Story
Dude is a 42lb, male, mt cur mix (maybe with boxer or pittie), born 9/27/2023. We pulled this sweet, energetic boy from our local overcrowded shelter where he has been overlooked for far too long. Due to his energy, Dude is currently enrolled in our "cell dog" training program to learn and perfect some basic commands like house breaking, crate training, leash walking & general obedience.Dude does well with other dogs and is a real sweetheart. This is one happy boy. We have never had him around cats, so that would need better evaluation if interested.Dude is a young dog that has a good bit of energy, it is likely best that he be in a home with older kids who can appreciate his energy and activity. Dude's adoption fee is $300.00 which includes his neuter, vaccines including DHLPPC vaccines, Lyme vaccines Kennel Cough vaccine, Rabies vaccine, Lyme/Heartworm testing (negative), Microchip with lifetime registration and cell dog training. If you want to meet Dude with hopes to make him part of your family, be sure to FIRST apply on our website for approval: https://www.theroadhomeanimalproject.org/companion-adoption-form-pdf.html***100% of adoption fees go back to the animals and help provide for medical care for our rescues that need specialized medical care and surgeries.*Note: Ideally, ALL members of the family (canine and human alike) should be present for any meet and greet unless otherwise specified/discussed.Please remember that we are a board of entirely volunteers that have full time jobs as well as our rescue passion. So, be patient with us and check out our Facebook page for more information and photo updates: facebook.com/trhap2014Apply at https://theroadhomeanimalproject.org/companion-adoption-form/

Story
Meet Sam, a resilient farm dog who has overcome incredible odds. Rescued from a high-risk situation at a euthanasia shelter, Sam ended up in an urban shelter. A bustling city shelter was never the right fit for a country boy like Sam, but now he is thriving under the care of HALO and is ready to find the loving home he truly deserves. Sam is a handsome and lovable 3-year-old mixed breed who brings a little bit of 17 breeds into one amazing package! While his DNA may be diverse, one thing is crystal clear: Sam is 100% good dog!  He is Athletic, Smart and Affectionate. This adventurous boy is an outdoor enthusiast through and through. Whether it’s hiking trails, swimming in the lake, or exploring wide-open spaces, Sam is happiest when he has a “job”.  He can be found with his nose to the ground, chasing squirrels and sniffing all that nature has to offer. His boundless curiosity and energy make him the perfect companion for an active household that loves the great outdoors.   Sam is a rising star in scent training and is currently working toward his higher-level scent certification at Clermont County Dog Training Club.   When the adventures are done, Sam shows his softer side. He loves winding down with snuggles on the couch and hanging out by your side, ready to give you all his love and loyalty. Sam’s Ideal Home: Active Lifestyle: Perfect for individuals or families who love the outdoors Space to Roam: A farm or large fenced yard would be a dream come true for Sam. Field mice and/or moles would be an added bonus! Solo Pet. Sam thrives as the only pet in the home - he wants to be the center of his human's world. No Cats.  Sorry feline friends.  He doesn't chase cats, but prefers they stay out of his personal space.  Adults & Older Children.  He is a great companion for adults and older children who understand how to interact with dogs.    Sam's cattle dog tendencies can show up at times with small children. Dixie is a 50 lb mixed breed.  Best guess is that she is a Mt. Cur mix. She is sweet and playful.  She loves people and seems to be fine around other dogs.  We do not know how she is with cats or children.   She is highly energetic and will require a home that is willing to provide her plenty of exercise. Anyone interested her must stop in to meet here and complete an application to be considered.   10/15/2024---Dixie is now enrolled in our prison program for training.  Anyone interested in her must schedule an appointment to meet her (she will stay at the prison until she is adopted.....she is NOT at the shelter) Morrow County Dog Shelter, Mt. **WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Boo. I'm about 7 years old and I weigh about 60 lbs. Someone brought me into the pound and claimed that I was a stray. A couple of days later, a dog that had been here in the past, my friend Zoe, came in. She was chipped and had been adopted back by the son of our owner. His dog Karma was also in the pound with Zoe at that time and he got them both back home. When the girls here called to find out what was going on with Zoe, he stated that after getting Zoe and his dog Karma back, his parents were mad that he brought them back home and they kicked him out of the house. He found a safe place for Karma to stay, but Zoe and I belonged to his parents and he didn't have anyplace we could go to, so he had to leave us behind. When she called him, she didn't know I was associated with Zoe yet, but he asked if a dog matching my description had also been dropped off or picked up within the previous couple of days of Zoe's arrival. He was told that I was here and that I had been brought in as a stray. He did know the name of the person that dropped me off and it is believed that the person that dropped me off did so for my owner. Needless to say, neither of us were claimed, and I guess that is probably for the better. I get to share a kennel with Zoe now and we do great together. We keep our kennel clean at night usually. Zoe sometimes has the "old lady" accidents, but we seem to be housebroken otherwise. I can be a little unsure of new people, so sometimes it takes me just a little bit of time to warm up. Once I know you, I am extremely sweet and I like attention and affection. I get along well with the other dogs I've met here at the pound. Zoe and I do not have to be adopted together, but if someone were looking to adopt 2 dogs, we would be a great pair. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
Mountain Cur Beagle Mix. Sugar and Spice and everything nice, these are the 3 ingredients to making the perfect little girl. Blossom is the older sister to Buttercup and Bubbles (adopted) and is so ready to be adopted! Blossom loves to play in water and can spend hours having a blast. No matter if it is a pool or sprinkler, she will find a way to have fun. Once the fun is over and it’s time for a nap, you can find Blossom relaxing in the pool as if it was a hot tub. Blossom will need some basic household training, but she is smart enough to catch on quickly. Blossom can spend hours rough housing with her sister Buttercup while out in the yard together. She is great with cats, dogs, and children. Blossom is ready for adoption, are you ready to rescue? If you would be interested in giving me a furever home, please contact The Humane Society of Adams County, Inc. at (937) 544-8585 to set up a time to come meet me and fill out an adoption application!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Meatloaf, a stunning Mountain Cur & Labrador Retriever mix, showcasing a striking brindle and white coat. This handsome boy, at six years old and weighing in at 62 pounds, is not only a sight to behold but a charming and affectionate companion. Having experienced some challenges recently, Meatloaf is a bit cautious in new environments and with unfamiliar faces. However, it doesn't take long for his loving nature to emerge, revealing a slightly active bundle of joy with a polite demeanor. When approached, he graciously asks for hugs and kisses, showcasing his gentle and loving side. Meatloaf's social skills shine when it comes to interacting with children and adults, making him a wonderful addition to families. While his compatibility with cats is unknown, he tends to prefer his own space around other dogs and appreciates being left alone at the shelter. So he would be better to be the only pet in the home.  His escape talents hint at a distaste for confinement, so an ideal home for this Houdini enthusiast would include a high-fenced yard. In a short time Meatloaf  mastered the 'sit' and 'paw' commands, demonstrating his high intelligence and eagerness to learn. Teaching him new tricks and commands promises to be a delightful and rewarding experience for both Meatloaf and his future family. Meatloaf is ready to embark on his new journey with a loving family. Meatloaf is not just a dog; he's a loving companion ready to bring joy and happiness to a forever home. Don't miss the opportunity to welcome this wonderful furry friend into your life! Meatloaf is Lyme positive, but has received 30 days of Doxycycline & Lyme vaccine. He's up to date on all vaccines & ready to go!  Website:   https://cpas.rescuegroups.org Phone: (740) 934-2693 Email:     cpas43793@hotmail.com Facebook:     Crossed Paws Animal Shelter Adoption Form:     https://cpas.rescuegroups.org/forms Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 7, 2024, 4:38 pm
