Story
Come and meet me at our adoption event at Trove Brewing, Burnsville on 4/5 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm! Hi, my name is Pokey.  I came all the way from Texas because I heard of "Minnesota Nice".  Well, when I got here, the first thing they did was neuter me and pull all my teeth! I do have to admit though that now my mouth no longer hurts and I really enjoy the yummy, soft food they’re feeding me.  I’m a little shy when I first meet new people but if you have a comfortable lap to offer me it won't take me long to warm up to you.  I am also ok with other dogs but prefer human company.  If you’re looking for a dog to go on long walks with, that’s not me but if you like to hang out at home and just spend time together, I’m definitely your guy.  A quiet home where I can just relax and get petted all day long would probably be my preference.  I am still working on potty training and am using pee pads in the meantime.  Do you have a spot on the couch for me that I can claim?

Story
Lucy is still waiting for a home: To ensure Lucy's success, we have a few mandatory requirements: Local Adoption (Minneapolis/St. Paul area preferred): We require adopters to live near us so we can provide support if needed. Home Visit: We conduct home visits to ensure it's a good fit for everyone, including existing pets. Fenced Yard: Lucy needs a safe space to play and run, and a fenced yard is essential. We do not allow tethering or constant leashing. Not home all day alone: Lucy is not in a position to be crated all day; she needs human companionship and training. We understand these requirements might seem strict, but they're in place because Lucy deserves stability and a home where she can thrive. Our priority is Lucy's well-being, not making anyone feel personally rejected. We're simply looking for the perfect match for her specific needs. Read more about Lucy in previous Posts! If you think you can offer Lucy the loving, stable home she deserves, please apply! Story
To apply for this magnificent pup, please go to our website at emotionalrescuedogs.org,  locate the dog's profile under Available Dogs and click the ADOPT button!  Let's make the magic happen! Bonnie is a Puppy Mill Mama who came to Rescue in February, 2024. No doubt, she produced dozens of beautiful puppies in her 8 years of life but at a cost. Bonnie had never walked on grass or been outside, had never been introduced to affection so the world outside a kennel was a very scary place for her. Bonnie now enjoys the company of her foster humans and will more frequently go potty outside when she has the opportunity. She's ready to find a home that can continue teaching her about love and that SHE has value, just for who she is, not how much money her puppies cost. Bonnie is a Mini Schnauzer and is dog friendly. She requires a fenced yard so she can safely explore the world. She is Spayed, up to date on vaccinations and is microchipped. She will require regular grooming and, though she'll be scared, she doesnt bite. Please apply for her at emotionalrescuedogs.org ##2245019##

Story
Hi there, I’m Anny. I’m an adorable, purebred Schnauzer girl who was rescued from the icky commercial breeding life in September 2024. Oof, things started out pretty rough for me. Humans were scary, life was scary, kennels were scary, everything was scary. I have been through a ton of things in my first 2 years of life and let’s just say most aren’t pleasant at all. Thank heavens for rescue and my patient foster parents and my foster siblings - because I have begun to really enjoy being a loved family member and this dog thing is pretty awesome. I am not going to be for every family, because I’m still learning to be brave and happy every day. Loud noises frighten me. Like the garage door or the doorbell, or anytime my foster mommy drops something - I run for the hills. Also, kissing my face - please don’t do it. I’m not saying I won’t ever hate it, but right now the sound and the human face in mine just deeply scares me. Picking me up - please don’t do it. I was lifted against my will for 2 years and I really, really don’t like it at all. I will run away from you if you try to do it. I know I sound difficult, but I’m just still learning that humans and being a loved part of a family is a good thing. Here is where I have made enormous strides - eating - it’s my favorite time of the day. Having a meal every day is just heaven. I desperately need another doggie companion. I will follow my sibling and take all of their cues. Confidence is key, and I really need to have another fur buddy with me at all times because I do get anxious if/when I’m left alone. Walks - at first I was terrified of the leash, like terrified and I still don’t love it, because having something put on my neck scares me, as do the noises from cars, but I will walk with my fur sibling, and I actually quite like doing it. I will absolutely need a fenced secure yard at first because walking with my new family will take a lot of time, trust, and training. Now my good points - because I have many!  I’m all Schnauzer - Silly, Sassy, and full of personality! When I get comfortable, I am a very happy and chill girl! Laying by the fireplace in a cozy bed is my true happy place! I am pretty good about my kennel.  Never had a single mess in it, but I need to be coaxed patiently to go into it. Once I’m there I’m a super good girl and I don’t make a peep. I love chewing! Bones, bully sticks, greenies, anything. I love to chew! I also love laundry and enjoy stealing it and scattering it all over my foster mom and dad’s house. They laugh, because catching me with tshirt in my mouth is super funny! I am very sweet and there isn’t a doggie friend I have disliked and my foster family has pups come for visits a lot. I have gotten along with all of them - young, old, and small. I sleep in bed with my foster family. I really like it. I turn into a little goofball. It’s one of the few places I will let my foster mom and dad pet me, and rub my belly, and I even give them hand kisses. Since loud noises really frighten me, young children are not recommended. I also have to live in a house with a fenced yard that is connected to the home, because I will take off quickly if given the chance and I will run away and I will not come back, or let you touch me or pick me up. For a family with older, kind, and respectful children, a mom or dad who works from home, or a recently retired mom or dad, I would be a great addition to the family, as long as I have a fur sibling to hang out with. I know that’s a lot of info, but I have overcome so much and with every new day I continue to make huge strides in showing what a great and brave girl I am.    Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, dental, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $750.00    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 21, 2024, 3:45 pm

Story
Age: Approximately 8 years old Weight: 10 lbs Dog friendly: Yes, requires another dog in the home Cat friendly: Unknown Kid friendly: Unknown Potty trained: Yes, does well on a schedule Crate trained: Yes ** NEEDS ANOTHER DOG IN THE HOME** Ginger is a sweet quiet lady who loves to cuddle and snuggle in bed. She came into foster with Lucy Lou as their owner passed away. Even though they came in together they don't seem bonded but should have another dog in the home. Ginger is shy at first but warms up quickly and will come to you for attention. She is potty trained, doesn't like to go up or down stairs, and likes to go for rides in the car. She is easy going and just wants love and attention. She is starting to take treats out of my hand and is a little protective of any treats on the floor. When you are outside and call her name, she will lay down for you to pick her up. Adoption Fee: $625
