatley after coming to his foster home, Nicholas relaxed.  He slept in his bed all night relieved. Nicholas is dog and cat friendly. Nicholas is quiet and a very shy but is coming out of his shell day by day. Foster is working on socialization that will need to be carried over to new owners. Another dog in the home would be extremely helpful for Nicholas. He is fully vaccinated and neutered. It must be noted that Nick is "SPECIAL NEEDS".  He will not let you touch him.  You cannot walk him.  And grooming is quite the challenge.  If you can get past that he really is a perfect dog.   ##1897878##
