Story
Meet Amara!  Amara came from the Tangled 10. She is a sweet girl that's always given kisses no matter how scared she's been. She would prefer a quiet home with no young kids, she can be nervous and would love a peaceful place to sunbathe and love on her people. After some time to settle in to her new foster home, she is now willingly coming out for potty breaks, nose nuzzling, and belly rubs. She's not been on a leash much. She is sweet and learning what good humans are.   She is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, and current with all vaccines (as appropriate for her age) and on flea and heartworm prevention. Amara is currently being fostered in South Carolina.   ADOPT AMARA!! www.LuckyPupRescueSC.com The adoption fee is $300.00 and we require a vet check and home visit. August 19, 2024, 7:38 pm

Story
Meet Rapunzel, Rapunzel! Rapunzel! Just say her name and she’ll be at your side! If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal, adorable princess then you’ve found her! Rapunzel was rescued from a terrible hoarding case. She had pounds of matted hair, neglected for years. Forced to live in mounds of filth and feces with 26 other dogs. Rapunzel is sweet as can be at her core. Since she lived a terrible life, neglected for so long, she needs people to go slow with her. You must be a compassionate and understanding human. Rapunzel is not destructive or wild. She is working on learning how to potty outside, but tolerates a diaper while she’s learning where to pee. She is sweet and calm in the home. She absolutely hates being alone. She would be happiest with someone who works from home or has the ability to have a human around the house with Rapunzel most of the time. If left alone, your neighbors might hear her loud sorrowful songs. Rapunzel has a playful side and does like to initiate play with dogs around her size and would love to have a doggy friend but it is not required. Rapunzel loves dogs as well as cats. She doesn’t understand dog toys but loves to roll around in blankets on the couch and makes a silly happy sound while doing it. Most of all, Rapunzel just wants to be with her human. She loves fiercely and attaches quickly. She’ll lay next to you on the couch, follow you everywhere and sleep by your feet at night. She’s a sweet princess looking for her true love. Is it you!?     She is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, and current with all vaccines (as appropriate for her age) and on flea and heartworm prevention. Rapunzel is currently being fostered in South Carolina.   ADOPT RAPUNZEL!! www.LuckyPupRescueSC.com The adoption fee is $300.00 and we require a vet check and home visit. August 19, 2024, 7:38 pm

Story
Meet Frederick!  This fragile little guy came from the Tangled 10 crew. He was 8.60 pounds before we cut all the mats off of him. Cutting away the filth revealed a partially missing hind left foot in addition to every rib and vertebrae showing. He is blind in his left eye and has cataracts in the other. Even with all of these challenges, once he started getting fed regularly his strength increased and his personality started to surface. The kid can move pretty well on that one lame hind foot. He is absolutely an indoor dog! He HATES being crated but will go in for food. As soon as he's done he barks his demand to be let out IMMEDIATELY.   He is neutered, dewormed, microchipped, current with all vaccines (as appropriate for his age) and on flea and heartworm prevention. Frederick is currently being fostered in South Carolina. ADOPT FREDERICK!! www.LuckyPupRescueSC.com The adoption fee is $300.00 and we require a vet check and home visit.   August 19, 2024, 7:38 pm

Bash was very shy when he came to us, he loves to have his chest and belly rubbed, treats are one of his favorite things. He could become someone's lap dog.Bash is a smart and curious dog with a playful side. He can be a bit shy when he first meets someone but, with some time and scratches, he’ll warm up to you in no time. Bash is very treat-motivated and will do anything you ask of him as long as you have some yummy treats on hand! He is quiet and independent and would prefer a quiet home where he can get lots of love and attention.  He is good with other dogs and loves to play, he would do best in a home with another young and playful dog to help bring out his playful side. If you're looking for a sweet and loving companion, Bash may be the perfect fit. Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 7/22/2023 Reason for being in rescue: stray Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Bentley is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Please note that Bentley does not like to be restrained. At a minimum he needs to wear a muzzle for vet visits and grooming appointments. He may require sedation grooming. Weight: 9 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $349 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Bentley needs a home that won't cage him in - literally and figuratively! Bentley does not like a barrier placed in front of him that will slow or stop his roll. He will tell you what he thinks with barking, lip movement, or a flat-out hissy fit. Figuratively speaking, Bentley knows what he wants and how to get it. If he was a human, he would be able to manipulate any situation to his benefit. Yes, this little man is one smart guy who is at least 2 steps ahead on his daily plans for your life. Bentley needs an owner who can admire, work with his independent nature and clearly show Bentley respect. Bentley is really looking for a human who can give him a sense of security. If he senses a soft human, then the worst of his personality will dominate all day long. What is my personality like? Bentley is the master of ceremonies or he can be a brat. He has the mood swings of a teenager. Mostly he's a happy outgoing little guy. He can be hard-headed and isn't the dog for the faint of heart.  Bentley loves meeting new people and wants nothing more than to be the center of attention. He would love to be the ruler of the household and have things his way. Bentley is good with other dogs, but likes to be a loner at times. He wouldn’t mind being the only dog in the home; he does portray a bit of resource guarding towards other dogs when in his favorite human's lap. Bentley is crate trained, but prefers to sleep on the bed with his humans or in his own bed close by. He doesn’t ask for too much, just a hand (or two, or three) on him at all times. He’s already very spoiled, but wants to be spoiled even more. A home with small children wouldn’t be ideal. Bentley is crate-trained, but we leave the crate door open. When we close the door, Bentley does display his displeasure. He may just snarl his lips or go all the way to rage like the Hulk. Bentley freely puts himself into the crate to rest and feel safe. It's his world when it comes to the crate.  How do I act when I first meet new people? Bentley will rush up and greet you with some barks. If he really likes you, he will show you all of his teeth in a big goofy smile. He will run around and put on a show, then settle down for a couple of pets.  Other tips and tidbits: Bentley was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 7 years old. We celebrate hir birthday 7/3/2016. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Ernie is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm-negative. Ernie grew up without much human contact and needs a patient owner who will let him take the time needed to flourish. He also needs a confident dog to follow to teach him to be a loved pet not just a breeding dog. Weight: 16 lbs Height: 16 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? Yes, Ernie needs a fence of 4 feet or higher!  What kind of home would be best for me? Even though he's great when company comes over he would prefer a more quiet house with no young children. Ernie requires another dog in the home for behavior modeling and socialization. What is my personality like? Ernie is still very shy and more of a calm and quiet dog. He's very curious and likes to keep up with everything going on in the house like cooking or couch time. When he first came into foster he didn't wag his tail but now he joyfully wags his gorgeous natural tail. His favorite place to snuggle is in bed and that's the only place he's never reserved. He loves long walks with foster siblings and enjoys being leader of the pack. He's not destructive in the house but loves to play with toys.  Ernie doesn't like to be crated and foster mom thinks he was kept in one until rescued. He was groomed recently and did well with a gentle groomer while foster mom assisted holding him. How do I act when I first meet new people? Very shy and reserved Other tips and tidbits: Ernie's birthday is 10/26/2021. House trained? Dottie is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Dottie had heartworms and was treated on 06/19/2024. The protocol we use is two-fold. We do a pre-treat people where the dog takes doxycycline (an antibiotic) for at least 30 days. During this time the dog is also on regular heartworm prevention. The drug doxycycline weakens the adult heartworms. We then used a drug called diroban (a generic immiticide) to kill the adult heartworms. The dogs are given 2 injections of diroban 24 hours apart. They are then under strict rest protocols for 5 weeks - mostly cage rest with limited leash walks each day. They go in for a follow-up vet visit after their resting period. Dottie MUST be on regular heartworm and flea & tick prevention for the rest of her life.  Weight: 35 lbs Height: 20 in est at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? Yes, Dottie requires a physically fenced yard with fencing four (4) feet tall or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Dottie is an estimated four-year-old Labrador Retriever that loves being alive and enjoys all the world has to offer her, especially playing with other dogs. Dottie is a more reserved and shyer when it comes to people. She would like her adopter to be someone who is home more than they're away so they can teach her how to become the best girl she can be. They will need to understand Dottie will need some time to adjust and come out of her shell. Given that time she will blend into her adopter's life perfectly whether they are single, a couple or a family. Overly active toddlers are not her thing so families with children 10 years old and above are more her style. Dottie is a good sized girl that has energy to burn.  We do not thing she would do well in an apartment.  She needs a place to run, romp and play and a fenced in yard would give her that.  Dottie is full of energy and loves being outside. She would love her adopters to have another dog for her to play with and learn from. Dottie is a toy lover and will play with most any type of toy you want to give her. This girl needs a lot of exercise so a fenced in backyard where she can play with your other dog is required. Dottie is not hypoallergenic and will shed.  What is my personality like? Dottie is a four-year-old girl that acts like a puppy.  Dottie loves other dogs, is getting better with people. and simply loves being alive and enjoying all the world has to offer her. She loves other dogs; we don't know how she does with cats. We expect if you cat is ok with Dottie in the house Dottie will be ok with your cat. Once she has been in your home and adapted to it, Dottie will also enjoy trips to the dog park, walks, and hikes with you. She needs to learn to walk on a leash and also needs to learn her basic commands such as sit, stay, down, come, and the like. The time Dottie spends learning with her adopter will allow you to form a strong bond and build her confidence. Come see Dottie, a lovely girl who is filled with a ton love and joy to offer to her adopter that works patiently with her. How do I act when I first meet new people? With most people Dottie will take a few minutes to warm up to them, she can be a tad shy. Once she does, she is happy to be loved on by one and all. Other tips and tidbits: Dottie is estimated at 4 years old based on information her owners provided the shelter. We celebrate her birthday 4/16/2020. Arriving at an animal shelter may not have seemed like a good thing, but for Dottie, it was her lucky day. Dottie was a sick girl when she arrived in rescue - highly heartworm positive. Her heartworms have been treated, she has successfully recovered from the treatment, and now it's time for a forever home of her own!  House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Bruiser is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Weight: 13.5 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $349 Fence needed? Yes, Bruiser needs a fence for his own protection.   What kind of home would be best for me? Bruiser arrived in rescue as part of a hoarding case. He's only known life with other dogs in it. He is a calm and wonderful boy eager to be your companion. Bruiser would love to have another dog to learn from. Due to his small size, he would be best suited to a home with children aged 10 or older. Bruiser can be a playful guy, but he's not constantly on the go. His favorite place will always be cuddling in your arms or your lap sharing the love with you. Bruiser has a lot of love to give and when you adopt him, you'll wonder how you ever lived without him. What is my personality like? Say hello to Bruiser who is anything but a brute. This little guy wouldn't hurt a fly. Bruiser loves playing with other dogs his size but is more reserved when it comes to meeting people. However, he does love being loved on and especially loves being carried as he doesn't like to be on a leash. His adopter is going to have to work on Bruiser's leash training. Bruiser will lovingly give you his paw prodding you to provide him with more loving pets. It's not something he's been taught, and he doesn't know his basic commands. His adopter will need to teach him commands such as sit, stay, come, down, and yes, paw. The time Bruiser and his adopter spend learning commands and leash training will be a great bonding experience for both of you.  Bruiser is an initially cautious guy but warms up quickly. He gets along great with other small dogs and loves playing with them. He was fine amongst a group of big dogs, but he was a bit overwhelmed by them. He much prefers companions closer to his size. He did well with the two cats here, approached them to sniff, and then went on his way. How do I act when I first meet new people? Bruiser may not rush to greet strangers, but he welcomes gentle approaches. Give him a minute to get used to you and he'll be glad to have you pick him up in your arms or place him in your lap for the love he knows he deserves. Other tips and tidbits: Bruiser was surrendered by his owners to a shelter as part of a hoarding case. We don't know why. He is estimated at 7 years old. We celebrate his birthday 4/16/2017.
