Story
Update: 3/13/2025 Takia has started to flourish in her foster home and is showing her full personality now that she is completely comfortable. She is very smart and learns quickly with treats. She has mastered crate training, potty training, she also knows how to sit and lay down. She is a vocal dog and likes to talk like a husky and will bark to warn you of any possibility of an intruder. She does also have the husky stubbornness. Takia is very protective of her foster mom and will be an extremely loyal companion once her trust is earned. She adores people as well as receiving attention and affection. She is the best cuddler and does not agree with personal space. Takia does play well with other dogs but is a rough playmate and would do best with dogs who can match her play style. She would also thrive being the only dog in the home. She would be best in a house without cats or small animals as does have a large prey drive and she will chase and bark at the cats. Takia’s ideal home is with an experienced dog owner who is willing to take the time to work with Takia to master her manners and provider her with consistency, love, and structure. Takia would also do best with a fenced yard. Takia had a rough start to the world and each day is learning the joys and wonders of being a beloved pet but she can still be weary of new experiences and will require patience and time to adapt. Once she is comfortable she is an absolute wonderful dog who has a kind and playful soul. She is still young and is an active girl and would benefit from an active owner. Takia loves to play with toys and is an avid chewer. She also loves to steal shoes whenever possible. Takia is a beautiful, sweet young dog with strikingly unique eyes—one of each color! She is well-mannered, potty trained, and loves affection, though she can be a little shy when meeting new people or adjusting to new places. This is understandable, given her recent life changes: she gave birth to a litter of puppies, was rescued, and is now settling into her foster home. As she continues to warm up, it’s clear Takia craves human companionship and loves to be near her people. Despite her past, she’s eager to learn and still has the playful, curious spirit of a puppy. She gets along well with other dogs when introduced properly and enjoys playtime, but she doesn’t quite understand cats and tends to leave them alone. Takia is still learning to relax and enjoy life outside of survival mode, and she’s discovering the joys of toys, especially when it comes to chewing. She loves to cuddle close to her humans, basking in the warmth and comfort of a soft bed or couch. Though she’s still getting the hang of treats, she’s already a fan of mealtime. Takia is making great progress with crate training, and she’s been accident-free in the house. She will benefit from continued leash training and commands like sit or stay, but with patience and consistency, she will thrive. Takia will do best in a family that offers her the grace, love, and stability she needs as she embraces her new life as part of a family.
