Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 2/16/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Chewbacca was found as a stray.  Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Chewbacca is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 2/26/25 Chewbacca had a dental with extractions. On 3/12/25 he had an oral fistula repaired. Chewbacca is a senior gentleman. He has a great 1/6 heart murmur. He is not on medicine but will need ongoing monitoring. Chewbacca has bilateral cataracts. We have elected not to attempt restorative surgery given his age. Weight: 8.5 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $99 Fence needed?  No, Chewbacca is an indoor-only dog. What kind of home would be best for me?  Chewbacca is looking for a forever home where his adopters understand that he won’t be a playful pup who greets you at the door or jumps up for attention. A tail wag from this senior is the best he can offer to show how much he loves and appreciates the care you give him. Chewbacca would be comfortable in either an apartment or house. He would do well with a single adopter, a couple, or a family. However, we don’t recommend him for a home with young children. Chewy is hoping to find a calm household where he can spend his golden years relaxing. Ideally, a retired couple or a single adopter who doesn’t require him to take long walks would be the perfect match for this senior. What is my personality like?  Say hello to Chewbacca, an estimated 17-year-old gentleman who marches to the beat of his own drum. Chewbacca takes life at his own pace and isn't concerned with what others are doing or thinking. He enjoys a calm and relaxed life, moving slowly through his day, taking in what he wants to see and do—and avoiding anything else. Chewbacca is the calmest and chillest little dog you’ll ever meet. He doesn’t interact much with other dogs, preferring to do his own thing most of the time.  His caregiver describes him as “quiet and reserved,” and these words fit him perfectly. Chewbacca enjoys riding in a stroller, going for short walks on a leash, and enjoying the sunshine. Wherever you are is where he wants to be. He's the perfect buddy to run errands with. Chewy’s perfect day looks like this: breakfast, a nap on his bed, couch, or in your lap, a potty break, a treat, another nap, another potty break, dinner, snuggles on the couch, another potty break, and then bed. His life is simple, quiet, and peaceful—and all he asks for is love from his adopters. If you can offer Chewbacca a calm and loving home, he would love nothing more than to spend his golden years by your side. How do I act when I first meet new people?  Chewbacca loves people but isn’t overly affectionate. He enjoys being approached and petted, though you’ll only know how much he appreciates it when he gives you an occasional tail wag. Other tips and tidbits: Chewbacca was born on 2/16/2015. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. March 24, 2025, 8:12 am

No one came forward for this handsome boy. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet, SC Special Needs? Marley is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 2/26/25 Marley had a dental with extractions and had some old man lumps and bumps removed. Marley is a senior dog. He has bilateral cataracts; we have elected not to pursue surgery given his age. Marley also has a grade 1/6 heart murmur; he is not currently on medicine but will need ongoing monitoring. Marley was found as a stray - we have absolutely no history on him. Our best guess is that he is a miniature poodle. With an unknown history,  we cannot guarantee that he is hypoallergenic. Weight: 12 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $199 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Marley is searching for an adopter with a lifestyle similar to his—someone who will allow him to sleep as much as he wants and provide him with a cozy spot to soak up the sun. Whether it's a single person, a couple, or a family, Marley would love a home where he can continue his laid-back lifestyle. He enjoys watching other animals, whether they be dogs, squirrels, or birds, but he's not interested in chasing them—he's just content to observe their activity. While Marley would tolerate another dog, he prefers to be the only dog in the home so he can maintain his routine. Due to his size, Marley would do well in either a house or an apartment. He doesn’t have a preference about whether his adopter is single, a couple, or a family, but he would thrive with someone who is home most of the day, ideally someone who enjoys a relaxed pace of life like he does. What is my personality like? Marley is a senior who truly embodies his age. He enjoys his naps, meals, sunshine, and the love of those around him. While he is fine with other animals, he would prefer to be the only dog in the home so he can enjoy his space and routine. How do I act when I first meet new people? Marley is a sweet, older gentleman looking for his forever home. He enjoys the simple pleasures in life, like lounging in the sunshine and watching the world go by. Marley isn’t one to rush up and greet newcomers, but he enjoys the affection of everyone he meets. Deep down, he’s looking for his special person to be by his side for the rest of his golden years. As is common with many senior dogs (and humans), Marley does have some health concerns, but they are being managed. He’s had a few teeth removed, but he still eats well. Marley has a mild heart murmur, which doesn’t cause him any issues and doesn't require medication, though it should be monitored. He also has cataracts, but due to his age, we haven’t pursued any corrective procedures. Despite these age-related issues, Marley isn’t bothered by them. He enjoys strolling at his own pace, napping whenever he feels like it, and basking in any available sunshine—just typical senior behavior. Marley would be the perfect companion for anyone who leads a calm, unhurried lifestyle and is looking for a laid-back canine friend to keep them company. You are not going to teach this old dog new tricks so no commands for Marley. He does walk well on a leash, but he can be stubborn about going the way he wants to. If Marley fits your lifestyle, he’ll be here waiting for you. Of course, we might need to wake him up from a sunny nap, but he won’t mind if it means finding a forever home. He’ll be more than happy to settle into your home for his golden years. Other tips and tidbits: Marley's was born on or around 2/19/2016. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours.
