Story
Baby is a SWEETIE! She’s an 11lb 3 Year Old cutie who is very eager to win over someone’s love . She’s been shy and timid but is really taking the time to blossom in her foster home for the last week and learning to trust the world! She adores watching the streets from the balcony, following her foster sibling around, and curling up in the fluffiest bed she can find.   Baby would thrive in a calm, patient home, and would love another dog to show her the ropes. She’s shy but eager to get close to you, and with time, love, and understanding, she’ll blossom into a fearless little pup! Baby is waiting to meet you! Story
** Current Location: in a private facility in South Korea ** • Rescue Story : A dog with its eyes completely missing, a dog whose body was entirely blackened, a dog with rotting genitals... We struggle to find the words to describe the horrors we witnessed. Like hamsters on a wheel, the dogs cried out for help. There were every kind of dog here, some that were once fashionable and others currently in demand. The once trendy dogs were dying in the corner, while those now popular were crying out for salvation with every part of their body. This place had been illegally breeding and abusing animals for 25 years. From this hell, the rescue team saved Mina. • Personality: Loves people, lap dog, loves to lounge in comfy spots She enjoys being close to people and will often walk over to sit on their laps for cuddles and relaxation. • Affinity with -Cats: Not tested -Dogs: Mina gets along well with other dogs but has an independent personality, so she may become irritated with overly persistent or clingy dogs. Mina enjoys being pampered by people and tends to rely more on humans than on dog companions, so she would be happier in a home without other dogs. -Adults/Kids: Mina loves everyone! • Shedding: 1-2 (1-10 scale) • Walking Manners: She has not yet had a proper walk. Once her adoption is confirmed, the rescue team will provide her with as much walking training as possible, but the adopter will need to continue practicing walking with her. • Housetrained: She is currently using indoor pads with an 80% accuracy rate. Once her adoption is confirmed, the team will continue pad training, though the adopter will need to continue training with her as well. • Separation Anxiety: None at the current facility • Barker or Quiet: No barking • Food Allergies: None • Likes & Dislikes: Likes treats, people, petting, and napping in a comfortable place! / Not a fan of other dogs being overly clingy. • Health: Mina has undergone surgery on both patellas. She has sensitive skin that tends to become dry and flaky, so she needs extra care for moisturizing. Mina has very few teeth, so she struggles to eat hard food or treats. She has an ulcer in her left eye and is currently undergoing medication (will relay treatment info to the adopting family!). Regular monitoring and treatment will be required in the future. Also, given that the dog was rescued from a puppy mill, we believed she was likely pregnant in the past. [Ophthalmologist Notes] - Left Eye: Dry eye with low tear production, swelling, and a cloudy cornea due to past injury (currently no active ulcer, but there is swelling and vascular changes). - Right Eye: Similar to the left, with an ulcer from a past injury, and pain. Tear production is higher but abnormal, likely due to the pain. - Both eyes have swollen eyelids. Mina is being treated with antibiotics and steroids, with weekly rechecks. If there’s no improvement, immunosuppressive drops may be needed. - May need constant monitoring for: Tear production (wet or dry around eyes), Redness or irritation, Frequent blinking.

Story
Lola is a 2-year-old, 15-20 pound female poodle/terrier mix from Tijuana! She has adjusted very well during her time with her foster family in NYC. Lola enjoys going for walks, meeting dogs and people, and getting lots of love and affection. She is doing well understanding “sit” and is making a lot of progress with her house training. She used pee pads the first couple of days, but with regimented walks, she is making progress with going potty only outside.  Lola is still working on her leash skills—she gets excited when she sees other dogs (and pigeons!) and is working on not pulling. Lola is a curious, energetic, sweet and loving pup. Her forever family will need to continue working with Lola to reinforce and advance the progress she's been making. Lola has a bit of separation anxiety when left in her crate, but will settle down after a bit. She will thrive in a forever family that will continue to help her build confident and feel safe and secure while on her own. She loves to be cozy with her foster family and can often be found with her lambchop toy. Lola would do well with a medium active family to keep her busy. She loves being outside, playing and exploring, and then enjoying downtime and a big nap afterwards. She would be good as a solo dog or with another dog, since she loves being playful. Lola has never lived with children before so we would recommend Lola go to a home with older or respectful dog savvy children. Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, bordetella, and Lepto. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.  To apply for Lola, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Questions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2333044##

Story
ANGEL - Poodle, 1.5 years, 18lbs, Neutered  Their Foster Parent Says: "Angel is adjusting well!! He had a couple potty accidents the first couple days, but otherwise hasn't relieved himself in the apartment since. He loves following us around and cuddling next to us on the couch or on the kitchen mat. He is learning how to play with his toys, but generally is food-driven. He has learned how to auto-sit, especially when we're holding food or treats, and also is a quick learner and knows which rooms he cannot access. We walk him 3-4 times a day, and he tends to poop on the first and last walk of the day. He is still getting used to the snow, but he started to hop around and play after a couple times out. He's calm and friendly with other dogs and also very curious around the apartment, trying to explore every corner. He'll be shy around new people but will warm up to them quickly. The biggest challenge is the separation anxiety. Whenever we leave him alone, he will cry or whine. He has been scratching at the door whenever we come back. We have a playpen for him and he would cry whenever we aren't in his line of sight. He is our shadow around the apartment; when we get up from the couch he'll follow us around." Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy levelMEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.) Cuddle Bug LevelHigh -- Is always on our heel and loves to cuddle up on the couchPotty TrainedYes -- Few or no accidents (accidents the first couple of days but no accidents since)Comfy with strangers?Sort of -- Shy when meeting new people but warms up quicklyGood with Children? (ALWAYS requires supervision)Yes for all ages -- very gentle, low energy, tolerant, not mouthy Good with Other Dogs?Yes -- Mostly uninterested; prefers humansGood with Other Animals? (cats, small pets, etc.)Yes-- mostly uninterested Mouthy Behavior?Low – Little to no interest in chewing on stuff or putting things in its mouth that aren’t food. Doesn’t try to chew on hands, feet, etc. during playtime, doesn’t wreck your stuff -- only chews on appropriate things like dog toys and bones. Leash Manners?Getting the Hang of it – Walks ahead occasionally and pulls but corrects himselfOkay in the city?Yes -- Unfazed by any loud noisesJumping on People to Say Hi?Medium – Jumps up only on people the dog knows when really excited. Stops with correction. Separation Anxiety?(Please be sure to leave your foster dog home alone every single day for at least 20 minutes.) Higher – He is ok alone for about 5 minutes, and then starts crying or scratching at the doorCrate training? Not at all – We have a playpen and he goes in his pen to eat/nap/sleep on his own. Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake  How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes.
