Story
Meet Poppy (aka Popstar) – Your Hamburger-Loving, Pillow-Hogging, Zoomie Queen  Say hello to  Poppy , affectionately known as  Popstar —a scruffy little Poodle-Schnauzer mix with a big personality and an even bigger love for hamburgers (and Costco rotisserie chicken, obviously). Poppy is small enough to scoop up with ease, but don’t be fooled—this girl’s got hops. She zooms up and down the stairs, launches onto the couch like a flying squirrel, and does the cutest  little backup-run dance when she’s excited for food. She’s not a cuddler, but she loves being near you—especially if she gets to sleep on the pillow next to you at night. She’s also a firm believer in sleeping in and will happily snooze until 9:30 AM. When it comes to recall… well, she’s got her own style. Call her name and she  might  lift her head, glance in your direction—and then either go back to whatever she was doing or walk away entirely. She’s living life on  her  terms, thank you very much. Poppy is wonderful with other animals—big dogs, little dogs, and even cats. She’d be a great fit for just about any home, including one with respectful kids who understand that she’s more of a chill companion than a lapdog. She only barks when you get home or when there’s hamburger involved—both totally justified. Potty training is going great—she’s learning to signal when she needs to go out by doing a sweet little scratch at the door. She loves short walks and sniffing everything in sight, but she’s not in it for the cardio. If you’re looking for a low-drama, high-personality pup who marches to the beat of her own drum (and maybe ignores you while doing it),  Poppy the Popstar  just might be your perfect match.   Age:13 years old Breed: Poodle Mix Weight: 10 lbs Kid-friendly: Recommend older children with proper introductions Dogs:Yes Cats:Yes Crate trained: Not needed, as Poppy loves to be with her humans Potty trained: Doing well, actively working on mastering Health concerns: None Current medications & estimated costs:None at this time Adoption fee:$375 As a rescue, we provide the care, procedures and testing that is available to us. Adopters will be responsible for continued preventatives, follow-up appointments, and medications (if applicable). At times, adopters will be responsible for procedures not completed in rescue (dentals, bloodwork, etc.)  Your new dog will receive their rabies and distemper vaccine.  $50 discount for seniors (65+) and veterans. Adoption fees help pay for the dog's veterinary exam, vaccinations (rabies and distemper) HW test and spay/neuter if needed and additional health needs specific to each animal.   Grey Face Rescue does not adopt outside of Minnesota for now. We apologize for the inconvenience.  We do not adopt animals to families whose current pets are not up-to-date on vaccinations or not altered. Exceptions may be made for medical reasons as stated by a veterinarian and we will require proof of that recommendation. Thank you for understanding our mission to reduce overpopulation.  Once you submit your application, our adoption manager will be in touch, so please check your spam folder if you do not see something from us within 7-10 days.  Thank you again for your interest in a Grey Face senior. We appreciate your support!   April 16, 2025, 7:12 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Kermit- your new best (and very distinguished) friend! Kermit is a gentle senior with an even temperament and a heart full of love. His soulful eyes are impossible not to fall for. He’s a calm, cuddly guy, and happiest just being near his person—whether that’s relaxing on the couch or quietly keeping you company as you do your weekend chores. Because of his lovely long coat, Kermit will need regular grooming to keep him looking and feeling his best. But he’s worth every snip and brush—just wait until you see that post-grooming strut! Kermit is looking for a peaceful, loving home where he can enjoy his golden years surrounded by kindness, care, and companionship. If you’ve got a cozy spot in your heart (and your home), Kermit is ready to fill it. Kermit is currently living with a torn cruciate ligament, which means he takes daily medication to help keep him comfortable and happy. While it slows him down a bit, he still enjoys short strolls and plenty of cuddle time. His ideal home would be a quieter one—maybe with a soft bed, a kind human (or two), and a patient heart ready to help him heal. *This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and recommendations to keep your senior dog in top shape. Kermit is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 5/3/2025 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame.  Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 20, 2025, 6:47 pm
