Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rusty is 7 years old, only 9.6 pounds and looking for a second chance at love. When we met Rusty at the shelter, he was panicked. He had been surrendered by the only family he has ever known when they lost their home. Rusty is crate trained, enjoys car rides, like to fetch and walks nicely on leash but, we have to be honest, Rusty is not always easy. He is small but nippy - so he will require someone with experience. A home as an only dog or another very calm dog would be best.   Rusty will need a quieter environment in an all adult home. He will definitely need someone with patience to help him to settle in a home with no children and someone who will work with us on acclimating him to his home.  He is vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. * Please note you must live within 90 minutes of Chester, NJ to be consideredVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 11, 2025, 6:41 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Introducing Flash, the charming 9-year-old poodle with a heart full of love. Weighing just 15 pounds, Flash has found comfort in a loving and patient foster home, where he's doing great! This cutie walks nicely on leash and enjoys car rides and playing with toys. Flash’s ideal home would be with adults or older teens who can offer him a calm and predictable environment. Flash’s owner was male and, believe it or not, he is most comfortable with them. Young children, while wonderful, would be a bit too much for this sensitive soul. The great news? Flash is incredibly dog- and cat-friendly!&#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 He’s neutered, microchipped, and current on his vaccinations, so he’s ready to start his next chapter. Could that be with you? If you're ready to give Flash the loving forever home he deserves, please fill out an application at njshpetrescue.org.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 6, 2025, 5:33 pm

She enjoys the company of other dogs and cats and would do best in a home with another dog and without children in her new home. Kiki is such a love. She is house trained, great on a leash and walks right next to her foster sister too! She loves her squeaky plush toys. Kiki is crate trained and wary of new people so she would need to be crated when you have company. She is a sweetheart and wants to be on your lap! Kiki is fully vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. Story
Shaggy is a happy go lucky guy. His fluffy tail is always wagging! Shaggy is currently living in a foster home and is on a regular schedule with grooming, allergy shots and special diet to keep his fur and skin healthy. He has thrived in foster care and has been living with adults, dogs, and a cat. He gets along with everyone he meets. He is housebroken AND will use wee wee pads overnight if needed. Shaggy does have limited vision but he explores every new environment with a fearless approach and curiosity. He needs a few days to map out a new place and once he gets the lay of the land is hard to tell he is vision impaired. He has been loved and well cared for and now ready to find his forever! Our Golden Senior Boy Shaggy is 10-11 years old weighs about 33 pounds. We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Story
Life has gotten so much better for 3 little poodles that were rescued in February and it’s only going to get better as they look forward to becoming cherished family members in their new forever homes. Hazel, whose date of birth is 11/17/18, was listed as a red poodle on her papers. She is incredibly sweet but has been somewhat timid and is slowly learning to trust. Her ear mites are cleared up and after being brought up to date on vaccinations, she had a much-needed grooming. Her groomer sent us a before and after picture of her, and remarked that Hazel was so timid she wouldn’t look at her initially but after the groom it was like Hazel thought, you made me feel so much better, you may be someone I can trust and looked at her. Hazel was spayed and had a hernia repair as well, which we had not been aware of, and a dental on 3/6/25. On 2/25/25 she weighed 8.9 pounds. Hazel is heartworm negative and is being kept on heartworm and flea and tick prevention to maintain her good health. Due to her small size, Hazel will only be considered for homes with older children. Hazel’s adoption donation is $665 which includes the $165 transport fee. If you would like to adopt this precious little sweetheart, who is currently being fostered in Arkansas, and give her the kind of life she so richly deserves, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

Story
Life has gotten so much better for 3 little poodles that were rescued in February and it’s only going to get better as they look forward to becoming cherished family members in their new forever homes. Tina, whose date of birth is 4/23/18, was listed as a red poodle on her papers. Tina is a very social little girl and is the first one to run up and ask to be picked up. Even though all 3 had ear mites, Tina’s case was the worst. The ear mites were cleared up which helped these babies feel so much more comfortable. After being brought up to date on vaccinations all three were given a much-needed grooming. Their coats were so matted, the groomer had to shave them pretty close, but this also seemed to make them feel better. Our groomer sent us a before and after picture which is shared with you in Tina’s pictures. Tina had a dental on 3/5/25 and had to have 4 teeth removed. She had a spay and hernia repair on 3/11/25. On 2/25 she weighed 10.6 pounds and needs to lose a pound or so. She is up to date on vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is being kept on heartworm and flea and tick prevention to maintain her good health. Tina’s adoption donation is $665 which includes the $165 transport fee. If you would like to adopt this little treasure, who is being fostered in Arkansas, and give her the kind of life she so richly deserves, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application.
