Story
Hi, I'm Lilo. My story is terrible. But here goes. My parents up and moved, and left me to die. I was alone in that nasty house. For how long, I don't know. Long enough for bugs to start creeping in. Thank goodness someone heard me crying. When I was finally rescued, the humans said I was skin and bones and very upset. I'm still angry at my parents. How could they do that to me? Did they not love me enough to take me with them? Or at least try to find someone to care for me? I just don't understand. I constantly jump in my kennel just to keep the bad memories away. I try to fight the other dogs through their kennels because I'm so angry. The humans here tell me that after I have been fixed, it will help with my emotions. I hope so. I don't want to lose all hope that there are good parents out there. So here's my hope. I hope that someone with a lot of patience, caring, and love comes to save me from myself. I need to have my hope restored. Will you be the one that can do that?

Story
Dobby is just the best. Like seriously, the nicest dog on the planet!! He's kind, smart, and loyal. He came to Helpless Hounds in April from a hoarding situation, with some physical scars. He was also Heartworm Positive. But you'd never know about his sordid past because all he wants to do is cuddle and play with his soft toys. And he loves alerting his people to all the rabbits munching in the yard. Dobby knows basic commands and how to use the dog door. He loves his foster brothers (2 bassets, 1 redbone) and ignores the cats. He's good with people of all ages. He'd love to have another dog in the house but would likely do ok as a single. He is 6 years old, weighing around 45 lbs. Here’s what to know: 🧑‍🚀 dog friendly & loves playing wrestle with other dogs. 🧑‍🚀 potty trained 🧑‍🚀 he will get as close as he can to you when cuddling 🧑‍🚀 no jumping 🧑‍🚀 walks great on a leash 🧑‍🚀 loves sleeping in bed with his humans 🧑‍🚀 would be such a LOVING addition to a home Someone must want a smaller hound with a soft bark!! You can take him on a week-long sleepover to try him out in your home! BONUS: His DNA test results are in!! Can you guess what type of mix Dobby is??

Story
Hi. My name is Cowboy.  I may be a cur mix but I act like a beagle too.  I am seven years old and I weigh about forty pounds.  I think the pictures make me look bigger than I am.  I was surrendered to the rescue when my family was moving away and said they couldn't take me with them.  I just don't understand that and was very confused at first.  Now, I am over them and ready to move on with my life.    I am a scaredy cat, playful and loyal to my family.  I talk a lot if someone comes around I don't know and I can sound quite fierce.  Actually I am a big chicken and will stand behind you or run to my crate, please don't tell anyone.  I love toys, lots of them.  I have always lived in a home with a fenced yard. I went to training classes and know all my basic obedience and how to walk with a harness on a leash. I like walks. I came to the rescue with two problems we have been working on, first I love food and treats.  I should weigh about fourty pounds but it's hard for me to hold that weight because I will eat anything you give me! So they are watching how much food I eat and I am trying to get more exercise, did I say I love food and treats?  Second I tested positive for a tick borne illness called Ehlrlicha so I have been treated for that.  I will always test positive, but I have no symptoms and it's not causing me any problems now.  Just saying so you know. I like other dogs and would be happy in a home with a playmate or just you.  I don't bother cats so they are fine too. I am going to match the energy level of your home, busy or chill is just fine. I am housetrained.    I have been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated (including influenza) and tested negative for heartworms. My adoption fee is 150.00.  If you are interested in adopting me please go to dogsasfamily.org and fill out an adoption application for me, Cowboy.  I could protect you and be your friend if you can do the same for me.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 5, 2024, 6:25 pm

Story
When Pearl was found she was emaciated and had awful wounds on her face, she required and received intensive care when she arrived to the Tulsa SPCA. We do not know for sure how she got the wounds but know she does not like a lot of barking. Both here and in foster care she has been loving and affectionate towards people and while in foster care she did well with the grandchildren of varying ages. Pearl would have to be the only dog in the home with a loving and patient family that would not hold her flaws against her. She detests cats. While in foster care she did fine in a crate.
