Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Kermit- your new best (and very distinguished) friend! Kermit is a gentle senior with an even temperament and a heart full of love. His soulful eyes are impossible not to fall for. He’s a calm, cuddly guy, and happiest just being near his person—whether that’s relaxing on the couch or quietly keeping you company as you do your weekend chores. Because of his lovely long coat, Kermit will need regular grooming to keep him looking and feeling his best. But he’s worth every snip and brush—just wait until you see that post-grooming strut! Kermit is looking for a peaceful, loving home where he can enjoy his golden years surrounded by kindness, care, and companionship. If you’ve got a cozy spot in your heart (and your home), Kermit is ready to fill it. Kermit is currently living with a torn cruciate ligament, which means he takes daily medication to help keep him comfortable and happy. While it slows him down a bit, he still enjoys short strolls and plenty of cuddle time. His ideal home would be a quieter one—maybe with a soft bed, a kind human (or two), and a patient heart ready to help him heal. *This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and recommendations to keep your senior dog in top shape. Kermit is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 5/3/2025 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame.  Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 20, 2025, 6:47 pm

Story
Meet Poppy (aka Popstar) – Your Hamburger-Loving, Pillow-Hogging, Zoomie Queen  Say hello to  Poppy , affectionately known as  Popstar —a scruffy little Poodle-Schnauzer mix with a big personality and an even bigger love for hamburgers (and Costco rotisserie chicken, obviously). Poppy is small enough to scoop up with ease, but don’t be fooled—this girl’s got hops. She zooms up and down the stairs, launches onto the couch like a flying squirrel, and does the cutest  little backup-run dance when she’s excited for food. She’s not a cuddler, but she loves being near you—especially if she gets to sleep on the pillow next to you at night. She’s also a firm believer in sleeping in and will happily snooze until 9:30 AM. When it comes to recall… well, she’s got her own style. Call her name and she  might  lift her head, glance in your direction—and then either go back to whatever she was doing or walk away entirely. She’s living life on  her  terms, thank you very much. Poppy is wonderful with other animals—big dogs, little dogs, and even cats. She’d be a great fit for just about any home, including one with respectful kids who understand that she’s more of a chill companion than a lapdog. She only barks when you get home or when there’s hamburger involved—both totally justified. Potty training is going great—she’s learning to signal when she needs to go out by doing a sweet little scratch at the door. She loves short walks and sniffing everything in sight, but she’s not in it for the cardio. If you’re looking for a low-drama, high-personality pup who marches to the beat of her own drum (and maybe ignores you while doing it),  Poppy the Popstar  just might be your perfect match.   Age:13 years old Breed: Poodle Mix Weight: 10 lbs Kid-friendly: Recommend older children with proper introductions Dogs:Yes Cats:Yes Crate trained: Not needed, as Poppy loves to be with her humans Potty trained: Doing well, actively working on mastering Health concerns: None Current medications & estimated costs:None at this time Adoption fee:$375 As a rescue, we provide the care, procedures and testing that is available to us. Adopters will be responsible for continued preventatives, follow-up appointments, and medications (if applicable). At times, adopters will be responsible for procedures not completed in rescue (dentals, bloodwork, etc.)  Your new dog will receive their rabies and distemper vaccine.  $50 discount for seniors (65+) and veterans. Adoption fees help pay for the dog's veterinary exam, vaccinations (rabies and distemper) HW test and spay/neuter if needed and additional health needs specific to each animal.   Grey Face Rescue does not adopt outside of Minnesota for now. We apologize for the inconvenience.  We do not adopt animals to families whose current pets are not up-to-date on vaccinations or not altered. Exceptions may be made for medical reasons as stated by a veterinarian and we will require proof of that recommendation. Thank you for understanding our mission to reduce overpopulation.  Once you submit your application, our adoption manager will be in touch, so please check your spam folder if you do not see something from us within 7-10 days.  Thank you again for your interest in a Grey Face senior. We appreciate your support!   April 16, 2025, 7:12 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hello, my name is Toto! I am a delightfully happy and energetic adult male Poodle who loves people although, I have not met any kids yet! I also haven’t met any cats but I’m good with other dogs as long as they’re about my size! In fact, I would love to have a companion at my new home who can not only help me learn the ropes, but who can keep up with me and my rough play. Hee, hee! That is, of course unless my new family is active and regularly helps me release some of my pent-up energy…if that’s the case, I think I’d be ok as your one-and-only especially because I’d get to hoard all the affection! Ha, ha!! I’m a smart guy who knows commands like “outside”, and “go potty” and I look forward to learning more fun things. I should probably mention that I don’t like the kennel/crate, and I do not hesitate to voice my discontent! Potty training is a work in progress, and I need to go outside often but having said that, I do know how to use a potty pad in the house. As for the leash, let’s just say that I like to pull foster mom around the neighborhood! LOL!! In addition to spending time with my people, my favorite activities include barking at strangers outside; running like the wind in a fenced yard; playing with my squeaky toys; and of course, eating food and treats, which comes in handy when it’s training time. I’m just sayin’! Anyway, I am a little lover who is simply looking for YOU…a patient, unconditionally loving fur-ever family that will NEVER give up on me. If you’re looking for a bundle of love who enjoys a good snuggle session than you need not look any further…I’m your guy! I hope we get to meet soon because I am SO eager to start the next chapter of my life. Love, Toto Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Meet Skippy, the adorable 8-pound senior poodle (or poodle mix) who’s got all the sweet vibes of a happy old man. Skippy’s a total lovebug who just wants to be by your side—whether it’s snuggling on the couch, curling up in your lap, or burrowing under a pile of blankets to make his perfect little nest. He’s all about cuddles, snacks (a soft milkbone after doing his business is a must!), and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Skippy is potty trained and while he loves the comfort of a fenced yard to roam, he is leash trained and also loves the smells of the neighborhood when doing walks.  While he’s a little barker when left alone, he's generally a calm and docile soul who would do best in a home where he’s not left alone too much. Skippy enjoys the company of other dogs (especially those around his size) but could also be happy as a solo dog with enough attention and love. This sweet, tiny guy has a few quirks—his greasy skin and little "old dog" smell, which just means he may need some extra baths—but he’s just as cute as a button and full of love. As he has had more time in rescue and his skin has begun healing a bit, this does seem to be improving.  His vet thinks he’s around 12 or 13, but honestly, he might be even older, which just makes him even more of a little senior gem. Skippy is best suited for a home without too many stairs (he's small and has some old man joints) and would thrive with a family that’s home often and ready to give him the snuggles he deserves. If you're looking for a sweet, low-maintenance companion who will be your cuddle buddy and give you endless love, Skippy is the perfect match! He’s got a heart full of joy and is just waiting for the right person to spoil him. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. Story
Hi! My name is Cookie and I am from Minnesota. From her foster: Cookie a yorkipoo breeder release. She has diabetes and is blind, but still manages to be sweet and silly. She loves being with her humans and snuggles. She has strong opinions about being separated and will use her voice to let you know exactly how she feels. She is also pretty quick to settle down. She does seem to go potty and poop on a schedule but is also still prone to have accidents in the house. She doesn't have accidents in her kennel, on the furniture,or while being held. She does enjoy small walks and does okay on a leash. Because Cookie is blind I do feel that she would benefit from another small to medium sized dog in the house. She would need someone willing to keep a good schedule for her Insulin and to follow through with veterinarian appointments. From the Vet: I am Cookie and I have been cleared for adoption! After TBB helping to address my medical issues I will share where I am at with all of them. My diabetes is currently managed on insulin and a special veterinary diet. My diabetes will need to be monitored with a primary vet. I was seen for a mammary mass removal surgery recently and the good news is that the biopsy showed that the tumors were benign with good margins. This means that the removal procedure is likely to be curative for these masses and we do not expect me to need any future care for this issue. It is always good to routinely monitor for any masses and have them evaluated in the future should any present.
